More shadows... hiding in... your shadow?

They move up out of the pool of darkness cast by your presence and stretch out too long arms to grasp them, pushing through their armor but for the goblin's magiced version. Their touch is cold, cold as the wintery realm of Thul surely must be. They seek the warmt hof life, and leave nothing but that cold in their wake.

Eztli was still stuck trying to figure out what was going on with the temperature, to the point where they only caught their own shadow reaching out for them too late. Or rather, something hiding in their shadow. "Crap, those things are real dangerous, everyone, get clear if you can!" The makari shouts, waving one hand around and instilling her allies with a sudden violent, then more gentle warmth in their limbs, making their movements more effortless.

It is now Nameless' turn! Tlanexhuani is next!

Aelwyn turns to look towards Eztli, spreading his hands. "What is there _not_ to be about cold? Moving stiff, barely feeling one's fingers and toes, and feel the chill-" It is around this time his shadow touches him.

There's a sudden stumble onwards and the Dragoon spins around, but the movements of his glaive were not light, nor purposeful. Snarling, he sways his blade at them, clumsily. "Tch, what did they do? Why is everything so heavy?" He hisses, as he barely hits one of them.

Feeling the chill touch even as her magical armour repels it, the Nameless goblin squeaks with surprise, and then suddenly poofs out of existence for an eyeblink, reappearing with a stumble on the other side of the group with a stumble, she mutters "Useful things" and whirls her finger in the air, drawing bright beads of white light from the chill surroundings and with a flick of her arm, sending them weaving between her companions to slam into the shadow that doesn't have a name. "They're some kind of undead, incorporeal, so magic weapons and attacks only, and they're too dumb to taunt or charm." she shares what she remembers from the books that a goblin that did have a name once read.

Tlanexhuani blinks at the shadowy Makari (and the others) that emerge. He doesn't like the cold, but the chilling touch of the thing seems even worse. It's like his warmth and life were stolen from him. First names and now this?! He still has his spark, though! A little jolt has the splints of his armor awakening, tightening, and reinforcing even as he draws his hammer. "Give back!" He swings, though the hammer feels unusally heavy in his weakened claws, and goes wide.

One charges at the Nameless Goblin, but is caught by a wicked glaive placed in its path. It disintegrates after splashing over the bladed edge, cut by its magic.

The others keep on tyou, hungry for your warmth and life. They don't want to stop.

Eztli was again assaulted by one of the shadows, and their strength was very quickly fading. The small makari steps back to make just enough space to conjure unharassed.

A massive trail of flames spring forth from one of Eztli's hands, coiling in place before barreling through the shadows, a draconic head with it's maw outstretched and filled with purple violet flames that consume two of the creatures in it's path.

Aelwyn, despite his weakening strength, still did have his reflexes and his trusted glaive. Leaning away from the swipe, he twists his feet and leans into it for momentum - and with a terrifying force, he makes a shadow disappear. Somehow. Weaving his blade in the air and swiping at the moving creatures, he heaves out a breath.

"This one... is feeling like the morning shall come soon." The draconian grits. "Though the warmth is appreciated, Spelldancer." He flashes his teeth at the smallest of makari.

As shadows fall left and right, the goblin is impressed by her companions' skill, "Nice work." she says, hopping sideways to get a good line on the last shadow, briefly distracted by a need to check she still has a normal shadow - all good for now, and she raises both arms to let loose gouts of flame from her purple hands, charring the air and one of them hitting the last Shadow, burning a hole through it that expands out to consume it entirely.

Silence descends on you once more. Better you than the wizards coming up after you, right? Right?

PRobably doesn't feel that way at the moment, and you still have some ways to go. The forest is silent as the tomb.

Tlanexhuani's spark fades and his armor goes inert. He is winded for a few moments. The weariness, though, does not fade so quickly. "All... well?" He asks the others as he looks to them. Which is followed with a concerned. "Are more these shadows? Far to go?"

After the last of the shadows collapse, Aelwyn collapses as well, breathing heavily. Hissing and snarling, he reaches for his breastplate and starts tearing its straps impatiently - then with a quick glance towards Tlanexhuani, he does it a bit more carefully.

"What did they do?" He asks, as he heaves the now surprisingly heavy breastplate off him. "Everything is so heavy."

Eztli turns to see the last shadow Vanish, and the small makari huffs, giving the gobber a thumbs up. A very, very shaky thumbs up. "Everyone alright? No more for the time being?" She asks, taking a pause to stretch, nearly losing their balance in the process. "Not well, but we've got a job to do, if we're still in good enough shape to do it. Are you going to be okay, Aelwyn?"

It's still quiet, at least. You've got time to catch your breath.

The shadows loom large, but at least they're not moving anymore.

"They didn't get me, but from the looks of it, it's a weakening touch that some undead have. It may take some time for it wear off. Maybe days without a cleric." The nameless goblin pauses, "You think you can carry on? I don't, unfortunately, have anything to solve that kinda problem." She frowns, not sure if it's wise to forge onwards with some of the group looking very weakened.

"This one is weak, but can go farther," Tlanexhuani shares his status. "Maybe carry for others, if need?" His eyes stop to linger on Aelwyn, being the one hurriedly removing armor.

Aelwyn waves a hand and a tail, getting back onto his feet quickly enough. He takes up breastplate, heaving it up. "Tch, this one should be light." He rumbles with annoyance, but offers it to the group regardless. "Yet, this one always told that armor only gets in the way." He flickers his tongue at Eztli. Even if he had to lean on his glaive and tail to do it.

"Yes, armor gets in the way of things, like knives and arrows and axes." Eztli grumbles, sticking their tongue back out at Aelwyn. "Honestly if I didn't know better I'd say you're happy to have the excuse."

Eztli does take the breastplate, and nearly falls over from the weight of it, but after a few more awkward moments they're able to stuff it into an impossibly small bag at their side.

"I don't like the thought of going further if more of those things might show up, but I don't know if we have a choice in the matter. We might not get another chance to lock this tower down, you know?"

With your weakened conditions, the journey is far more tiring than it should be. Why, it's almost like that's the point, right? Slowing you down. Weakening you. Leaving you fatigued, out of breath by the time you get to the spire.

And that's without even considering how difficult locating the spire actually is. While you seem to be getting closer, its position seems to shift around a limited area, alwayus a little further away from you even as you close in. Finally, you breach the limit of what it seems capable of and find yourself standing in front of an ivy-strewn structure like the oine some of you have seen before, the outlying guard post to the spire.

It looks like someone's been here recently5, however. The ivy blocking the doorway you would have had to cut has already *been* cut, and neatly at that.

Taking a moment to steel yourselves, you push into the structure to find that everything is in tact, and it looks like it's just a waiting game to play 'guard' now for the wizards who are supposed to come in behind you ... assuming *they* make it succesfully thorugh the gauntlet.

Spending your time here, you're going to have an ample opportunity to brace for any attack. Place defenses, noisemakers, whatever else you want that might signal trouble.

You have a feeling you're going to need it.
