It's Kesenday, Aestry 15 12:39:10 1018. The full moon isn't up. The tide is low and ebbing. A light rain falls from a grey sky. It's warm and there's a slight wind from the southeast.

A09: Southern Bridge Over Tormawr River

On this mildly rainy day, there is a hustle and bustle at the Southern Highbridge. Pedestrians of many races move between parts of the city; some people are driving wagons or riding horses. The river, too, sees its share of traffic. The great crane-like contraptions are lowering the center sections of the bridge back to their normal place after having just allowed a tall, five-masted schooner to cross underneath.

Climbing one of the archways from which the cantilevered bridge is supported, is a griffon led by an elf. Both are making use of the service ladders, albeit the griffon is not climbing the ladder in the conventional sense.

Rubbing her forehead, a very tall oruch woman is using her earthbreaker as a walking stick as she walks her way over the high bridge. "By the maul, how long was I out?" She says as she looks down over the bridge's railing.....and chuckling. "Must've been one hell of a party."

When it is not oruchs and griffons putting on an impromptu show, it is large cargo vessels moving along the river. Aya does not frequently travel between upper and lower sections of the city, though she has much more so as of late. Maybe this is why the delays seem all the more annoying.

As the lowering of the center sections is finally complete, the climbers also reach the top of the arch. This is a dizzying height, but that is exactly what the companions were seeking. The elf mounts the griffon, who in turn bellows a screech that would be ear-rending if it were closer. Once the rider is in place, he seems to simply look over the surrounding area, getting the bird's eye view, as it were.

Except this oruch seemed to be recovering from a party instead of trying to put one on. She rubbed her forehead and shook her head. She then winces from the screech from the griffon. "SHUT YER PIE HOLE!" She roars.

Aya glances over at the screech, first, making not of the griffon and his pet, possibly readied to jump off a bridge. This isn't so unusual, unplanned, nor undesired. The latter yell pulls Aya's attention from them to the unhappy oruch. As she is much nearer, and possibly less loud, Aya asks, rather quietly, "A long night?" A brow rises with the question.

Karuda says, "Long few months." She chuckles. "Last i remember is a party in honor of Angoron and Tarien...."

The travelers who had queued up to cross the bridge, have by now gone across. leaving the bridge itself much less crowded. although there are still several people about, mostly those that are in no particular hurry, looking up at the griffon. The beast extends his wings, which span a good 25 feet from tip to tip, and as a gust catches them, he jumps into it. The creature soars across the tops of some nearby buildings, descending the whole time, before curving around to land where the road meets the bridge. People make way for the 500 lb. creature and its rider to land.

Aya's brow lowers at the oruch. "I see. With the two combined, I can imagine how days or weeks could pass with little sense of all else. Maybe you should be thankful that you survived?"

Karuda looks up at the griffon taking flight. "See...that wasn't so hard...was it?" She says rubbing her face and smirking to Aya. "Hah. Takes more than that to bring down Karuda." She then hehs quietly. "Was one hell of a party though. Can't honor Angoron and Tarien any better."

Ga'Elian dismounts and pats the griffon, who begins to purr and flick his tail. He says, "Well, that was fun. For all that goeth on here, yet say I nothing amiss from aloft. Perhaps it taketh closer inspection to find the traces of the fiends." He sees Aya's familiar face, and says, "Hello."

"Drinks, brawls... drunken brawls... No better way. I'd guess," a corner of Aya's mouth twist upwards unevenly. When Ga'Elian greets, she acknowledges with a dip of her chin. "Hello, I see he still hasn't decided to eat you, yet."

"Drunken brawls? no no no. Brawling is work. Drinking is play. Karuda separates work and play. Now if work interfere with play, then Karuda get angry." She then grins a very nasty grin. "No one wants to see Karuda Angry." She then looks towards the griffon and Ga'Elian. "You look for fiends. Karuda help, but knows little."

Karuda pops her neck. "But for now, I head back to the Soldier's Defense. I need to take a walk for a little bit." She then looks to the griffon. "Use your inside voice next time, ya buzzard." She says walking right on by.

Ga'Elian bows as he silently listens to and watches Karuda. Once she has gone, he says, "Looks to me like a whole lot of people also 'needed to take a walk for a little bit.' I suppose the milder weather brings people out." About then, a soccer ball rolls toward Aya from across the road, headng straight toward her ankle. The wierd thing is, nobody is at the exact place from which it seems to be coming. <sildanyari>

Aya lifts a foot to step on the ball and stop it. mostly coordinated from her peripheral vision. "It is more comfortable outside when the weather isn't trying to kill you, yes."
