Everyone was brought together after messages were sent out from the Adventurer's Guild. There is a young nobleman who just reached his majority and inherited the title and lands that belonged to his family. THe first thing that he set about doing was surveying all that he owned. He discovered a crumbling tower on the edges of his lands, a Tower in a small secluded valley. As he and the small exploration party he had with him approached the Tower there were strange noises heard within. He and his party quickly departed.


The young man has decided to hire a group to go and investigate the tower and clean out the residents of it, if need be. A map was given as well directions. So the group is found on the road to the Tower.


Zalara is riding along on her hoverbike as they make their way to the tower. She's flying along a couple feet above the ground and she looks around, "Anyone else heard of this old tower?" She asks as she tries to think back if she's heard anything about this tower.

Renfrey shrugs "Heard nothing. How hard can it be though? Just climb to the top, take a peek around and make tracks. In, out and deliver our report." he susggests with optimism. The blackclad rogue seems quite confident that this will be an easy affair "If theres trouble I will scope it out and you guys can blow it up too."


Rhar and Gurr like adventure. Even more when it's outside the city. There isn't alot of room to run and hunt and play there. So now the're on the road! To a new place! "Rhar not know tower. Gurr not know tower."

GAME: Renfrey rolls knowledge/local: (17)+16: 33 You paged Renfrey with 'well with that, it was used as a retreat for a nobleman, said nobleman died unexpectedly so it was abandoned but still with all its treasures inside, it has been some years since used and fallen into disrepair, who knows what it is used as now.'


Zalara hmms, "All I remember about it is that it was a nobleman's retreat and hasn't been used in some time." He shrugs, "I wonder what scared them off. Probably just the wind."


Renfrey grins "Hey that may mean theres treasure inside! Like I said, in and out real quick-like so we can get back to civilization." "Animal find empty cave, animal use cave." Rhar knows that much about built things. Shelther is shelter. Gurr snorts his agreeemnt. He hopes it will be more than the wind. Like a heard of tasty deer. All lined up like a buffet.


Valadhiel chuckles, "Considering it's the Guild that's put out the notice, I'm certain we'll have some unexpected things lurking inside. Because, well..." Seems to be a truism to her, anyway, that nothing from the Guild EVER goes according to plan.


It isn't too long before the top of the tower can be seen through the trees. THere appears to be a road that leads up to it with columns along either side.


Renfrey looks around "Ok then, in which case lets prepare for the worst. Let me take a look ahead to see if any suprises are waiting to jump out for us." he says drawing his cloak about his shoulders.


Zalara smiles as she drives along and she hmms as she looks at the tower. She looks over at Renfrey, "Are you sure it'd be safe?"


Rhar points ahead and up. "Rhar see tower!" In case anyone missed it. Then she looks at Renfrey. "Go look alone? Stronger in pack."


Valadhiel hmms, "Well, I could scout with him. I'm pretty good at being stealthy myself." She glances at Renfrey, "Give you a bit of a lead, then I'll follow you along, then the rest of the group?"


Renfrey shrugs "I will only look and if there is trouble I will scream very loudly, rest asured. You won't miss it." he then nods to Valadhiel "Ok, lets take opposite sides of the road then!" he then ducks into the bush on one side of the road and sneaks through the brush.

Zalara nods as she looks over at Rhar, "I don't like it either Rhar, but I only have one invisibility contraption for today otherwise I'd suggest we follow after them.'

Valadhiel murmurs, "If you see or hear any explosions, that means we found trouble." She then grins a bit and vanishes into the shadows along the other side of the road, not moving nearly as quickly as Renfrey, but managing her concealment fairly well

"Gurr not quiet. Always hungry. Belly growls alot." Rhar points out. Which gets a short growl from Gurr. That's not his stomach. They pad along the road towards the tower.


You paged (Valadhiel, Renfrey) with 'As you approach the Tower, the road becomes cobblestone though it has seen better days. THere are columns on either side of the road, most of them crumbling. There are statues of monsters on most of the columns, though some of the statues are laying on the ground. You both notice that there is something off about some of the statues.'

From afar, to (Aurala, Renfrey): Valadhiel hrms. Would a knowledge check be useful here? Arcana, perhaps?

Zalara follows along after Rhar and she looks around, "Well let's be careful." She takes out her death ray and she looks around.

You paged Zalara with 'you can valadhiel as approaches the tower, don't see Renfrey, the road turns into cobblestone as it gets closer to the tower with columns on either side of road, both columns and road have seen better days.'

Zalara is good enough to see Valadhiel, but she doesn't see Renfrey yet. She continues to guide her hoverbike as she has her deathray out and about.

Renfrey comes walking out of the bush like a wraith, bits of twigs and leaves caught on his cloak "Man... why couldn't this have been in the city..." he says brushing a twig off. "Theres pillars ahead, with statues atop them but they are sketchy. Probbaly a trap or something." he adds with a shrug.


Valadhiel ahems softly as she emerges shortly after Renfrey, "Actually, I suspect they are gargoyles. It was hard to tell, but there are certain characteristics... I think that's what they are."


Rhar and Gurr startle when Renfrey and Valadhiel emerge. They are on the lookout for trouble, too! "How stone enemy? What gargoyle?" These are not things wolves normally encounter in the wild, so she's not familiar.

Zalara hmms a little bit as she sees the other two as they come back, "Gargoyle huh? I've heard of them, but I've never fought against them, either of youtwo know anything about them?" She asks, "Well we best be ready for them."

Renfrey furrows his bow "Ok, well... hrm. What if we attack them at range and draw them in? Rhar can counter attack and I can come in from behind?" he offers as a suggestion.


<OOC> Aurala says, "ok" GAME: Valadhiel rolls knowledge/arcana: (19)+15: 34 <OOC> Valadhiel knows Magic. You paged Valadhiel with 'that gets most of it. Need magic to hurt them really good, otherwise they are resistant to damage. THey can fly, can remain so immobile it is hard to distinguish them from real statues. low intelligence, they love stolen books, treasures, etc, probably why they would be at the tower.'


Rhar nods. Twice. "Rhar, Gurr protect pack!" Because that's what packs do. "Bring close. Will bite! Hit with sticks!"


Valadhiel hmms, "Well, gargoyles are only really hurt by magical weapons or attacks. Normal weapons aren't that effective. They can fly, and are almost impossible to distinguish when they are at rest and immobile. Not the smartest of creatures, but they love stolen treasures and books, which is probably why they're here." She smiles a little, "Well, I have a little spell that can shake things up for them, and with them being softened up they should be a little easier to finish off."

Renfrey nods "Ok then, give me amoment to find a perch and I will pick them off as I can as well. I will let you open up then." he says to Val.

As you approach the tower you can see the cobblestone road and crumbling columns next to it. Columns are on either side of the road, every 5 feet, there is a statue on each column or laying on the ground next to it. 16 columns total. Not all were Gargoyles, but they were mixed in. (perception)

Zalara watches ethe gargoyles, but she can't tell which is which. She waits until Renfrey shoots at one before she takes aim at the same one with her Deathray. She turns it on a cold energy setting and she blasts it with her death ray.

Valadhiel pulls out a pinch of something, and tosses it into the air as she murmurs something in Draconic. A small spark flickers out, arrowing into the middle of the next six statues, after the first pair. Suddenly, it detonates, causing four statues to crumble and break... and two gargoyles looking rather crispy as they are revealed.

Zalara activates her titan armor as there are more gargoyles then she had thought before. She takes aim at another one as her titan armor wraps around her body protectively before she fires another blast of cold energy at the gargoyle. She freezes it dead and it comes smashing down on the ground.

Renfrey keeps the foilage and and takes careful aim with his bow, looking for the tiny twitches and taletell signs that of which are allive. However he spots a toasted one and lets another arrow fly from his hideout amongst the bushes and sticks it in the neck.


Valadhiel pulls out her composite bow, the elvish runes glowing upon the wood as she nocks an arrow and fires, then a second. Both sail wide of the gargoyle, causing Val to frown ever so slightly.

Rhar blinks when sticks fly and things burn. She sees some of the statues move, then. Just in time to be made to stop moving with more sticks. Was that all of them? She can't tell. But she knows how to find out! Gurr moves towards the other statues farther out from those being attacked. "Gargoyles! Where at?! No hide! Come out!' When in doubt... ask!

The gargoyles come alive. There are four on Rhar and Gurr, two on the ground to either side and two hovering one in front and one in back. There are also two on Zalara, one of which is crispy. None of them managed to hit their targets.

Zalara drops back as the gargoyles try to hit her. Her armor protects her allowing her to dodge their claws. She back up and fire at the crispy one. Her blast of cold energy kills it giving her enough time to take aim at the second one and fire a second cold blast at it, hurting it badly.

Rhar and Gurr are surrounded! But the pack stays strong. "Gargoyles no hurt pack!" Rhar swings sticks at the one in front, even the big flat round stick she uses to protect, while Gurr's very large teeth snap at the one behind. And when the one in back is hit good, they both take advantage of the weakness and gang up more! It doesn't like this, and reacts by dying. The three remaining gargoyles attack the rider and mount but none of them manage to find their target.

GAME: Aurala has cleared initiatives.

The pack prevails! Now that there's only one left, Rhar and Gurr outnumber and gang up on it. There's more sharp metla stick swining. And big round flat shiny stick swining. Finally, Gurr gets ahold of it with big jaws and crunches down on it. It stops flapping.


And with that the gargoyles are down. THe rest appear to be just statues. THere are sounds from the Tower. "Leave...depart...flee...or die." comes hisses from within the confines of the Tower. THere are no lights or anything to be seen though.


Renfrey backs up from the noise, quickly dashing back to grab his dropped bow and hide behind a pillar "Holy cow, is it haunted?" he says peering around the collumn at the tower.


Valadhiel hrms, "Possibly... though more likely there's something else there that was using the gargoyles as guardians. Or it might just be a magical trigger to say that." She glances at Renfrey, keeping her bow out and in the general direction of the tower


Zalara hmms, "Well why don't you come out and make us." She says a bit sassy as she puts away her death ray and she keeps her titan armor on.


Rhar looks to the direction of the voice. Gurr growls. "Come out!" That's Rhar yelling. Not Gurr. He's too polite and subtle to yell.


For whatever reason, what is in the Tower decides to do just that. Emerging from the entrance come three large snakelike creatures. Each bearing a humanoid head. They hiss a bit, "Then die."

"No hurt pack! Rhar stop you" She informs them of their mistake and then politely introduces herself. Before Gurr bouds up to the front snake thing with fiery zots. So that Rhar can hit it with her stick. He tries to bite it's legs, too. But it doesn't have any legs! That confuses Gurr a little.

The snake creature that was pretty fried from Zalara's lightning bolt returns the favor, blasting her, but it doesn't seem to have as much effect as the artificer's had.

She presses the disk on an exposed bit of flesh and the disk injects the green liquid inside of Valadhiel, curing her wounds.

Renfrey flourishes his rapier and strikes into the guts of the beast twice while Rhar distracts it on the opposite side, his careful stabs piercing vital organs and brining the beast down. Only 2 more to go!

Valadhiel gasps at the injection, then nods to Zalara, "Thanks..." She then murmurs in Draconic, gesturing to the two remaining snakes. And... nothing seems to happen, which causes the elf to look suitably perturbed.

With one snake hit and not moving, Rhar nudges Gurr, who bounds to the one not electrofired. She hits it with her stick, he gets it with his teeth. Hurt, but they're pretty tough.

Zalara tries to dodge out of the way of a blast of lightning and she takes the full brunt of it. She's hearing and she grits her teeth, "Time to end this." She takes aim with her death ray and she fires two rapid fire shots at the snake man. She hits with both and kills it. She whews as she looks around for the last one.

The last remaining Snake creature tries to attack Rhar with its bite and tail but fails to hit. Renfrey moves to flank with Rhar, drawing an attack by the snake creature's tail but it fails to hit. Renfrey then tries to stab the snake and misses as well.
