A youg girl seems too have missplaced a locket and has come too the Explorers Guild to get help retrieving it.

As a chilly wind blows through Alexandrias southern gate, a mook from the Explorers guild approaches the readying group. "Oi! Ya da ones goin' lookin' fer da locket? ?" Says a somewhat rotund goblin under a flat cap, as he figits with some papers. "I kind ov feel fer miss Tasso, she got ambushed by some spiders on da way ter 'er love an' lost 'er family 'eirloom." Pullin out a sheet with some confidence, he pauses for a moment to look over the gathered party before saying apologetically, "Err.. you are da ones going for da locket, init?"

Malorn nods, "Yes I at least am going out to help retrieve this lost locket." He says as he looks to the others to see if they are coming as well.

"Spiders? I hope Alba's not involved in this." Sasha says before looking at the goblin. "I'm pretty sure I am. The others should be arriving shortly."

Gregor stands up straight and alert, and begins to rip off a crisp salute before he recalls the Guild doesn't salute. "Yes," he says, sounding a bit embarassed, but helpful. "That's the job we're here for."

Hun'rar furrows his brow as he listens to the goblin, nodding along politely. "Sir, do you speak common by chance?" although he shrugs when others respond. "Or just point me in the right direction, whichever."

Kisa is fidgeting with the straps to the breastplate. I mean, sure, it's magical so it fits her just right but it always feels a little off to her. Probably doesn't help that she hasn't worn something like this before so she's not used to it. Another pull and jostle with one of the straps as she makes a little grumbling noise. Until she spots Sasha anyway. "SASHA!" She calls out, throwing her arms up in the air and leaving the strap to dangle.

Sasha blinks at Kisaiya and laughs. She gives the energetic tarienite a hug before she makes her stand still. "Stand still, you bundle of energy." She says as she fixes the strap on Kisaiya's breastplate, and even helps her the rest of the way with it. "It's easier when someone else helps you, Kisa."

"Yeah, but what? I'm going to summon retainers or something for something that I'm used to doing myself?" Kisa says with a dry smile and a shake of her head. But now that the breastplate is secured she pulls free her bow and grins, looking toward the Goblin, "Locket, right?" A flick of her eyes toward Sasha, "Not Gnomes. Gnomes was the other one, right? They were all undead, and Gnome one was left behind?"

"Ah, good, 'ere yew go, should take yew ter where 'er wagon was found, she says they chased 'er in'er da nearby woods fer a time befawer she was rescued by some adventures." The goblin beams as he offers up the paper. Frowning slightly at Hun'rar's request, the little man somewhat mockingly replies, "Ah, I do apologise good sir.. I hope this will suffice."

Gregor will take a look at the map, and try to work out where this all is.

"Pff. You don't need retainers, Kisa. Goofball." Sasha says as she puts down the pauldron. "Come on. and I don't think they're undead gnomes. Horrifying little blighters." She then looks to the goblin. 'What did?"

Hun'rar ponders "Let me know if you need pointers on armor. Either way, finding will be tricky, small thing like that." he says with a pensive expression. "You said it was a gold locket?"

"Don't worry about him." Kisa says as she gestures toward Hun'rar, "He's just being stubborn I bet. Anyway, please do lead the way." A nod of her head and she looks back between Hun'rar and Sasha. <goblin-talk>

"Well, even you said that it's easier when someone helps me. Besides, I just got this so I gotta learn some how." A flick of her eyes back toward Hun'rar, "It's alright, I think I can work it out."

"Uhh.." The goblin mutters as he looks once more at the paper offered out, "Silver an gold.. has some kinda enchantment on it." Giving a shrug, the goblin once again holds out the paper before saying nonchalntly, "Need anything else before I get back to my desk?"

Sasha quietly takes the paper. "WHo chased the woman into the woods?"

"Spiders.. some previous job with the guild." The goblin replies to Sasha, "Had something to do with some misshap with merchants."

Sasha says, "All right. Thank you." She says before looking to Kisaiya. "Can we handle spiders?""

Malorn flips his hood up, "If we work together we can." He says as he shakes his head, "No I believe we are fine, thank you for your assistance. We'll be back with the locket as soon as we can be. Unless anyone has any other questions?"

Gregor ays to the others, I am as ready as I'll ever be."

A shrug from Kisa as she looks at Sasha, "I don't see Serra here, and it's not in the sewers, so she won't blow it up again. I don't think it would be a problem." She gestures toward the other adventurers, "Plus -- look! New and old friends! I'm sure we got this. Gnome one can stop us now."

Gregor ays to the others, "I am as ready as I'll ever be." (fixed) Gregor says to the others, "I am as ready as I'll ever be." (really fixed)

Hun'rar nods to Kisa "Right, lets get going then shall me? A Warden of Gilead is already ready." he says adjusting his belt a little.

Kisa gives a slow nod back and a smile to Hun'rar as she leans toward Sasha and says out of the corner of her mouth, "What's a Warden of Gilead?"

Sasha says, "He's a paladin, Kisa. One that follows Gilead. So instead of calling him a bucket-head, we call him a stump-head. Kay?" She then giggles a bit."

Hun'rar looks at Sasha with a grimace before looking back at Kisa. "She is partially correct! I am a Warden of the Great Green Hunting Dragon. Glad to be of service."

A furrow of a brow and a cant of her head to the side as she looks at Sasha, "Why not just stumpy if we're making up names. Or Tree'd-head?" A turn of her head to look back at Hun'rar, and an exaggerated nod, "Ohhhh okay." She looks back at Sasha, "Green meanie? No. Scale-head? No. Warden-esque? No." And that's how Kisa would pass the time.

After a few days travel along one of Alexandrias southern roads, the party begins to near the spot marked on the goblins map. In rather plain view up ahead is what seems to be the wreckage of a carriage over turned along the road.

Gregor observes, "At least no one stole the carriage."

Malorn starts to look around as there are supposed to be spiders here. He hmms a bit, "Be on guard." He says as he makes sure to look up into the trees.

A snap of her fingers! "Draggo! Maybe? Hm." A pause and she taps at her chin again, still debating it as they finally close in on the wreckage. "Oh! Oh! Great Head. There we go." A nod and she looks over at Sasha, "Warden Great-Head." But Kisa will, of course, look around for spiders (or signs of them) as well.

Sasha chuckles and rubs her face at Kisaiya. "Yes..keep an eye out for spiders....."

As the party approaches the wreck, the forests on either side of the road seems eerily quiet. The wreckage it self seems long stripped of anything valuable.

Sasha tilts her head as she looks towards the western woods. "There. You see the cobwebs, Kisa?" She says pointing. "If they were here....it was a while ago. Since the webs are unkept...completely." She says to Kisa.

Kisa crinkles her nose as she turns to look at the cobwebs too. A shake of her head from side-to-side, "Can I change my mind? Can we just set the forest on fire to get rid of the spiders?"

Malorn looks over to the western woods, "There are some webbing over there." He looks over to Kisa, "If you want a bunch of druids made at you, still I wouldn't. You might bring out more dangerous monsters."

Sasha says, "That wouldn't be fair to the other things and people that are in the forest, Kisa." She then chuckles. "I know you didn't mean it.""

Gregor looks around, but follows the cue of the others. He still hasn't got this adventuring thing worked out.

A sigh, "Yeah.. Oh, I need to check when Hissy is going to be released." A frown and Kisa shifts from one foot to the other. She grabs an arrow and nocks it, another glance toward Malorn (Sasha gets it!), "I was just kidding. I don't actually mind spiders that much -- but it's fun to ham it up from time-to-time. Shall we?" Her brows arch and a smile grows. "This is one of those times I'll insist with ladies not being first."

Sasha says, "Don't speak of ham. The spiders might be meat eaters."

Malorn nods, "Spiders are all meat eaters." He informs the others as he continues to look around and starts to look for the locket.

"I never thought Spiders and I would have anything in common. I don't have 8 legs, or a shiny carapace, or covered in fur, or those strange eyes..." A shrug, "But, I do enjoy meat. Mmm, when I get back I'm going to get a steak." She's searching the ground for tracks, picking up the trail to start with (though it would fall to someone else to continue it) "Ah, I think this is her tracks but, err, lost it." And she doesn't even make it five feet. I bet Malorn will have better luck.

Hun'rar is terrible at seeing things or following things other than his fellow party members. With the potential of danger his has doned his helmet, shield and is prepared to draw his bastard sword. "If spiders come out, you are safe behind my shield." he comments to the others.

Malorn hmms as he looks about, "I think we'll have to move more into the woods to try to find this locket." He says as he points out the way. "There will most likely be spiders." He says as he starts to move towards the woods.

Gregor will ride into the forest, watching alertly for signs of danger. Alas, danger rarely carries signs.

After following the tracks a decent treck into the woods, the underbrush having gone completely wild in most parts by now, the party comes across what seems to be what was once a rather thickly webbed area. Tattered remaines of of the wispy substance seems draped or bunch over much of the area, either tangled in leaves or full of muck.

Sasha says, "uh oh. here's where it gets tricky." She says as she looks at all the webbing....."

"Yeah, but what sort of thing would cause this?" Kisa glances toward Sasha for a moment before looking about. She's trying to keep a lookout for whatever might've destroyed the webs.

Sasha says, "Someone panicing could've."

Malorn holds up his hand to alert the group that he's seen something. He puts his finger to his lips as he points to the several large spiders clinging to the trees.

Sasha looks at Malorn and taps Kisaiya's shoulder...then points at her bow.

Hun'rar looks over to Malorn and nods, pointing to the trees so that others can see and then draws out a javelin.

Gregor is too busy trying to find the tracks, and doesn't notice the spiders til they're pointed out. He couches his lance in case we need to fight.

Kisa gives a nod, she still had her bow out though she was having a hard time trying to see the spiders. A turn of her head one way, and then the other, drawing back the arrow and waiting to see if they would turn out to be aggressive or not. She was guessing yes, but she was also willing to give the critters the benefit of the doubt.

The spiders remain completely motionless on their various perches.

Malorn looks to the others and he makes finger motions to sneak. He isn't the best at it as he starts to move through the underbrush to the west following the tracks.

Kisa slowly starts to inch her way forward, still holding the bow up with the arrow nocked. She's not sure if the large spiders are going to lash out or not, but if they start to come at them, she's not going to wait to see if they're tame or not.

Gregor creeps along quietly, his horse moving slowly through the heavy brush. He makes a mental note to buy a machete for next time.

The nearby spiders eyes seem too twinkle as Kisaiya passes nearby, but otherwise it remains motionless, latched onto the tree.

Hun'rar just stands still, javelin in hand trying his best to not make noise and standing still is the only way he knows how.

Sasha does the best thing she know how when she needs to be quiet....she stays still. She's a cleric, not a friggin thief.

Kisaiya reaches a hand back slowly, then gestures forward followed by a careful point out toward L3. A pick of blue cloth that she can see underneath its leg. She's not sure how they are going to get it free though.

Malorn hmms as he looks over towards the others and he says in a low voice, "Does anyone want to sneak over and get what Kisaiya is pointing to?"

Gregor looks around, then slips out of the saddle. "I'm guessing 'anyone' is me." He'll attempt to move stealthily over and grab the thing.

Kisa waves her hand at Gregor and then shakes her head from side-to-side, she gestures at herself with a bit of a grimace and slowly lets the bow string untense. She slides the arrow back into its quiver and hooks the bow back to where it rests. She'll pull her scythe free next, as she moves forward toward the spider. She wasn't about to go in unarmed after all.

The spiders glossy eyes glare down at Gregor and then Kisaiya, but otherwise remains still as the party memebers approaches the tree base. Underneath one of its eight legs lies a bit of tattered cloth, tangled up in webbing and the tree itself.

Gregor will begin the climb. The spider apparently doesn't consider him food. He hopes it won't consider him annoying. GAME: Kisaiya rolls Athletics -2: (3)+7+-2: 8

Kisa starts up as well, hoping that the blue bird of happiness will not cause any issues. You know, with them suddenly starting to flock her or something. Thankfully, they do not, but she also doesn't seem to quite find the right hand holds and foot holds.

Malorn shifts slowly into a ready position should the spiders decide to attack his companions.

Sasha has been watching this entire time...and she is...starting to get a strange feeling about this.

Kisa starts to shuffle around the tree's base with her hands and feet on the bark. A shift one way around the trunk, a shift the other, up and down a bit, and no real progress up.

Hun'rar carefully puts the javelin away and tries to cast a spell to detect magic.

Hun'rar shrugs and knows he cannot keep quiet and starts walking towards L3 "Theres some magic there..." he intones. By that Spider Kisaiya."

Gregor gives the piece of cloth a good hard yank from under the spider's leg, and pulls the cloth free. Unfortunately, tree's are not good balance places, and sometimes 8 legs means more to sort out. So when the young hobgoblin yanks the cloth free, it jerks the spider's leg out, and the spider goes crashing to the ground.

Malorn looks up and he points it out to the rest of the party, "Look out from above!" He calls out as he moves into a very defensive stance.

As the spider stiffly crashes down a beast resembling a wasp the size of a horse, but with the head of a spider and two long appendages ending in pincers are diving swiftly through the trees headed straight for Kisaiya. Stoping just above the human it takes a viscious but wide stab with its stinger.

Kisaiya looks up at the Hobgoblin as the spider falls down, she hops free of the tree as she calls up to him, "What the hells?! Be more careful! That poor guy is probably hurt." But as she turns, she hears (and feels) those wasp things. The one swings at her and it's a matter of luck more than anything else that it misses. Whipping her scythe up, a push of it with her hip, swinging it with her movements more than her strength, and hitting it with the blade.

Not soon after another two of the monstrosities dart through the trees. Both creatures plunging stingers into their respective targets, venom oozing out of the spikes.

Malorn tries to fend off the wasp attack as it comes at him. He can't move out of the way quick enough and he's slashed across the chest with the stinger. He grits his teeth as he focuses himself. With two precise strikes to the wasp and a round house kick Malorn is able to bring the wasp down to the ground.

Gregor jumps down from the tree to face off against the nearest monster. Swining hard with his flail, the spiked ball makes a hard report as it smacks into the creature, even as Gregor makes a sort of sketchy landing, kicking up turf.

Malorn misses the Wasp as it gets up and he tries to re-focus his efforts. He kicks at it hard, but the attack leaves him off balance as he tries to attack again twice. Both missing and Malorn takes a deep breath to try to center himself.

The most severly damaged of the wasps lashes out wildy at those adjacent too it. It manages to bite a sizable chunk of the paralyzed Malorn, taking what glee such a creature could take from retribution.

Gregor has backed off and couched his lance, now he nudges his horse into a short charge, and it leaps forward, covering the ground in a heartbeat. That labce hits the wasp, and runs it through. Even as its final struggles are fading, he yanks his lance back out, mess staining the wooden shaft.

Gregor tries to keep on fighting, rearing his horse so it can thrash with it's hooves, but the rearing leaves Gregor's strike off balance, and he can't strike true with it no matter how he tries.

Sasha, as the other seem to have the fight, temporarily, in hand, runs over to Kisaiya. She puts her hand on Kisaiya's shoulder and mutters a few encouraging words to Kisaiya.....and her body begins to glow.

Gregor manages to shake off enough of the poison to get back into the fight, but he's unable to do much, weak and woozy, his lance skitters off the hard exoskeleton, and Traveller's hooves are no more effective.

As the monstrocity recoils from Malorn's onslaught, it seems to reconsider life and lets out a frantic hiss before jetting away from the melee. All manner of liquid pooring from its body and more than a few mangled limbs it would seem is enough to send it packing.

Sasha's touch probably did the trick there, the bit of extra protection giving her the extra oomph to finally shake free of that poison. And with a glare toward those wretched things, Kisa charged at the creature. Her scythe whipped up and about, slicing back down on an angle and cutting into it.

Now that everyone was free to move, Sasha glared towards the remaining wasp. Then she opened her hand and fired a laser at the wasp to really hurt it good.

Gregor manages to score a hit once there's only one left, spearing it with his lance to pin it in place, while his mount rears and smashes it with one of it's hooves. When his mount, Traveller, settles back, he'll look around and ask the others, "Can we do anything about the last one?" He'll drop his lance and shield, maybe he can get his bow out in time?

Malorn rubs his limbs to get rid of any of the linger poison. "Ugh...I hate poison." He looks around for any more, "Well let's get the locket before more of those things come around." He says as he starts to look for it.

Kisa heads back over toward the tree she was at to begin with, trying to find that bit of blue cloth or where that spider was. Maybe she could find the locket over there.

Gregor has the cloth, will show it to Kisaiya, maybe she can figure it out?

Malorn spots a glint over where one of the spiders fell down. He takes out a bolt and he uses it to try to poke at what the glint is to get it out without putting his hand in there.

Kisa pulls out her scythe once more, sighing, but waits to see exactly what it is that's making the noise before simply attacking. Malorn goes to grab the glint before whatever is in the spider comes out.

Before long a bit of its thorax pops out as the spider lets out more of shrieking hiss. Like wise, the other spiders begin making similiar noises, as odd portions of their bodies begin to push outward and expand unnaturally.


Kisa looks toward Malorn, "Got it?" And seeing him grabbing at it she turns and begins to head off back toward the road. The road with the naked carriage.

Suddendly, without further warning, a head not unlike a spiders bursts through the thorax of the nearby spider as Kisaiya begins walking away. Wasting no time, the creature begins gnawing on its host greedily as it ceases further shrieks.

Malorn nods as he pulls it back and gets up, "Yes let's get out of here before we are attacked again."

Once we have the locket, Gregor says, "Let's get out of here fast!" And he'll urge his horse to make time.
