  • Summary: After sending the Loggers out of the forest, with assistance from the Dryad who leads them out, the adventurers wait for whoever set things in motion to appear at the logger's sex cabin. When a shambling mound bursts through the door expecting to find loggers the adventurers spring into action ready to defeat it and, after they reveal themselves, the mastermind behind the whole plot who has come to tie up loose ends.

It is not, of course, that anyone was careless. Care *was* taken. Watches set. It's why you're as prepared as you are when the creature bursts through the door. It's a large, bulky, humanoid shaped, vaguely, mossy thing. And it is storming through the shattered doorway.

Jozi is in the right place at the right time when company comes calling. As leafy kicks the door in before her, the half-orcess brings the hammer down, a glancing blow, but a start. Her followup, with her racially favored claw gauntlet, alas, is for naught.

The horrible beast, made of a bulk of vegetation, raises its humanoid fist and smashes at Jozi. It swings wide, putting a hole in the side of the wall.

Just like that. Yikes.

Rumbo had been practicing his dragonspitter handling, probably to the consternation of the others in the cabin over the last few days, and was twirling the dragonspitter around his trigger finger as the door burst open. "GAAH! Monster plants?!" He squeaks out in surprise as Jozi smashes it with her hammer. "Can we burn it?" He adds as he loads the dragonspitter with practiced movements (perhaps now his colleagues will appreciate all the practice the Gobber puts into handling his weapon) and snaps a shot past Jozi. KABLAAM! <goblin-talk>

Because plant creatures totally burst through the door on the daily. Of course.

Aimarra, who had been lounging in a chair on the other side of the room with her bow at the ready, but drowsing off to sleep, immediately snaps awake as chunks of door fly through the room with a tremendous *crash!* What a way to wake up, but she seems to take it in stride, and in the blink of an eye, arrow is in hand and the newly enchanted bow sings its song. Her aim is unerring, and a feathered shaft sinks into the plant creature. "May the gods damn, you, you haven't even got the good manners to knock first!"

Wow.

Jozi blinks a moment at the renovation that just missed her head, then as her comrades volley in, she gives a savage grin, "Good shootin! I'll try an' keep 'im off ya! Bring it ON!" So emboldened with purpose and resolve, the half-orc moves to cut off the vegilante's inward rush with another blow of her hammer, though again, her claws whistle through empty air.

...well, it attempts to charge at Jozi to get them out of the way so that it can push its way in further, but it's bulk hooks on the shattered remnants of the door frame, leaving it tangled in its own mossy exterior for a moment. There's a briefly confused, questioning moan.

Having successfully shot the mossy mass of vines Cogz Rumbos begins chanting in Eldritch. The dragonspitter he holds begins to glow red as he maintains the aim against the animate foliage and when he completes the spell and squeezes the trigger a shimmering and flashing tiny dragon of orange and red flames zips from the barrel and zig zags around the cabin, past Jozi and explodes against the angry vegetation with a twinkle of sparks!

Her arrow sticks into the creature's hide as Ivy curses in the elven language repeatedly. "It's a shambler," she calls, shocked. "I haven't seen one in this part of the woods for... decades?" A pause. "Yes. DEcades. CErtainly."

"How'd it get here?" Aimarra might be asking Ivy shouted questions, but she doesn't stop shooting to do so, her bowstring singing as another well-placed arrow finds its mark.

"Now, my fine logging friends, let us make this quick!" A voice from outside as someone calls over the Shambling Mound.

Clearly she's been too long out of the pits. The half-orc's hammer blow comes up under the creature's 'chin', but another claw-swipe threatens only butterflies. Nonetheless, on hearing the mouthpiece beyond, Jozi calls, "I got this, someone put some hurt on that guy!"

She wanted to be reasonable.

Now, she's mad.

Rumbo squeezes the trigger of his dragonspitter again and fires out another snapdragon firework that zigs and zags all around the cabin room with it's twinkly trail of red and orange flames lighting up the interior until it zooms past Jozi to slam into the hulking shambler of moss and explode in a shower of sparpling lights! "Shambler resists fire! Stupid shambler!" the Gobber shouts out as his hands move rapidly to reload his dragonspitter with blasting powder and lead shot.

Two arrows thunk meatily into the Shambler to no actual avail from Ivy. They've backed into the wall, worriedly, trying to keept thier distance. The voice coming over its shoulder has them frowning.

"...wait. Was that a .. was that a gun shot?"

So confident he was that he didn't even really pay attention to the explosions, initially. Whoever this is is now supremely caught off guard from the sound of their voice.

Jozi is probably distracted by the fool outside, as her next swings end up outside of the Shambler's neighborhood entirely, an, by overextending, it sets her out of position to properly defend against the creature's response..

The mound finally picks Jozi up and slasm her into a wall with its bulk, leaving an impact crater where the two of them hit. This clears the way for Aimarra, to reveal a man standing none too far behind it. He's shot, of course, staggering back with a spray of blood from the flesh wound. He screams in pain and rage, caught off guard. "No!" He cluthes his wound, swaddled in heavy furs and robes, but it's clear he's definitely an elf of some sort from the pointed ears.

Aimarra doesn't hesitate, letting fly with unerring accuracy, and only lowering the bow when she sees who it is. "Your little logger party got crashed," she snaps out, in none too polite terms. "Now be a dear and call your pet off before we kill you both." <sildanyari>

Rumbo was wavering the dragonspitter after loading it, looking for a shot, but when the shambling mound of angry vegetation slammed itself up against Jozi he shouts out angrily, "Oi! Leave fat Half-Oruch alone. Bad salad!" He then utters a short phrase in Eldrich and the dragonspitter in his hand barks but it is a magical dart that fires out of the barrel and slams into the mossy mound!

Ivy's arrows aren't doing a terrible amount to it, but then, they are at least doing a *little*.

A glance is cast towards the ifgure outside and they whirl their bow towards them.

"That one speaks truly. They will end you, immediately. They were willing to leave the loggers to their fates -- what makes yoyu think they won't bring darkness to your's?"

Wounded, the figure reaches inside his robe and produces a vial. He holds it up in his hands. "I don't think so! I'll end you all right here and now instead!"

Jozi growls a surprised, "Lemme go, you-!" as the shaggy salad uproots and SLAMS her into the wall, knocking the wind out of her.

Planted half-ass through the wall of the shack, the half-orc trades several swings with the rowdy roughage, though she comes up empty. Her foe, however, makes a stern, bone-rattling rebuke that leaves the green woman too battered and dazed to realize she just got called 'fat' by the goblin. She's standing, yet, though slightly pitched to one side, with an eye squinted half shut, and her nostrils trickling crimson. <yrch-speak>

Jozi is getting made mince meat of at this point. With the damage they've taken so far, they are HURTING, pounded into a bloody mess by its fists. Stil lstanding, but the mound definitely has made a mess of them, even if it's pretty banged up itsself.

"Your choice," Aimarra snarls, but the sounds of meat slamming into wall makes her look over at Jozi. "Thinking that darkness is damned well there already, my friend. Gobber, go send him up in flames or something." She swivels her next arrow, sinking it into the mound and hopefully drawing its ire away from the half-oruch.

GAME: Rumbo casts Snapdragon Fireworks. Caster Level: 2 DC: 16

Rumbo takes the hint from Aimarra and aims his dragonspitter out the door towards the elf outside holding up a glass vial. He chants in Eldritch as he lines up his shot and, when he squeezes the trigger, another one of those tiny sparking orange and red dragons shoots out to zig zag around the room. Instead of shooting out the door it takes a circuitous path and exits through the hole in the wall the Shambling Mound smashed out earlier before finally exploding just above the mysterious elf figure where he holds the glass vial in colourful sparks and flames!

.. it promtply explodes into flame above him. Seems he was in fact intending to set the place on fire. Only now, he's on fire and he's dropped to the ground, screaming to extinguish himself.

Another arrow from Ivy plunges into the mound's side. Their eyes are wide at the flaming elf over there. She darts outside, ducking under the mound's reach as best she's able.

SCreaming and trying to extinguish himself at the moment, the elf is *definitely* in pain. Interestingly, the mound seems to notice and turns towards him, as if awaiting a command.

Bleeding, battered and... is she tasting her brain...? Jozi, on legs of jelly, takes advantage of the distractions her companions have provided and staggers back from the distracted creature as she whispers a quite prayer to the Mother and touches a softly glowing hand to her cheek (mindful of the blades) and some of her wounds seem slightly abated, her eyes clearer.

"Alright, boys, let's clear the board..."
