  • Title: Forgotten Blood Finale - Assassins
  • GM: Harkashan
  • Characters: Aznara, Crik, Reithak
  • Location: Am'shere - Ketsalkuetspaltahtepetl
  • Summary: A stand at the walls of Ketsalkuetspaltahtepetl, fighting off the Charn raid. Horrifying howls fill the air...

The walls of Ketsalkuetspaltahtepetl have stood strong for decades now. Even before the arrival of the menacing Charn, these powerful walls have stood the test of time. Between the intense heat coming from the nearby lava-flow that forms a 'moat' of sorts in this particular region of the Mountainous area, and the constant growth of forest, it's a constant struggle to ensure it remains standing however. Yet, stand it does.

It has turned darn. Those present know that there's some beneath the tunnels of Ketsalkuetspaltahtepetl that are hard at work to keep the underground magma from being used as a delivery mechanism for the poisons.

Other powerful Adventurers have gone to stop the fiendish ritual that has uprooted a Behemoth from the lands that has caused tremmors to echo even this far out, miles away. The occassional roar can be heard in the far distance, as the fight continues on.

But these Adventurers right here stand with the Sith-makar that man the walls. There's snarls and hisses from them, as they watch the hills across. Waiting for the invevitable enemies to show...

A fluttering collection of cloth barely hides the darkness within. Like a symbol of sorts, perhaps an omen, a crow has found their way here in these lava filled mountains. Almost as if to bear witness to the tragic events unfolding.

In other words, Crik had very little clue how he managed to find himself here standing on a wall, as _a guard_ out of all things. He twitches slightly.

Aznara stands by a window, occasionally leaning to glance out through it, trying to keep an eye out without fully revealing herself. She has a composite longbow out and strung, with an arrow-filled quiver over one shoulder, although one arrow is nocked (but, obviously, not drawn) on the bow's string.

Reithak had barely made it to the city in time when help was requested, and there wasn't much time to familiarize with the lay of the land. But it was a wall, right? It was just a matter of keeping things safe on one side and unsafe on the other.

So the larger egalrin idled near one of the windows, keeping an eye out. "If that big pool of lava's there, and there's reason to believe they're coming, they must have a plan to get over it." Reithak mutters, keeping a large crossbow close at hand. "Question is how, and how to stop it?"

As the Adventurers wait, the moon slowly lifts further into the skies. The sound of those ominous monstrous sounds from far, far in the distance grow ever slightly quieter. Not for any lack of trying, but purely because they are moving further away.

There's shouts outside. Clatter as a group of Sith-makar rush towards the Lava-caverns. "We spotted fiends going down. We're performing a pincer maneuver!" <Draconic> They would hear.

Then, another cacophany of sounds. This time, closer by. Screetching hisses...

The sounds of metal on metal. Somewhere else on the walls, both to the north and south, a fight has broken out. But their portion of the wall is as of yet unassailed...

Instead, they bear witness to something, as sickly blue lights begin to crest the hill across the lava-'moat'. Loud hisses, violent roars. As Forgotten approach. Loud maddened howls, as they lift up wretched weapons and drool blue goop onto the ground. A few arrows immediately fly from the walls, but more are coming!

The Forsaken begin to rush forward. Straight towards the deadly lava! The Sith-makar near Aznara hisses something about 'they'll just die in the lava!' in confusion, disgust, and... most of all, sorrow. It seems to recognize one of the Forgotten rushing forward.

The one near Reithak remarks; "We're about to find out!"

"Let's help them to that, shall we?", Aznara replies to the Sith-makar who spoke to her... then turns and draws her arrow in one motion, to shoot out the window at whatever enemy target is available... and continuing her movement so as to end up on the other side of the window.

Reithak, but 'closeby'."

Aznara's arrow strikes one of the Forgotten in the chest, the arrowhead penetrating so that the arrow sticks... but the enemy just pulls it out and throws it away, howling in rage as if the injury meant nothing to it.

"Don't like this one bit, no way they're just here to demoralize." Reithak huffs, shouldering their crossbow, but not firing just yet. "At least two up top, three directly ahead, gotta make sure nowhere is overrun. Not sure how many more are coming, but we gotta watch out for everyone, yeah?"

The howling doesn't let up. The creatures rearing forward, rushing towards the lava and...

Jump in. The molten lava begins to melt the ones who are taking on the Vanguard, only for another to jump on their shoulders. Like ants, using the corpses of those traveling with them to get across!

Aznara calls out, to be heard in rooms other than her own, "I see seven down this way, six coming at my area, one further south!" She leans out to fire another arrow, ineffective though it may be -- she's doing what she can, after all.... then they start building body-bridges, and her eyes widen in horror at the very idea of it.

Crik was starting to think he enjoyed city-life more. He definitely didn't like to be on the ramparts when a horde of wailing... once-people started to run at them across the lava.

... especially when they start piling like that. "There are dozens." The corvid egalrin tells the others. "AND I FORGOT MY BOMBS!" He caws out loud, panicked with his hand crossbow in hand.

And then they start coming. The corvid's eyes widen and his beak opens when the first start to reach the walls. He quickly sidesteps away from the window and nervously pulls at his robes, before he finds a small tube. Nervous fingers quickly try to roll the tube open and the fragile parchment within... but there's a panicked caw when the paper starts to crumble in his fingers. "No, no, no..." He quickly breathes by himself, realizing his slight advantage just crumbled in front of him.

Crik lets out a desperate cry when the paper crumps disappear into dust - but he doesn't have time to do nothing but flatten against the wall as the creatures start to crawl up along the ramparts. He gestures at the other makari quietly - who by some miracle understands the panicked gesturing - and then turns.

Just in time, the dark corvid slashes-! ... and swipes clear. Tumbling forward, Crik attempts to careen out of the other's swipes, but gets cut onto the side, causing his blade to go haywire. "How many!" He calls out to the rest of the team. "Only one here!"

Anzara rushes into the room, two Sith-Makar with her. She and one of them pile onto the Forgotten menacing Crik... and her whip catches the enemy's ankle, knocking it prone. The Sith-makar ally lands a nasty followup on the target as the enemy hits the floor!

The battle is proceeding, and things are quickly getting critical in Reithak's corner. With a second Forgotten climbing through the window, and the first already having made it through - Reithak and his Sith-makar ally are their only targets. One of them manages to rend into Reithak with a fierce cut.

South of Reithak, Crik and Aznara are regrouping quickly, focusing on one of the fierce Forgotten present. Managing to hurt the creature. Bleeding it, as it pants quicker and quicker. Blue oozing 'mana' drooling from their maw as they hiss as they're pulled onto the ground!

Crik sees the makari rush into help, and the whip - he doesn't have time no time to ask question his blade raises above him. And the corvid drives the blade in and forces it to expire after it attempts to move.

"Cover the flank!" Crik calls out and then runs as fast as an egalrin can to the end of the room.

Crik manages to lay out the prone Forgotten. It takes significant amounts of team-work between Aznara managing to get her whip around its ankles to stop it from getting back up. Crik stabbing their blades into it to rip it apart, while their ally uses their morningstar to crack it in the back of the head!

Up north from them however, the assault continues. Reithak and their ally standing back-to-back. The two Forgotten coming at them with their drooling maws and viscious claws. Rending flesh, tearing through muscle and tendon!

Crik rushes past and then sees Reithak and the makari in a really bad shape. "Quick, the room is safe! I will cover the exit!" The corvid hurriedly says before rushing in. Sticking to the walls, he maneuvers behind the slashing and raging forgotten - before lunges forward to bury his blade into the ribs. Unfortunately, it doesn't down it and leaves the corvid to an open attack, causing another loud caw from him. He stumbles, cloaks looking very worn and bloody now.

"Ceinara, gotta a real rough situation here, but it ain't nothing we all can't get through, just give us all a bit of help to make sure it goes alright!" The egalrin plays, bolstering her allies with divine strength to some degree. <Auran> "Just need a mo', if I try to get back in there I don't know how much I've got left in me."

The Forgotten keep shifting their position. As hungry and 'uncoordinated' as they may seem, they still seem to hunt in a pack. Hungry. So very hungry. Drooling on the ground. Leaving behind such viscious gashes as they cut as Crik and the allies.

The battle has now gotten isolated to just one room. Sith-makar moving to aid the Adventurers, but the battle can still go either way. The Forgotten are clearly stronger than your average Sith-makar!

The sense of shame from their ally Sith-makar is clear. Hissing. Their attacks aren't hampered, but there is still something in their expressions.

One of them manages to bite into Crik's neck. And it's only through sheer luck that Crik manages to shake them off to roll away in time - its claws swiping right where he was standing a milisecond ago.

The other rushes after Aznara, trying to get her with its hungry claws and bite, but it fails to connect!

After the blow that took him to the cusp - Crik had never felt so out of touch everything. Like everything was vaguely there. He managed to stumble out of the blades way, perhaps more by luck and instinct than purpose, and he staggers away further into the room. His fingers roamed across his cloaks and the multitude of belts, cloaks and clever contraptions he hid his belongs in.

Reithak stoops down just long enough to scoop up the wand that was loose on the ground. "This right? Ah, I think I got it." Timestop by Harkashan has left.

Aznara and the remaining Sith-makar guards are putting on a good show. The Sith-makar being healed by Reithak thanking them profusely in Draconic, before rushing to aid the assault.

It's honestly a lot of kicking down at the Forgotten while it bites at their ankles - as Aznara keeps it down on the ground, and manages to lash it across the belly. It's starting to look real bad. Blue glowing goop everywhere around them!

As Reithak heals themselves, Crik commands their Sith-makar allies to finish off the last remaining Forgotten!

Reithak takes a look over to make sure the last one is dead, where the egalrin sighs, and runs over to sling their crossbow back on. "Good work, but no clue if that's the last of them or not." The inquisitor muses. "So, huddle up folks, let me makes sure you're all healed. Not getting caught off guard if there are any more, and we need to be ready." She adds, tapping the wand against her side impatiently. "Crik, you get here first, and, thanks, but you didn't need to get hurt that bad for my sake."

Being unhurt, Aznara sets up the Vanguards to watcht through windows and doors, in case more of the enemy show up -- and has them, when Crik is ready to take one's place, to one and a time to have their own woulds patched up. But first, "... heal yourself first, Reithak. You're the one of us who can freely use that wand, and we need the healing. If another attack happens too quickly, we can't afford to have you fall first.", she says to the Inquisitor.

Crik cawed from behind the boxes, trying to hide to reload his small crossbow. But then the fighting started to wane and be over, and he carefully peeks around. Slowly, the corvid makes his way over. "They snuck up on me." He complains, "I could have held my own." He waves his crossbow.
