Charn Embassy Part 1

There once was a ship that came into port. It was a good ship and a number of Alexandrian heroes were on it. That ship was also, pointedly, forgotten about. Including the Brig that came in along with the captured Frigate. Try as they might, people don't stay quiet and soon enough it wasn't the best kept secret (though not as bad as the rainbow dragon in our midst either).

This was not the goodship lollipop either, as much as we might all hope for it to be. It was one that looked decidedly like a Pirate ship - but it wasn't a pirate ship. There in lies the problem and the reason that you all found yourself brought in for a job. It wasn't like you were all just grabbed randomly, some for your connections to the Frigate in question, others for their ability to be stealthy, and others still for the ability to answer force with force. Hopefully it won't require force.

Hopefully.

The reason for the secrecy is for information. The rumor needs confirmation besides papers on a known pirate ship. It needs something that says "Yes, they are ours and we know what they are doing." And where else can we get that information except with the Charn themselves; however, since they don't seem to want to come out and declare war outright, that sort of question isn't likely to be answered truthfully.

Find us those answers.

Your rendezvous is just north west of the Embassy. If you get caught, we didn't send you and we're not about to rescue you.

Good luck.

Deak glances around at the other adventurers, and says, "Deak. Hearthguard. Some of you I've met; the rest I look forward to becoming acquainted."

Reva is here. It must be that she's willing to use the sword she carries, if need be, because it's no connection she knows of. She stands ready, one hand on her hip, looking over her companions. "I am Reva Jormunreksfel," she introduces herself. "New to Alexandria, and already travelling. I hope one of you got better directions than I got?"

Kae is, afterall there and stuff! Yup! She's not screaming yelling, or otherwise making happy exclamations at this point, but she does have a bit of an excited look about her as she peers around a corner at the embassy. Those very close to her might hear her veeery quietly humming a tune (mission impossible theme) as she studies the place curiously. She's got her armor, though not fully deployed on, and also has a collapsed long bow and sword diagonal across her back complete with a quiver full of arrows. On her right hip is a small pistol, and across the small of her back is her raygun, it's currently ollapsed, though it still kind of looks like som ekind of sleek firearm of some sorts...

Kae beams and taps her fingers on the edge of the wall while continuing to stare ahead and at the Embassy...

"Eliot Le Roux," greets what looks to be the group's youngest adventurer. The kid has a journal tucked underneath his arm and is dressed in his traveling leathers. He shrugs towards Reva, "'Fraid not. I think we are supposed to be in there." And the youth points in the direction of the Charn Embassy.

Shym'r is here as well at the rendezvous. She keeps quiet, for the most part and looks everyone over. Of course, she also doesn't think they're built for stealth, like the mission parameters stated.

Deak asks the group, "Have any of you heard the present whereabouts of any of the crew?

Shym'r looks to Deak. "what crew?"

Deak looks at Shym'r. "Why, the Charneth ship. I suppose they'll be trying to disappear."

Eliot speaks up albeit timidly, "Perhaps someone should scout out the Embassy? See what we're up against."

Shym'r says, "You mean...the same crew that was captured by the navy? I don't think they can go into hiding when they're in jail.""

Kae glances back to the others and tilt sher head before pointing out "We found papers on the ship. They link the ship to the Charn navy. What we need to find here is papers from the Charn that links the Charn to the Navy... Then there's now way that these papers are faked.. There's lots of faked letters of Marque out there.. We just gotta confirm everything." She says and then she ummms "Yah, our navy has the crew somewhere.." she mutters and scratches her head... "Most of them anyway."

Shym'r says, "and I'll try to scout things out. Try to being the key word." She says as she looks towards the embassy.....mostly peering around a corner."

Reva looks confused. "We have to confirm that the a Charn Navy ship is in the Charn Navy?" She thinks about this. "Or was the captain off making money on the side? Is that a thing?"

Deak says with dawning comprehension, "Ah, well then they'll already be interrogated." He looks at Eliot. "I guess the embassy is our beet shot."

While the two go off to scout out the exterior of the Embassy, Eliot flips through his book and says to those around him, "Sir Terramont is the head of this Embassy. Unfortunately, I know nothing about him save he is some upjumped merchant lord. That may be a good idea, Reva." And the youth turns to the mentioned pub.

Reva will head down to the pub also. On her way, she says, "WHat I'm thinking is, we say that we're thinking of signing on, but want some info in advance of what they do. Piracy, just regular patrolling, or whatever."

Shaking her head, Shym'r actually leave the group behind to make her way around the city itself. She finds out a rather interesting little tidbit of info. "Hmm......Now all we have to do is convince this guy that I've got this.....Wither." She then walks off. No one will suspect an elf around here....will they?"

"You mean Sir Terramont?" Eliot gives Shym'r a puzzled look as he is walking towards the pub.

While everyone else is dong their thing, Kae is now on a ledge, near a ceiling, though not facing the Embassy. She's sketching some things out on a big bit of paper... As soon as she gets the last touches on it, she nods to her self and goes to find the others.... Then waits at the rendevous spot for now, still firming up her map...

Shym'r makes a bit of a face and puts her hands on her hips. "Crap. I don't know the guy's name. Well.....back to the drawing board. Now to find out his name. Or him. Whichever is better.

Just as long as she doesn't get yellow narrative boxes popping up over her head.

You mean like me?

SHIT!!

Kore, for her part, approaches the rendezvous in an inobtrusive way. She isn't wanderign the town looking for special information or conversing about the nature of their task. The diminutive half-Mul monk seems to be most concerned with remaining relatively uneen while she waits to the north and wet of the Embassy itself. She wouldn't make a great information gatherer in any case. Too conspicuous. So instead Kore takes a moment to survey her surroundings for anything which might prove interesting. Even plants.

Deak accompanies the young pianist to a young man at a service counter (or the Charnese equivalent). The priest of the Compassionate One smiles a friendly look at the official, but lets Eliot lead off.

Reva finds the embassy people by shouting out for them. Simple enough. She's seen enough tough guys in her time, she'll just browbeat the little lickspittles into telling her what she wants to know. "Hey," she says. "I'm looking to sign on. But I'm in this for gold, see. So I want to know, are we going to be just sailing around the sea doing nothing? Or is there gonna be some extra gold involved?"

One might initially assume that Kore wouldn't be intimidating and generally they'd be correc.t She's tiny and rather quiet as a rule. For now she acts as Reva's shadow, impassively staring people down and adding her presence to the other's. Then one man decides to give Reve a glare and blow off her request. Kore proceeds to put her fist through his table. She then insists that he pay for it, and apologize to the Innkeeper. Afterward the monkgoes back to being quiet. She's not here to start a fight, after all.

Using Reva's more...direct entrance as cover, Eliot approaches someone who perhaps looks slightly nervous by her entrance. Someone that could be maniuplated. First, he dismisses the two women calling them brutes and showing appreciation for the Embassy's attempts at peace. Overall, his probing is subtle and carefully articulated.

Kae tilts her head and after finishing her work, she moves off to where she thinks the people are... The pub! She grins and rolls up her map, putting it into a small case in her backpack before making her way inside...

Shym'r has made her way into the pub as well...but she's keeping quiet. Unlike the rest.

Shym'r unfortunately strikes out on the name of the person using the illegal drug, but has otherwise found a nice dark corner to lurk in. A corner booth. Dimly lit. (Inserts more cliche dramatic and red highlights).

Kaelyn finds a lucky copper piece on the ground. It was lucky because someone took it from her and put a glass of wine in her hand in its place.

Reva and Kore. What a site they were! One backing up the other, and slowly working their way through one group after the next. There was a lot of bewildered stares and finally a quick nod and a lot of gesturing and pointing, "Oh! Err, well, I mean. There's like yeah! Ship stuff! You'd have to check in the files for that."

Another "We don't spend our days memorizing them!!!"

A third, "Oh God, I think I saw something on the Romancer? Was that the name of the ship you were looking for?!"

They all seem rather frantic and not really wanting to get in your way. Reva and Kore make for a terrifying pair.

Then there's Eliot, sweeping in behind with a smile and a wave, Deak following up with using drinks and a winning grin. It takes only a few moments for the two of them to run a back-and-forth on a group of three that were shying away from Reva and Kore. A sweep of hair back a giggle even. And then they nod and soon they're talking. They give a rough layout for some of the rooms, a sort of general idea of where the rooms are on the first and second story (it should fill out Kaelyn's map nicely) and then a git on the guards. They say that the guards tend to shuffle about every four hours, but they really don't know otherwise (and it wouldn't be wise to press on that one anyway).

Shym'r is waiting at the rendezvous. "Well...what'd you find out in the pub?" She says with her arms crossed.

Reva meets back up with her compatriots, compares answers?

Eliot relays what he learned from his conversation at the pub. "It's tricky. The 4 hour rotation could perhaps be useful. Maybe there are more openings, then," He shrugs. "I might be able to district some of the guards but not for long."

Kae watches the whole big interchange, she makes sure to thank for her drink while she sips on it and watches her fellow potential infiltrators do their little bit of social engineering... She then yawns and tilts her head curiously while listening... Next when everone is together and away from prying eyes, she uses the information she gathered her self and from conersations and shows the now 'completed' map...

Deak comments to Eliot. "Don't sell yourself short, kid. I'm sure you can be very distracting when you want to be."

Shym'r says, "Found out that one of the people in the embassy has an addiction with an illegal drug. So I imagine we could exploit that and get in.....""

Reva tells the others, "Apparently they have records of their goings on. I guess in Charn, even pirates pay taxes? There's some sort of records or files."

"That...that could work," Eliot nods. "Do you know what the drug is or where we could find it?" He looks at Reva, "The records shouldn't be too hard to find once we're in."

Elio also quirks a grin at Deak's words. "I was thinking of reading them a story, but we might not even have to do that if we can get a hold of this drug."

Shym'r says, "I do actually....and it's illegal in Charn. So I'll have to be careful....and while you have them distract, I'll make my way in and try to get the files...."

It's Reva that really managed to dig in and get that name. Might not be the most expected, but Eliot and Deak probably needed to recharge from that social engineering, and Kore was actually talking to a shrub for a bit (a very amazingly well detailed shrub that looked like an elf - D'oh!).

Reva finally manages to figure out who exactly at the embassy has this bit of a problem, using Shym'r's contact for where you can buy the Wither. Turns out they're the supplier.

Tabatha is addict. She's a relatively low level employee who is in charge of the shipping and receiving for the embassy. Thanks to Kaelyn's notes and the bit of intelligence gathering at the pub, you even know where her office is (and that she works the night shift). She takes the shipments in the north west corner, at a smaller entrance than the one one, even a bit out of the way. Only downside is that there's guards that check the goods going into the building to that entrance too (though since they're on the outside, there might not be any immediately inside).
