Overview

Mama Bula is a notable of the western Alexandrian districts whose status borders on that of urban myth. Few can lay claim to meeting Mama Bula in person but everyone seems to know someone who knows someone who's met her (or been the beneficiary of her generosity). The skeptical will often dismiss Mama Bula as a public pseudonym for the doing of good deeds under a cloak of anonymity.

From breadline donations to orphanage support, the works of Mama Bula seem to be a fairly frequent occurrence. Still, there are darker stories muttered between close acquaintances of Mama Bula's wrath when she or her wards are crossed.

the Kids

The most concrete evidence of the existence of Mama Bula (for those who haven't had occasion to meet her) would be her self-proclaimed wards and employees. Mostly what folk would consider "young adult," this group ranges from the orphaned and alone to the wayward and wronged by society. The list below is not all-inclusive but features a handful of the prominent members.

Cesseli is a slender kobold in an elaborate wrap of bright-yellow and glittering grey. He's like a scaled peach; mostly a red-orange in color with a softer yellow-tinted underbelly. He often wears a book bag with cross-shoulder strap. Friendly to a fault, he's a clerk that often works in the employ of MB but serves the majority of his time as a devotee of Serriel. He comes to Alexandria by way of Blar.

Git (Gitlweet Blustrunk) is gobber with a lighter shade of yellow-green skin and freckles, wide-set, yellowed eyes, and lopsided head of greasy hair half-shaved. He's fond of wearing a baggy, purple shirt under a black shoulder wrap and oversized gloves over his fidgety hands. He wears a flat pack on his back and carries a shortstaff of twisted, blue-black metal. He was removed from the Society for Progressive Arcanists for the unsupervised creation of undead. His familiar, Ratto, was confiscated and destroyed. He practices magic now as an apostate sans tutor.

Heady, previously a battered and mysterious wargolem with a glowing blue will-o'-wisp in place of a head and equally-copious amounts of rust and patina. The construct was recently found destroyed near the half-buried wreck of a Kulthian craft. The other kids say he's been repaired (resurrected?) since but has yet to make an appearance. It is possible that the wargolem is the result of grim experimentation.

Kerry-Anne is a solidly-built Eldanar. She shares her father's strong jawline but has a thinner, hawkish nose and dark, curly hair. She became estranged from her father in a dispute over her marriage to one of the Dae. She lost an arm during the wight invasion of Alexandros and has had it replaced with a beruned, wooden prosthetic. Likely the eldest of the group, she's the defacto leader in the field. Recent casualties had her under serious strain.

Odundik or Dunny has dark skin like a strong tea, blotchy and spotted with milky-grey irregularities. The lucht's hair is black and messy, soaked and hanging from a scarred scalp and his hand is only a thumb and three long fingers. One of his eyes is grey, the color same as the spots on his skin with a thin black ring around an ice-blue pupil. His second eye is an unremarkable brown and almond-shaped. He has a high-pitched and accented voice, occasionally mixing up words. He'd been found in stasis and awakened by the Academy but left with Git after the students treated him cruelly.

Tamzin has a button nose, unevenly-cut hair, freckles, new jacket (that she's quite proud of), and soft-leather boots. Looking much like a common street waif, the human is rail-thin with a boyish build. She has a thick accent from her years on the streets of Alexandria and a curious relationship with the concept of 'other people's property.' She met Git while they were both jailed for their own crimes.

Merkabah and the Legacy of Kulthus

It's been over 20-years since the Siege of Merkabah but hints of the lost civilization have been crawling out of the past around Mama Bula's kids. Both Heady and Odundik seem to have some ties to black artifice, Merkabah. and/or Kulthus. The kids (as well as other Alexandrian adventurers) have also located a crashed ship of seemingly-Kulthian origin and partnered with an artificer to explore the ruins further.

The name Khroel'da Pratart may refer the crashed ship or a supposed demi-plane granted to a missing (dead?) ally of High Artificer Saluven. Initial exploration of the craft led to the recovery of many items of note currently split between the possession of Aehrick Oddskeeper, Mama Bula, and Integrity C. Truefeather.
