The air of solemn, heavy divinity in the area is often broken by laughter. The dual presence of the deities Althea and Daeus, man and wife, stand towards the center, with their children and their children's temples positioned around them. The presence of the divine is felt not only by their temples, but also by the actions of their worshippers. The great plaza is as a social center, paved in brilliant, white flagestones and covered in benches and sitting areas. Priests, acolytes, and servicefolk of all stripes roam the plaza, going from one task to the other.
At the front of the temples of Daeus and Althea, at the Plaza's centermost point, rests a great fountain, the cheerful waters reflecting the Sun during the day, and the Moon and Stars at night. The fountain is strategically centered, and is oft a place for wisdom and lesson-giving. It is not uncommon for a priest of some stripe or the other to stand there, surrounded by the curious and faithful, delivering messages of hope or contemplation. At other times, it and the plaza become a landscape of celebration of the holy holidays.
Few vendors are seen in the plaza--the nearby temples provide most food or services. Towards the west, the great Bridge stretches across the river, and towards the east, the Redridge mountains. The plaza rests in the midst of it all, the temples massive and grand on the Alexandrian scale.
Benthus is standing guard by the temple of Daeus. He has his back on one of the stone pillars that form the foundation of the invisible dome that covers the entire compound. He is soaking on the sun's rays... or what is left of it.
Selia is crossing the temple plaza. This is not so unusal. That she be spotting doing so is somewhat less common, but the average individual likely know not of this tidbit. The board with a large cloth bundel on top that the Lucht is dragging behind, well, that's a bit noticable.
Kiroth is out among the barricades and he's helping to dismantle them now that the job is done and the city if safe again. He's being careful so that the supplies can be reused.
Benthus shifts his gaze from the surrounding area to the singular person carrying a bundle of something on a board on her back. This brings a shift in his expression as well. From idle plassitude to alert curiosity. "Kiroth, are children suppose to be out at night?" He is saying this to his brother paladin who is somewhere nearby, relying on his companion's hearing to pick up his query.
Selia is far enough away to not hear the question, which is likely best for all involved. She is, however, getting closer, pauseing a moment let the board down and streth her fingers before resuming the dragging. The plank in question is almost as large as the halfer, some five feet long and a foot wide, the bundle atop about the size of a cooler, though obviously light enough to be carried without much trouble.
Kiroth looks over at Benthus as he continue to work by torch light. He looks around and he sees Selia, "Children are not supposed to, but that is a Lucht Siuil." He sees that she is having trouble and he moves over towards her, "Excuse me do you need help?"
Benthus blinks his eyes for a moment, showing signs of disbelief. He shakes it away and proceeds to push himself off of the pillar he was leaning upon. As the other paladin asks the halfling a question, the half-elf moves closer and tilts his head a bit in observation. A brow is raised in an appearance of interest.
Selia drops the end of the board, one hand straying to the blade at her belt, when she's suddenly approached. Eyeing the pair a moment, the little woman relaxes, and shakes her head. "Nah, I got it. Thank anyways. Ain't heavy, jus awkward." Low Charnish practically drips off the Lucht's accent.
Kiroth nods, "I see well if you do need help just ask. What brings you to the temple district or just passing through?"

Benthus continues to watch the interaction between Kiroth and the lucht. His eyes take on a sharper glint as he observes the halfling's response. His arm crosses in front of his chest, and a somewhat sterner demeanor is conveyed.
GAME: Selia rolls bluff: (3)+18: 21
Selia shakes her head. "'eaded ta da Tarien place. Need blokes ta watch over stuff, and I ain't got nuthin better ta do." She is filled with innocence and unicorn tears. Though one might question what the heck was making the unicorns cry.

Kiroth ahs and nods a little bit, "Well it's right over there. What do they need it for I thought the roof was all done?"
Benthus continues to look at the half-ling with skepticism, but for just a little while longer before he drops his hands and puts on a cheery smile. "The temple district is often a safe place to pass through, so if passing through to a different part of the city was your concern then you made the right choice. But still, those watching this district would wonder why you would be carrying such a large board and not just ask for a porter with a wagon to do so. It would be the more sensible thing to do."
Selia shakes her head. "On is one thing, done is another. Lotta details ta finish, other work ta be done. Can use wot 'ands they can git." Looking to Benthus, she snorts softly. "And when da last time ya seen somebody do something just cause is sensible? Anyways, is my gear, ain't no reason to bother no porter."
Benthus brings a quick raise to one his brows when he hears the Lucht's response, "The board is part of your gears?" He draws himself back showing disbelief. A look of careful pondering knots his brows for a moment before he looks at the halfling again. Curiously, he asks with a bit of skepticism, "Is it magical?"
Kiroth nods, "True the temple interior is yet unfinished." He looks to Benthus, "She said that she was going to the temple. Why don't we just let her go on her way?"
Benthus shrugs his shoulders at Kiroth's suggestion, "I'm not comfortable with this brother. But if you see something that I don't then I will let this pass."
Selia snorts softly, but grins at Benthus. "Nah, nuthin like that. Jus a flat place ta sleep. Ain't everywhere gots one, and most already taken for something or another. Jus need two set spots ta put da ends on, and yer set."
Benthus looks up and to the side as a sigh escapes his lips. He shakes his head and says, "I guess my idea of being sensible is not so sensible in around these areas." He turns and lets Kiroth deal with the halfling as he resumes to his post.
Kiroth nods, "And if it rains you can put it over your head and be protected from the elements. I hope you aren't using it here if you need a place to stay I'm sure one of the temples has room."
Selia grins. "Aye, temples usually gots someplace can bunk, though price can be a bit much. Anyways, reckon spots be working on da roof gots tools and such on da floor, ain't so suited fer sleepin."
Benthus proceeds to rest his back on the pillar he was leaning on earlier and observes the conversation from a distance. He pulls his cowl a bit lower, vieling his eyes underneath its shadow. With a foot proped against the pillar for a comfortable support, he draws his arms akimbo and dips his head a little. A look of a man resting beside a wall is established.
Kiroth hmms and shrugs a little bit, "I've found most temples are willing to help out those that are in need. Yah that can be hard to sleep if there is a much of tool on the ground."
Selia nods, and starts on her away again. "Oh aye, most gots Traveler Quarters, but want ya ta attend a sermon or something. Can be a high price iffen da speaker is dull."
Kiroth laughs a little bit, "That's true, but if you don't snore too loudly and sit in the back you can usually get a good nap in."
Benthus stands statuesque in the background, head dipped closer to his chest.
Selia frowns mildly, obviously not comfortable with the idea of napping during a sermon, but nods anyway, and carries on. She disappears into the temple of Tarien, ready to keep an eye on things. Who knows, she might even eventually let the Tariens know she's there.
