  • Summary: A group of folks are doing research, as is expected within the University. Aryia, Patch, Mikilos, and Totally-not-Venom as Violet meet and acquaint themselves with one another. Some of the wolfish ongoings is discussed, as well as clothes, and perhaps a concernt to listen to in the future.

University Plaza, Midday

The city's been busy. With the warnings of wights, refugees from the rural cities, and an increasing sense of 'it's getting really packed in this place', perhaps now was a good a time as any to get some research done.

Thankfully, the weather is holding up. A cloudless sky, though despite the bright sun, it's not oppressive, as a cool western breeze has wafted away the moisture from the rain ereyesterday.

A heavily scarred mul'neissa woman holds a few journals under an arm, notes sticking out of it. Silver framed shades pressed against her face tilt back to look up at the sky, grimace at it, then continue onward, a hand tightening a green jacket tied around her waist. Her cheeks her puffed out in annoyance.

Patch had come here to work on her own research, but the days seems to have been fruitless as she has taken a break from combing through library and book. She rests on a bench, watching those in the plaza with a bored expression while left to her own thoughts, scribbling in a journal. "So... they laid a trap." her mind seeming to have a topic it mulls while the scared woman gets several glances, taking her in, and raising brow to the tomes she holds under arm.

Mikilos does have his own research projects, but today is shopping, exiting one of the many clockwork shops with a package tucked under his arm. "Yes yes, I'll be sure to let you know. Fare well." An eye roll and a smile as he closes the door, peering around idly at what the plaza happens to offer now.

The mul'neissa seemed to be on a power walk, moving briskly with some sort of destination in mind. However, there was that tingling sensation of being watched. She was used to it at this point. Being observed on the other hand...

A slight shift of the head, silver bands on the ears glinting in the sun. And she executes a left face and makes a beeline straight towards Patch. Blue booted footfalls stop just short of them, and she stares. A hand raises and flips over, shaking it with brows pinched. A very 'What do you want?' expression.

Emerging from another vector, this a purveyor of those goods most notably availed upon by scribes and accountants, a fair human woman is bearing a collection of nameless books sandwiching parchment against an ecclectic stock of less anonymous tomes.

Her black hair is plaited into an almost impractically long braid, with streaks of violet threading throughout it's length, occaisionally meeting the back of a calf as she strides on soft soled boots along the thoroughfare. Her movement is unhurried, and of a certain, understated grace, mostly for it's uniformity, and her dark eyes gaze about with a sort of casual curiosity.

"I mean, I wasn't trying to be too forward, but I was admiring." Patch says with a casual tone, closing her notebook and offering a shrug. "I'd apologize, but I am not thinking that's a crime." her smirk flashed, glancing away then, and catching sight of Mikilos in the crowd. "So, you for hire? You're the intimidatingly beautiful sort." her words for the other woman still as she raises a hand to wave. "Hoy, Mikilos Mithralla!" she calls, not yet noticing Venom having arrived after the confrontation.

Mikilos catches sight of Patch just about the same time as he's seen, raising his own hand in greeting and approaching with a smile. "Hoy Patch, Aryia, how are you ladies today?" he inquires, glancing between the two.

The scarred shadow elf purses her lips, a white furred brow raising. There's a glimmering flicker behind her shades that beats out the light of day; eyes looking Patch over. A minor huff leaves her, them pulling a satchel forward to shove in various journals. 'Clothes', 'Boat', and 'Stuff' labeled in Sildanyari on the tomes before they're shoved in one by one.

She rifles around a pocket on her jacket near her knees, a side glance taken to spy Mikilos as she gives an up nod in greeting towards him. Aryia, now identified, pulls out a pocket journal and pen, pops the cap off with her teeth, and scribbles some writing down. It gets presented to Patch. The words read in Trade:

'Depends on the job, and if you can afford me.'

Another scan as she's looking about- and she spies the long braid a distance away. Her shoulder relax. A two noted, familiar low-high whistle comes splits from her lips to get their attention.

Ignorant of the mul'niessan meeting, as her angle of travel precludes the sweep of her gaze.

The familiarly trilled whistle, however, tugs at the corners of the scholar's lips and she turns, sweeping about to try to find-

Ah, there!

With her arms clutching her books so, she's constrained from waving in return, but she does come about to venture that way to see Aryia and her...

New friend...

... friends?

Ahem, "Hello!" she overs, a demure smile at her lips as she enters something of a normal conversational range, "How are you?"

Patch reads the note written by Aryia, nodding her head and then glancing to Mikilos to answer first. "I almost let myself walk into an ambush, and the more I look into things..... the more I don't like them." the Bard says, sighing as she flashes an apologetic glance back to the Mul'niessa. "I doubt I could afford you with coin, but I will keep that in mind if I find anything I can barter." she muses.

"I'm called, Patch... as Sir Mikilos stated. I take it you are this Lady Aryia?" the whistle and motions calling Venom other causing notice of Venom as she approaches. "Hello! It's starting to become a proper party!"

Mikilos blinks and quirks a brow. "An ambush?" He does NOT glance towards Aryia. "What happened? I take it everything worked out well enough." As Venom arrives, he nods greeting. "Salutations and welcome."

Aryia takes a couple steps towards the Acanian woman, standing close beside her and giving a brief yet warm side hug. She gives a thumbs up towards her in response. A faint smile tugging on her lips.

One that drops at the title. More scribbling.

The word '~~Lady~~' is crossed out as she shows it.

Some more writing. 'I will keep that in mind. Depends on how useful you are.'

Her brows pinch at the mention of an ambush.

"I tracked Zalgamin through the city, and into the woods." Patch's first words for Mikilos. "Saw some interesting things on the streets, but when he left Alexandria, they tried to corner me in the forest." waving a hand, and then raising a finger to her lips. "The rest I'd prefer to talk with you about in your shop. Who knows what beasts have ears." the Dawn elf says, sighing as she reads the note from Aryia.

"I can be useful..." The written words drawing a s smirk from Patch, watching the Mul and new arrival socialize. "I just don't know if this is the kind of trouble I should be recruiting for."

The woman leans contentedly into Aryia's hug, the resultant smile closing her eyes over the splash of freckles at her cheeks.

As she is relieased, she straightens, and spends a moment shifting her burdens to get them better situated, and looks between the gathered, "Thank you!"

Talk of ambushes sobers her expression some, and she glances concernedly from Aryia to either of her new companions, "Is... everything all right?"

Mikilos frowns mildly, nodding at the tale, but unsure. "Zalgamin, that was the statuette holder? Or am I mixing up problems of the city again?" He nods to the Mul "Aryia and I have fought demons before, I trust her discression. And I trust her choice in companions." He nods to Venom. "I believe we met at the tavern, but don't think were properly introduced."

Aryia tilts her head to the side, a grey ear flicking as they discuss things about this Zalgamin figure. Dots connect in her head, and she frowns. Scribble.

'I want no fucking part of this shit.'

At least she's honest.

The well dressed sun elf gets a side eye from Aryia. More scribbling.

'This is Violet. My girlfriend.'

Scribble.

'Where did you get your clothes.'

The human takes all this in, eyes flitting speaker to speaker in turns. There is a nod to the fellow, "Ah, well met then, sir. I'm Violet, it's a pleasure to see you again." she explains, even whilst Aryia is explaining in her fashion.

She glances down to the scribbling and smiles with a nod once more, then looks to, "Miss Patch, likewise a pleasure to meet you."

Patch smirks at the note flashed before her, nodding her head. "I am sure you don't. Neither do I, except some inquisitor thinks I am far more capable than I am." musing with a shake of her head. "Cute, I think you two make a lovely couple. A pleasure, Violet." the woman not missing a beat as she goes down the list of Aryia's. "And my clothes? Well, this coat I had made on the road from some Tsuran travelers. Though Lady Sandiel here in town is delightful with a needle. Talented in many ways she is." answering honestly.

"As for the totems? Yes. He was the man whom one was stolen from." Patch's words back to business with Mikilos. "I'm at a loss over it. I should seek Cor'lana or Telamon, but... it's clearly dangerous, and some information sits bad on the tongue."

Mikilos nods to Aryia and shrugs. "That's fair." He nods to Patch, considering. "I think the city is safe as can be expected, but agree is troublesome. I'd reccomed shareing what you can as soon as is reasonable, such information doesn't get better with age."

The mention of Sandiel makes Aryia's face twitch in some sort of awkward adornment, pulling the scars on her face around. She shifts on her feet. Scribble.

'I know Sandy. She's something. I'm glad I make my own shit because I'm never getting shoved in a corset again or I fucking swear.'

She looks between the two. Scribble.

'Talk to them as soon as you can. Especially if its bullshit totems.' She shudders.

"She's an acquired taste... yes." The Bard admits to the talk of Sandy, laughing again as she makes to rise from her seat, and tuck away her journal. "I will talk with them soon enough." confirming and looking between the small group. "I just had to think over it all, and sort... you do no one any good if you're mind and words are a jumble."

At the compliment, the human blushes some and dips in a somewhat constrained curtsey, for her burdens, "Thank you very much, that's very kind of you."

There's a winning smile turned Aryia's way at that, fond but humble.

She doesn't intrude as such upon the finer conversation twixt Mikilos and Patch, allowing that it's full before responding to her love's notes.

"I'e heard about this... er.. Sandy a fair amount." Violet notes, shifting her weight to the other hip as she shimmies her books to compensate for the tendency of the stack to drift, "Totems sounds like a story." she observes, glance to Aryia.

Corsets would, too.

Mikilos may have a different opinion on corsets, but he's not the one wearing them. "Lady Sandiel is... quite the personality." He frowns thoughtfully, glancing to Patch. "Does she still banish people to a pocket dimension when they annoy her?"

Aryia's brows raise and she lets out a languid sigh. Exuding the aura of 'you can say that again'.

The compliment had a delayed reaction, her looking up to Violet, blinking behind her shades, and she rubs her neck. A tinge of crimson dusting her cheeks.

Some more scribbling.

'She's a very good seamstress. But she does the opposite of me: put you in everything to see what you like and what you look good in. I just put you in what you like.'

She looks up to Violet, lips askew sideways. Scribble.

'Totems were used with the demon shit.'

Patch looks back to Mikilos with a shrug of a shoulder. "Hells if I know. She's pleasant enough when I am around, but... I like it when she dresses me up." a slight flush growing.

Another laugh comes from the Bard as she reads those scribbles, and finds herself nodding. "So, does that mean you make clothes too?" something about the writing drawing her interest. It's Venom(Violet) whom gets the next glance, nodding. "Some believe these totems are tied to The Dread Wolf, but... I don't know if any know for sure."

"Oh, dear..." Violet returns, straightening a little at the concept of 'pocket dimensions' being a punitive measure, "Is that... common..?"

Cue furtive glance between the elves.

With Patch's returns, the human seems to regain herself and she nods, "SHe made these for me, aren't they wonderful?"

To help sell the point, she twists tither and yon to afford other hangles of her attire, but only so much so she doesn't end up spilling her literature all over the place.

Pause, "Dread Wolf?"

Mikilos sighs. "And I find myself pondering trying to make clothing. I've made robes and cloaks, how hard could it be? Oh right, very hard. To make say, a dress is easy enough. One that fits right and looks nice? Significantly harder." A glace to Violet. "No, is a fairly powerful spell. Effectively harmless, but still handy to have someone just, go away, for a little while."

Aryia shares a look with Patch, one that subtly looks aside as she shifts on her feet. Seems like she was dressed up as well, but didn't seem to be privy to it too much.

The supposed mute woman can't help but puff her chest out and smooth her hair back as her work is being shown off by her love.

She just shrugs at the mention of Dread Wolf.

"Oh, it's adorable!" Patch's attention on the garments, smirking as a flick of glance goes back over Aryia once more. "I didn't realize you had such talented fingers. I'd of not guessed." admiring, and surprised at this discovery. "I thought you just dressed well, and had wonderful markings." speaking of scars, and then glancing away. "So you have a real talent for it. I'm impressed."

As for the talk of the 'Dread Wolf', Patch offers a shrug, and lower words. "Just, bringer of bad times, and madness. As I said, rumors and murmur."

Hrm...

Not a particularly comforting possibility.

Violet absorbs that, and the elaboration on the Dread Wolf before she looks to the heavens for a moment, "I hope it won't be more trouble for the city."

A sigh, and a wan smile, "I fear I should get these back before they lock the doors. It was nice to see you again," this said with that little dip of a curtsey, then to Patch, "And it was lovely meeting you, I hope you have a pleasant evening."

The human leans against Aryia, still hugging her stack of books and parchment to her chest; then kisses and speaks softly against the Mul'niessa's hair, "I'll see you at home, dear. I made that stew you like, it just needs to be warmed up."

She straightens, carefully curtseys one last time, then starts to briskly step off toward one of the repositories of knowledge, likely hoping to beat the late charges.

Mikilos waves to Violet as she heads off, glancing to the remaining pair. "So what brought you here to the Plaza in the first place?"

Aryia smirks, shifting her weight onto her back foot. She scribbles some more.

'Thanks. I do a lot of work with my hands.'

Said hands were incredibly calloused. A brow raises at the mention of markings, but she just nods.

And her lips pull down at talk of bad times. An expression donning her face that could only be described as 'you got called in for an opening shift when you're on closing'.

Her attention shifts to look up to Violet, eyes closing as her expression softens, long ears drooping. Head bobbing along to the whispered words. She gets up on her tip toes to riposte a peck on the cheek before the human woman heads on out.

The mute watches her go, a rare mote of vulnerable tenderness. She firms up, ears straightening back out, and her attention is pulled back to the group. Some scribbling.

'I was looking at local laws for making chapters or organizations.'

Patch raises a brow as she reads Aryia's scribbled words, looking after Violet after Ariya gives the woman a peck on the cheek. Yes, she seems to like watching the two, smiling and carrying on after Venom had to departed. "What sort of organization is it that you want to found?" she asks, the talk of other things dropped for now, but taking a moment to take in those calloused and work-worn hands. "Is it for work, or... 'work'." the bard's use of inflection coming with a teasing grin. "You look like the adventuring sort, and yet I have learned so many soft and wonderful things." her eyes then seeking Mikilos where he's been standing. "I came here for research, which failed."

Mikilos quirks a brow at Aryia's message. "What sort of organization? Have you met Squire TrueFeather? Think he'd be able to tell you a fair bit of information off the top of his head. I've read over most of the local statutes, but am not an expert of how they all fit together."

To Patch he inquires "Reseach into what? The only failure is giving up before you learned something, even if it's not what you wanted to find."

Aryia tilts her head to the side. A 'tch' leaving her lips in a tut at the second 'work'. Scribble, show to both elves.

'I want to start a society for masterless pugilists. All the ones here are temple affiliated.' Seems as if those hands do more than just tailoring.

The question of if she's met someone is answered with a shake of her head. Never met them.

Patch bobs her head, looking to knuckles and hand again with a raised brow. "Well I wish you the best of luck with that. It sounds like a cause you will fight for." musing and looking back to Mikilos after his words. "Truefeather is smart, and prattles on about the law, but he seems to know it well. I trust him... at least in intention." she muses, and sighs as she looks back about the grounds. "I should sing, or play my instrument for you sometime. Bring the lover, I'm sure she'd love it too."

Mikilos nods thoughtfully, considering. "The Colloseum may have information, but I'm not sure how they're organized. Intergity C TrueFeather, a blue feathered Egalrin, very knowledgeable, quite exciteable, slightly oblivious, even by my standards." He nods to Patch. "I keep forgetting to invite you to visit, built a Ballroom some time back, doesn't get used nearly so often as I'd expected, but the acoustics are good, I think."

Aryia gives a thumbs up, her pressing a fist into her other hand as her knuckles give a satisfying report of >pa-pa-pop!<. Little moonbursts of light glimmer off her hand before she shakes it out.

The offer to play for her and Violet piques her interest. An appraising squint. Followed by a dip of the chin and another thumbs up.

The suggestion of the Colloseum makes a sigh leave her. Scribble.

'I don't want to make a mercenary band.'

She stares at Mikilos. Stares. Stares.

Scribble.

'Worse than you? Fuck me.'

"I don't know if she means your oblivious, or that she's surprised that TrueFeather can be a bit talkative?" The Bard muses, laughing at the scribbles, but nodding her head all the same. "I'd be happy to sing anywhere there is company willing to listen, but more.... so many juicy couples in this city, and it has me in awe." smirking at Aryia again. "It's nice, seeing the city so lively and full of love."

"That's about enough for me today... I have things to discuss, and people to meet I think. I have sorted my thoughts." The Bard excusing herself with a short bow, teasing in her sweep of hand. "If you excuse me, I am going to be on my way."

Mikilos waves vaugely. "The Colloseum isn't only for mercenaries... just mostly." He nods, and waves to Patch. "Both, I think, but I can be pretty oblivious."

Aryia chuckles: a silent sort of sound that's just mostly heard through the wind passing through her nose. And, a rare, slight smile. A thumbs up. She'll keep an eye out for a performance.

She steps aside, gesturing outwards to let Patch go. She herself hefts her bag, and nods to Mikilos before shrugging. "You are pretty dense," she gestures with a hand. And even if one didn't know the motions, the gist could still be understood. <Handspeech/Tongues>

She sighs, and her gaze lifts up to the pale moon lingering in the sky, distant. Can't catch a break at all these days, huh?
