  • Summary: The battle continues. Braelnoir has warned of the Erinyes' threat, and that Aryia and Seyardu should get clear. Chain Lightning and a Flame Strike have captured the attention of the authorities, and another flame strike confirms that there is a big problem. The Erinyes continue to pepper Merek with arrows and threaten Unholy Blight on him if he attempts to cast. Braelnoir and Seldan shout warnings. Aryia flees his proximity, doing a flying kick into Lady Tiliyane's face, breaking her nose and stunning the enchantress. Seyardu heals Merek and moves a slight distance away. Seldan casts another flame strike. Merek casts Holy Smite, taking down one of the Erinyes facing him, but not before Seyardu was killed as she put the blight on him. Seldan flies up to engage one of the Erinyes shooting Merek, as the Enchantress snaps out of it and dominates Braelnoir. The merc is commanded to render Merek unconscious. The other Erinyes summons a Bearded Devil, while Merek casts a Dispel on Braelnoir and Seyardu slips closer to death. The enchantress slips into a tree, a Bearded Devil appears, Seldan chases one of the Erinyes over and slices her out of the sky. Braelnoir moves on the Bearded Devil while Aryia tries to stun the enchantress then settles for attempting to ensure the fallen fallen angels are really dead. They prove very resilient to her attacks. Paladins from the Temple of Serriel and Eluna arrive, as well as soldiers from the South Bridge garrison. Merek puts Chains of Light on the tree, and Seldan forces the enchantress out into them. She has one last trick, refusing to surrender to Merek, she dominates the troops and tells them to fire on her and everyone else. Arrows rain down. Everyone takes cover. The troops snap out of it as they get to the second part of the order and the remaining Erinyes teleports with one of her downed sisters. The dead ram and other Ashen Wings, remaining behind. Strange.

Overhead, the Highbridge spans. Here is a pleasant enough bank, if one does not mind the ship traffic amid the broad and winding Tornmawr. A few picnicers spend their time here and a few blankets are present. Many of them are craftsfolk and other "ordinary" people, as well as a multitude of tired river sailors here on break. Or, the watchful husbands and wives of sea-sailors. To the south, the great river empties into that great expanse.

It was a rainy day at the riverbank.

Several friends had unintentionally met up to relax, exercise, sketch, fish, and worry over worrisome things. They shared these concerns, a funeral for a Ner'Sektoth, an attack at Serriel's Temple, the Shards of Animus, Giggles' Game. And Merek, who seems tied in in some way or his past is catching up with him. Who then arrive, with something following him.

Battle ensues! The Invisible pursuers reveal themselves to be the Ash Wings and Fey Sildanyari from the temple. They appear to be concentrating on the Seer.

The merc groks some of the situation.

Perking up some as the flappy bitch lines up on her and gets cold feet, Brae sneers a, "C'mon down, skank, ain't afraid o'mortals now, are ya?" as she weighs in the value of ther relative positions and tactical risks.

She flashes signs of, "Mortal danger. Scatter to eight yards, expedite!" as she starts to move to try and cover Ari's withdrawl. <handspeech>

As she arcs out to get a good rushing angle on the Hellbilly goat, she snaps in another cypher, "Brother, they'll hamper you or force the field," With both hands tightly clutching the shaft of the scythe, the Korite brings it down and around, coming up into the creaure from below and sheering it through in a gout of infernal blood, and at the end of her flourish, ends with a pant, "and you're still the primary target!" <merctalk>

When seconds count the guards are minutes away. So they say. Not today, not after the recent disturbances. And while the scry from five thousand feet isn't great, some things jump out. Chain Lightning! Flame Strike! There's a sudden glow in the sky illuminating the area, spotlighting trouble.

Horns sound at the South Tower garrison, and there's the distant duplicate from the sister bridge to the north. The watchers at towers saw something also. All of Alexandria likely saw the Flame strikes. Alerts are going up.

Someone will come... just not yet.

"Daemila?" The crotchety old voice stops short in its remonstrances. "Boy, I know that name. She rules something down in the Iron Hells, or did. She ain't gonna be here with just a few. Go get 'er first."

"Kanian, when did you...?" The younger, deeper female voice chimes in, but Kanian cuts her off. "It's fightin' time, Ti! Story time's later!"

"About time you figured that out," _Ti_ grumbles.

Meanwhile, Seldan is ignoring them both, in the middle of repeating the same spell he did last time, ending with that brief prayer that sends more fire crashing down, this time further away from the battle proper. The _whoosh_ is spectacular, again leaving its targets more than a little singed.

He shoots half a breath's glance at the embattled mul'niessa and their arriving help. _Reinforcements, good._ he thinks, but that is all he has time for as he looks up. "Unholy Blight affects the whole area!" he shouts. A pair of snow-white, feathered angel's wings emerge from his back, and he fairly leaps into the humid air, pushing powerfully off the ground to fly up to their level. "I care not who you think you are, your kind do not belong in this city, and in holy Ni'essa's name, I will see you gone from it!"

There was much going on, but at least the most immediate threat was gone. But the others seemed focused on Merek for the most part. The sith'makar reached out to place a hand on Merek's arm, releasing a small burst of healing magic to mend some of the wounds from the arrows that did exist, before she doubled back more to the river, staying in side the warding circle as she angles herself to the still mostly visible threats.

With a large continual light illuminating the area, things are much easier to see, even if they appear harsh in the cold white light. The halo surrounding the invisible Fey-Sidanyari glitters even more reflectively.

She casting, it's not clear what.

She seems to be communicating, perhaps telepathically. What she is up to is a conundrum, being invisible causes that. Although, her actions might be deduced.

Braelnoir growls suddenly, an angry glint in her eyes. A rather attractive piece of jewelry around her neck, all geometric shapes, reflecting the harsh lights and flames, suddenly grows brighter and brighter, then >SNAPS< loudly with a tinkle of glass, and goes dark.

The merc shudders again, almost a seizure and turns.

Towards Merek.

She's sliced the goat demon in half. Her scythe is bloody, dripping, with bits of entrails and matted hair.

The Silver-haired reaper has another on her list.

Simply put, Aryia was not fine. Between the threats, the surge of magic that shoots through her, the bursts of holy fire, the turncoat, and her addled mind from the fog, she was panicked. Terrified. And whatever she could do to make it stop became top priority.

A small part of her was a little miffed that she couldn't get retribution against the goat, but in the grand scheme of things, it didn't matter. She could run, but unlike last time where there wasn't anyone there she was particularly attatched to, this time there was. So Aryia blitzs out of the circle, feet splashing against the bank, and jumps up high into the air. Tucks her feet in. And explodes outwards towards the invisible yet illuminated being.

Thunder booms.

Her boots crash dead on to their face.

Aryia cracks their nose, blood spraying into the air. The pugilist twists and lands on her feet, fists raised with features contorted into a mixture of fear and rage.

"Ferrrk!" The invisible figure screeches, sounding very congested.

"Oops. Guess you weren't a friend, little lamb." The hovering Ash Wing laughs, grinning at Seyardu. Softskin expressions are so hard to read, normally. Not that one. She follows with a deep intonation, ever word wrong, unsettling.

The grass surrounding Merek withers, and dies. Flowers, bugs. Everything in the soil. It reeks of brimstone. There's a searing heat, sucking up the moisture. For a moment even the clouds turn red, the raindrops into blood, for everyone inside the effect.

"Did you miss your time in the Iron Hells, Merek? We thought we'd give you a little vacation there again." The Ash-wing cackles. It's not a large area, but it encompasses the Seer, Seyardu, Braelnoir. The silverguard can feel the unholiness, just below and beside him.

As the Seer huddles to defensively cast, Daemila as she's been identified, fires an arrow. One that misses, because of the magic in play.

And getting smacked by a sword that knows her name.

The talkative one teases, "Looks like you've got a friend." All six of the Ashen Wings jerk their heads suddenly, as if hearing something no one else can.

The withering effect effect on the ground, and the animals around dying, the spell had its efefct on the larger creatures caught in it. The silver sith'makar coughed, their lungs filling with the scorching air, sapping the energy from them.

Another cough, this time accompanied by a large amount of blood as they struggled to stay on their feet. And they collapsed to the floor.

Merek looks to the blight which is then sent his way when it looks like he's about to cast. The man glances to Seyardu when she is taken down when healing him, "NOO! Wait there, I will get you back up!" The man then will turn all his attention to the demons. There's a rage within while he begins to shimmer with lines across his frame. The magic will then be sent into the hammer which he will lift up. "I call upon the holy power of Eluna!"

The man swings that into the ground even while an arrow manages to miss a little. It will whistle about the shirt which he wears, while a radiance will sweep about the five demons. "I'll kill every one of you. And when I am finished, I will find you and I will kill you again. I will break the chains on all who were taken without permission. Then, I will kill the Duke and your masters. When I'm finished, and when I am satisfied. I will kill the Maugrim, the Caracoroth. I will kill the Taara. the Gunahkar, the Illotha. And when I am finished. I WILL REMAKE YOUR ENTIRE WORLD!"

As the silverscale drops to the ground, her life ebbing, so does one of the Ashen Wings. One of the talkative pair. The Chain Lightning, the Holy Smite, was too much for her. There's a 'aaiiii' of a sigh. Her wings stop moving. She drops straight to the ground and thumps in a position that surely broke something, were she a normal person.

Maybe even devils can get the blues, or greenstick fractures.

She's followed down by her pair, who hovers around her, making gestures and mumbling infernal phrases that are barely audible. Her expressions, her movements, are very close to what they both just did, before blighting everything.

The silent pair that were shooting arrows both drop their bows. The weapons vanish as they fall away from them, disintegrating into ash which blows away. They shift positions, backing up, and seem to be casting.

Daemila and her partner bank away from Seldan, wings flapping hard. As they retreat, they quickly snap off shots at him. And a quick cuss, "Bless you!"He's successfully gotten their attention.

Daemila laughs at Merek. "Thanks for telling us your plans! Taara is all on board with that, except she wants you to kill one less. Let's work together! Now all we want to know is where you stashed that Shard? You all reek of Dead God."

A flaming arrow that strikes the Silverguard solidly.

The silver-haired Merc is having a very confusing day. There's murder in her eyes, who knows what she sees. She rages, she roars, hauling her scythe back to cut him in two.

She's disembowled fire lizards three times he size. She could cut the Man in half, just like the goat-demon, if she was angry enough. If she was lucky enough. She's a deadly threat to him, even if he doesn't realize it.

On her second step closer, into the Magic Circle, she stumbles. There's a clearness to her eyes. Her swing angles into the ground. She couldn't stop the momentum, she could change the target. "Mer! She's got the whammy on me. I'm gonna take your head off. Worse than Lars!"

Her rage bleeds away, she looks tired.

Seldan's first swipe draws blood, mingling with rain-soaked skin, his clothing now plastered to him with a mix of blood, sweat, and rain. And then, she flees, and answers with that flaming arrow. A solid hit on most, but for Seldan, apparently as experienced a warrior and a flier as he is a magician, he twists, and the flaming arrow scores a deep, cauterized gash in the flesh of his side, as he twists _just enough_ to avoid a deadly wound. "Agh. Think you that you are clever?" he snarls, flipping over in the air and gathering himself for just a moment.

And then, he is off, his wings propelling him hard and fast, Reunion first, towards Daemila. This time, Reunion doesn't miss, sinking firmly into the thing's chest. "You and yours cannot escape me, or Her."

With those words, he _yanks_ the blade free, leaving the falling angel to crash to the earth below, and turns to seek his next target.

Which is the invisible Fey-Sildanyari with the halo of gold, hovering off the ground. Hovering and not moving much. Broken noses are very distracting.

The stricken Silverscale continues to bleed to death, lying there.

The Ashen angel thumps on the ground, not as hard as her sister, narrowling missing the Mul'niessa. The partner accompanies her, drifting down and hovering. Wings flapping, bow drawn in a threatening fasion.

Still in a terrified state, Aryia desperately reaches up and grabs the caster by the ankle and yanks them down. She tries to break their knee over her own knee, making a sharp pain jolt up them to try and shock them once more. The mul'neissa starts to lose hold, her instead just hammering into their knee over and over again with haymaker after haymaker.

She's drenched from the rain. Salt touched drops spray from her jaw with each hit.

Merek listens then to the demons. That's what they want him to do, all the same he takes a look to Brae when she comes at him, and the man will take a look to the woman. "I want you to know, this was never on you. They can dispel you, they can save you. I can too, if I don't assist Sey though." The man makes the choice. Then he steps back from the woman, then he takes a look along to Seyardu, while he places a hand upon the woman, the hammer shifted to his side. "Alright."

The healing light will begin a little bit of shimmering, while he brings all the wounds to mend upon the sith'makar. "You should flee." The man remembers what was said in the Halls. Each time, he will choose to save people. This is not a weakness. This is not a zero sum game. And still, he will make that choice. Perhaps the gods will be kind. Even if they are not, he did the right thing. And he will do it again. He is weary. All of his friends are wary of him. And he will always choose the world above all else. To protect people.

Two Fallen Angels have fallen to the ground. It's getting cubic, or quadric. They lie in disorganized lumps, twisted, unnatural. Dead or dying.

Perhaps more unsettling are their partners, exact duplicates that hover nearby. Wings flapping automatically, their faces making expressions of horror, mirth and anger. Unintelligible words mumbled, shouts, like a conversation heard through a wall. A rhythm but no reason.

There's another ugly, familiar stink filling the air around the Fey-Sildanyari, and then another demon appears. Male, with a wriggling bead that seems to be made of worms, eels, or tubes with seratted mouths on the end of them. They wriggle happily, stretching towards Aryia.

Not close enough to threaten. He also wields a glaive, and stands beside the invisible-yet-visible woman, looking ready to interfere if she's attacked again.

At the same time, the quiet archers, the ones that has been all business and no banter, vanish. They re-appears beside their fallen sister, crouch and grab at her.

Braelnoir meanwhile flings her scythe towards the bridge. She'll get it later when she's not likely to murder her brother with it. She steps after him and brings out her crossbow.

His target dispatched, Seldan looks down at the battlefield below - to find chaos being caused by the fey's spells. _Uh-oh_. Swiftly, he looks around for the source - the invisible one! It doesn't take him long to find her - or her new defender. "My lady, _flee!_" he shouts down to Aryia unthinkingly.

The words are forgotten, then, and he turns his attention to the newcomer. "You. In holy Eluna's name, be_gone_!" He changes course, the wind whistling through white feathers now speckled with red. Reunion again leads, and a glee-filled shout of "DIE!" in a crotchety old man's voice is lost to the rush of the wind as he strikes home. Black-green ichor joins water and blood on feathers, skin, and clothing as the runed blade bites deep.

The bearded devil could have fended off the Silverguard. His glaive was ready, it would have been a simple swipe. He didn't, and takes the holy onslaught hard. Yet he's still standing, and growling some infernal words.

The sith'makar was on the ground still, coughing, more weakly by the second. Until the magic passed through, undoing the worst of the withering magics.

Someone nearby said something. Something about fleeing. Something that elicited the opposite reaction from the sith'makar. She coughed up more of the blood she had been choking on, this time to clear her airways. "No. I will not flee again." She says, jumping to her feet. Her mind was clouded, fear creeping at her mind, but anger was the louder voice. She charged one of the angels at the fallen body, blinded to the illusion. But it did not matter, as the momentum of the swing caught one of the true creatures unaware, warhammer impacting their side.

The invisible woman sneezes hard. Aryia is sprayed with droplets of her blood and muscus. This is a momentary interruption for her. She huddles up, cowering away from both Seldan and Aryia. Well, one can imagine, from the way her glowing halo moves. She's casting a spell, fast and anxiously, and just barely pulls it off.

Successful, she steps backwards and pops into the tree.

A glittering, golden outline is marked on the trunk. The sort the guards draw around dead bodies. The leaves briefly sparkle, then don't.

Aryia heard "Flee." But her mind only screamed to fight. It feels like she was surrounded despite the tide of battle turning, and the fallen devil in front of her was being dragged away.

They came back because they didn't finish them. Sobbing, Aryia stutter steps up to the unconscious body and stamps down on their head with her boot once. Twice. Thrice.

She looks like she wants to scream something, but ends up coughing instead as she gives a finishing deck to the skull with the glowing cestus.

Why. Won't. These Things. Die?!

Merek looks then to Seyardu while she will charge into the fallen angel while he takes a moment to look then to Brae, "Alright, well we'll take care of that little domination." He then lifts a hand while he snaps a finger which dispels the magic on the woman. The man does all of that while he takes the time to step back. Then he takes the shirt which he wears to pull it away while the flames upon it begin to shimmer. There are scars all about his frame, and he takes the time to pull away arrows. Not that they were any issue.

The downed darkwing is beaten, stomped, pummelled with a cestus. A literal punching bag. Satisfying to hear the wet thunk. Angering, that she doesn't bruise enough and doesn't die. She's not unaffected. She isn't a marble statue where hitting hurts more than it damages.

Aryia is leaving marks.

Yet she might pull through.

The nearby Ash-wing crouches, grabbing her sister, ignoring the two beside her and concentrating on something. Even the swings taken at her, she silently shifts her weight, leans, takes them so they slide off her armour and gets a good grip on the other devil.

She vanishes, with the unconscious Daemila. Nothing left but the stink.

Their eerie double images continue to linger, murmur, although their pantomime makes no sense. One is grabbing the area around the second's feet, and missing, while the other keeps her bow pointed at where Seldan one.

And the one nearest Merek, keeps laughing at him on a loop and then cowering from something coming out of the sky.

The devil with the glaive takes two swipes at Seldan. Attacks that might have rent a lesser man. One misses and the second is impossible to dodge, although it could have been worse. The serrated blade opens up a wicked wound that bleeds.

And bleeds...

And bleeds.

The devil chuckles and steps back, as if he's playing hide and seek behind the tree.

Kor's Ire, tonight's gone sideways in a damned hurry.

Braelnoir, pale and slightly sallow from the demon's blight, still reeling from the abortive tap into her Draconic blood and dismayed beyond measure that she's been enslaved, even briefly against her brother and her oath, is really, really pissed.

"Brother, arc lightning through the tree into the demon." the Merc advises as she begins to move, setting up angle for a charge. By the time she's made three paces, her pupils are stretched to vertical slits, and metallic talons erupt from her nails, her spiked gauntlet morphing to accomodate the change, while tiny silver specks rapidly blossom into a slightly pebbled, liquid silver veneer over her bare features. <merc-talk>

As she leans into the turn and rushes toward the bearded demon, she invites, "KOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" to watch someone get their ass kicked, now that she's in her right mind.

No sooner does the Bloodletter's name pass silvern lips when with a deep, wet thud, her claws slam into the infernal flesh before her and bite, but not quite so easily as the dragons.

That just means they'll need to chew HARDER.

"FLANK!" she roars. <Draconic>

"Agh!" The serrated blade leaves a shallow gash across the back of Seldan's right forearm that might not look serious, but it's bleeding rather a lot, and it hurts like the seven fires of the Hells. Blood now covers that arm and hand, and he clenches the sword tighter to keep the wetness from destroying his grip.

"Think you that you can flee me, using your mistress as cover?" he snarls as the devil steps behind the tree to get away from him, and closes the distance just as Braelnoir's claws sink deep into its back from behind. "Thank you!" he shouts to the brawler, then unleashes a torrent of divine fury wrapped in flashing steel, magic, wind, and flowing blood upon the hapless devil-thing. His last stroke pins the devil to the sandy beach at his feet, and the thing slumps unmoving to it.

It seemed that the situation was managed, or at least less critical where she was now. So the sith'makar skirted the edge of the fog as she doubled back to check where Braelnoir had come from and Merek still was. She happened upon the single angel that remained. There was a moment of hesitation, but there was no guarantee that any bindings was safe. So it was all she could do to land a blow to the side of her head that shattered bone, offering a swift passing from the world to them.

Aryia staggers about, her fist hurting, eyes stinging from the bright eruptions. She sprints towards Seyardu, slipping some on the wet ground before sliding to a halt next to the silverscale. Almost looking like she was about to cling on to her from how frazzled she looks, but ends up going back to back with Seyardu, Aryia's fists raised and looking around for anything that wants to put up a fight.

Merek looks up to the tree while he watches where the fey woman was. Then he begins walking that way while he takes the time to lift up his golden chains. "You listen to me. I am giving you one choice. You either submit to me, or we kill you. And trust me, you won't escape with teleport. I will find you, no matter where you think that you are safe." The man watches along from the scarf which he wears.

Then he swings the chain to the woman, trying to wrap each about the fey. "We are going to talk, and you are going to listen." The man looks to everyone else and looks like he's noting for them to keep away from it for the moment.

One of the illusionary Ash Wings fades from view, still performing her taunt routine. The others remain, repeating the actions they were last seen doing.

Braelnoir's eyes, gleaming gold, flick to Seldan's hand on the hilt of Reunion before they seek his, and she gives a nod with her wolfiest grin. Her claws curl with forceful >thunks!< into the slumped foe's traps to either side of the felled demon's current support; the Silverguard's selfsame blade.

Her boot chuffs into the sand and with a feral snarl, she -yanks- the demon back against the edge of the ageless heirloom blade until the Barbazu is slammed to lay in a cruelly lopsided posture; a jagged X with arms sticking out of either of two branches.

There's a thundering of boots on the bridge. The garrison has turned out. The troops have arrived. Mostly average patrollers, not too tough on their own, but well led and a lot of them. A few grizzled veterans are visible amongst them, as well as a couple who seem capable of flinging magic.

They line up along the edge of the bridge, bows, crossbows and a few firearms with the officers. It's an encouraging and comforting sight.

The possibility that they could all be as easily ensorcelled as Braelnoir was, or even more easily, less comforting.

In addition to the soldiers of Alexandria, several holy warriors teleport in. A pair of Serriel's lancers, one of them vaguely familiar to Aryia, and a trio of Eluna's, know to Seldan and Merek. Solid, reliable, capable and having some punch, though not as much as the Seer or the Silverguard.

They arrive quickened and lay down some spells, protective and dismissive, reacting to how things were ten seconds ago.

A very long, ten seconds ago.

The bearded demon falls with a meaty thump, and this his body dissipates.

As a Silverguard, Seldan knows the Temples were on alert and scrying and have magical communication and a 'go team' on standby. They likely saw something was going on, focused in, saw what. Picked the 'loadout' that would work best with the problem, hasted and put some blessings on them, then teleported. Possibly there was coordination between the temples too.

As a silver-haird merccenary, Braelnoir is ABSOLUTELY SURE this happened, because after Cryo's complaining that there were never Paladins around, she went to ask them 'what's up, how do you do things?'. She also knows, as a merc, that reguar soldiers get the shaft as well as the stick. They must have had a lookout on top of the garrison, saw the flames, went "SHIT! Send Everybody and someone who knows how to figure things out when they get there."

And the North Tower garrison. They will probably show up in another minute or two when they finish running over through the streets.

Seldan returns that nod to Braelnoir, and places both hands on the hilt and pommel of the blade, pinning it firmly for her while she does her gruesome work. Then, the devil fades from view, and he virtually sags with relief, yanking the bloodstained blade firmly from the ground with a flash of a feral grin at Brael. "Well done."

When the cavalry shows up, he relaxes further and settles then to the ground, letting soaked feathers fade back into his back, and steps back to let Merek do his thing. The two paladins close to him can see the still-bleeding wound across his forearm, and the cauterized deep gash in his side. Fortunately, neither appear serious, although he is soaked head to foot now, in rain and in blood, his clothing clinging to him and now torn and stained as well. "Agh," he lets out a hiss as he moves wrong, and stabs Reunion back into the ground to place both hands across his shoulders and murmur a prayer to Eluna that will be familiar to those just teleported in. Silver light forms under his hands, and the deep gash in his side closes without trace, to leave only ragged and stained shirt and robe behind. The slice left by the serrated blade, though, stops bleeding, and partly closes to a thin, angry red line.

Braelnoir's eyes return to normal as the silver human sags a little, talons returning to their beds beneath her nails. She takes in a gulp of air, and pants out a, "Thanks, luv... just cleaned up's all. Th'ell ya hit'm...?"

The troping of boots, quite familiar, breaks her statement off at that point and she straightens, closing her hand around the odd blade at her waist.

Scanning the troops, eying positions and visible weapons, she calls, "Backup's here! Specialists, looks like!"

"Probably a crew tapped from the North Garrison, they probly had ta get spelled fer the sorta noise we's makin'."

Seyardu pulled her weapon back up and slightly out from the skull it was stuck in. the weapon was shook off in the brief moment before they were surrounded on all sides. She looked back to where Merek and the others were, and back to the group quickly, raising an arm and trying to get their attention. Were they friendly? She is relatively certain that they are, despite the nagging doubt.

"Hail-"

The sound was garbled, and the sith'makar coughed again, spitting out some of the blood that still remained. "Hail, but be wary. One of the creatures here is capable of magics that addle and control the mind. I know not if it is safe." she called out as loudly as she could.

Just as Seyardu speaks, a shimmer begins in the tree that the group has surrounded. Seldan had been watching the tree for just such a thing, and the sigils he draws quickly are strange and outmoded, but he swiftly slashes through them, and a blackness hangs in the air for a split second. An agonizing second, before both they and the shimmering of the tree vanish.

Instead, the fey woman emerges from the tree - right into Merek's chains of light.

The silverscale's warning is heard by the soldiers. They're expecting a fight, they're not sure what sort. The younger and more inexperienced ones are hot and ready to go. Older, less bolder soldiers are willing to hesitate, examine the situation. Their weapons are at the ready, but they wait on their commander.

A commander who is decent, but confused, and trying to get on top of the situation. It seems like the battle is over. He's not about to obey a civilian, turn around and march his troops off. He calls back, "Where's the threat? Who's in charge?" He warns his men, "Watch for someone acting squirrely, there's mind control. Hold your fire."

Braelnoir looks to the gathered souls bound in battle against the demons, eying Seldan curiously, Merek and the ladies more... guiltily a moment, calls, "Everyone alright?"

Then.... with some pretty lights and magic the Korite can practicly taste, suddenly their foe is wrung out of her hidey hole into Merek's trap. There's barely a chance to think, when the witch starts something shadey, and her spiked gauntlet whistles past the fey's head to no avail.

Seldan's vigilance has not ended, his blood hot now. She tries to cast again, and he strikes her across the face with the flat of the blade in his hand, a turn of the blade meant to distract, not to harm. "Enough. Who are you, and why are you here? Why do you aid the minions of the Hells?"

Seyardu's attention turns to something happening by a tree, and a nondescript form being dragged out of it, and the sudden actions of it.

"They seek to cast!" She yelled back to those gathered, in as quick a warning she could manage.

That shimmering of the golden outline on the tree, that was her escape attempt.

Things did not go according to plan. She unexpectedly finds herself forced out of her tree, into Chains of Light. Chains that hold her too loosely, and frustratingly she's still invisible yet visible.

Backup plan time. She quickly takes stock of the situation. It's unclear how much she heard while inside the tree. It's a little like a sound in the forest. She starts to gather her power and work a spell.

Seldan's blade smacks her across the face. Her nose is already broken, it's not as if it can hurt more. Braelnoir's claws slide off her Mage Armour. Gritting her teeth with an angry expression that can't be seen, she flings her spell.

At the soldiers.

"I'm not answering anything. I'm not surrendering to Merek and I'm not letting you kill me either." There's a grim sound in her voice as she shouts at the troops. "Shoot me! Then Shoot everyone else!"

To shoot and who to shoot at were exactly the orders they were waiting on. It's a bit unusual for the enemy to identify themselves, but the soldiers aren't going to think that hard about it.

They fire.

Arrows arch through the sky and come down like black rain, sticking in the ground around her.

Bolts fire more linearly, but still have a parabolic trajectory.

Bullets, fire the most directly. There's the fewest of these.

Some hit. Some miss. More miss, but enough shots come from the large group of soldiers her body is riddled, pierced and torn. She drops, mistress of her own destiny to the end.

GAME: Merek casts Wall of Force. Caster Level: 13 DC: 20

Merek looks to the fey while she will begin being riddled by all of the projectile weapons. The man takes a look along the place, covered in a little bit of the woman's blood while he will take a moment to watch the troops, "Ya, that was the... Right person," the man sighs. Then he will lift up a hand to bring about a Wall of Force. "You will understand, if I don't trust if any of you were controlled by mind!" He doesn't look like he's worried about arrows from the troops. The man lifts the fey woman up, "You all get away. I'll explain to the troops, Seldan. Can you talk to the faithful? I need to use magic to trace the body back to the people that the fey was taking orders from, if that's alright. Then I'll bring it to the Temple of Vardama."

Aryia steps behind the reinforcements, her breath staggered and stuttering. She wipes at her eyes, shoudlers shaking. Trembling. A hand clutches at the side of her head with her hair stuck to her face. She tenses, looking up at the bridge as they start to shoot. But none of them are directed towards them.

The thudding of bolt, arrow and bullet drill into the broken nose elf. Matching with the rolling of thunder overhead.

The pugilist falls to a sit, hugs her legs, and buries her face into her knees.

The line grew blurry.

Stjepan lifts his head -- the sound of volleyed arrows rouses him from his swoon -- and rolls over from where he landed from his jump. A rock must have caught his chin from the welt on it. He shakes his head to clear it. "The devils -- defeated?"

Seyardu was still turned to the group on the bridge, and the order made her raise her shield wher she stood, in case any of the missiles came their way, in front of the mul behind her. But they never came, and the sith'makar exhales, shaking her head.

"I will be following up with the temple of Vardama, as I certainly do not have it in me to stop you now."

Then, as the witch's command takes hold and the arrows come arcing in like the archers' fingers were tied to her own nerves. Brae shouts, "COVER!" as it starts to rain steel and she twists, lunging to try and tackle her brother away from the initial target of the volley as such things can only be so accurate, but in fatigued state, her rush is only so effective.

Yet still enough to shield him.

"The guards are compelled! Protect their minds!" A silverguard shouts. Perhaps Seldan. Someone raises the warning. The Silverguards and the Lancers refocus, magic circles and enchantment breaks are laid down.

No one makes any attempt to stop Merek leaving with the Fey-Sildanyari's body. A Lancer kneels by Aryia, asking what will help, reassuring her the worst is over. It's obvious the Mul'niessa isn't ok. A Silverguard checks on Seyardu, then Braelnoir and Stjepan. She'll be there for them if they need to talk.

The other two Ash Wings don't re-appear.

And the body of the third, as well as the little goat demon, remain.
