Boiling Crabs
Boiling Crabs
Erendriel confirms she's Plague-free, to the amusement of Skribbles and the satisfaction of Echo
Erendriel is getting nervous as she approaches the Temple of Eluna. Holding her breath in fact as she approaches. Walking up to the pool in the center, she squats down in front of it, points her finger out, and ... well... sends a small zap of fire right at the water, causing a brief hiss. With a deep breath, she rises up, and starts walking toward one of the priests.
Skribbles has come along with Erendriel, watching the small the ceremony before watching her walk towards the priests. She isn't sure what's going on, but she's just hoping Reos doesn't zap her for being in another temple that it isn't his.
Erendriel is being glared at by the priest, who starts to approach her, looking ready to scold, albeit quietly. But the look of concern on Erendriel's face make take the priest aback a bit. She fixes the brand new circlet on her head, and takes a heavy breath. "I need some help." The priests pauses, folding hands together. "What do you need?" he asks, eyeing that shiny circlet. She breathes in again. "I had the plague, but I think it's gone, and I need to know for sure... before I stop taking the medicine."
That gets the priest hopping. He gestures to a pair of guards, and they start clearing space out from around Erendriel, walking her to an empty corner away from the pool. "We will check you... let me get the healer." the priest explains, scurrying off, and bringing back an older woman, who doesn't hesitate, and walks through the guards, and right up to Erendriel, cupping her face, looking down to her.
Skribbles watches the priests clear the area and her brows go up almost immediately. Okay, some weird stuff is going to go on here, and she is assuredly ushered out of the way as well. She nips at a Priest that might get too close, but she's a good girl in any other way.
Erendriel watches as this older Priest of Eluna shows no fear whatsoever about the Plague, or anything else. Touching Erendriel's face, the priest speaks in a soft voice. "I will ask Eluna if you have that foul presence inside you, child." Figurative child, or just a misunderstanding of the height difference, nobody will know. "Hold still, and let Eluna use me to aid you." Erendriel closes her eyes, and holds her breath again, hands gripping her backpack straps, tightly.
A guard does look intently at Skribbles...
Skribbles smiles widely, showing off her Gobber fangs before turning back to watch the ceremony, curious as to whether or not Erendriel still has crabs. It's crabs we're here about right? No? Plague?"
The guard steps up to Skribbles, and gestures. "That one has the plague. Stay back." Well, he's completely wrong on that, but he's just doing his job.
Erendriel shuts her eyes tight, as the priest casts her spell. She then seps back, and smiles. "Open your eyes, child. Are you sure you had the dark Plague spreading? Because you have no such presence in you now. None at all." Erendriel does open her eyes, and does a little jump in excitement, accidentlaly shooting a ray of fire right at her boot, darkening a spot on the top. "I definitely was! Ohhhh..."
Echo has arrived.
Skribbles eyes go wide and points at the guard, "She's trying to...oh..it's an accident. Never mind." She tilts her head a little to the left as Erendriel is announce plague free and she claps her hands loudly, cheering. "Woo! Abstinence forever!"
Whirlpoopin' has arrived.
Echo had been just coming back from helping another person, a scroll in hand that he hands off to someone else as he looks around, then tilts his head as he sees someone at least passingly familiar. Making his way over, Echo raises his voice, "Greetings, Erendriel. What brings you to the Temple of Eluna?"
Skribbles says, "She's getting her crabs cured." She nods once to the guard, as though she were completely right even though she has heard, explicitly, the fact that she's over the Plague.
Erendriel hears someone say something about abstinence, and looks over RATHER confused. At that moment, the priest steps up to Erendriel, and rests a hand on top of her head. "But listen to me. You need to stop boiling the water in Eluna's pool, and shooting your fire everywhere else here, as well. Now go."
Erendriel looks up at the Priest, and gives a non-committal nod, but isn't going to make any verbal promises she can't quite keep, not to a priest who just gave her very good news! Approaching Skribbles, looking at her with yet more perplexed curiosity, the guards scatter on orders of the priest, and let her walk by. "Hi," she says both to Skribbles and to Echo. "I was getting checked... and I really am cured of the plague. Totally."
That has Echo raising an eye ridge at Erendriel. "I did not know you had the plague. How were yo cured of it?" He looks down at Skribbles, then gives a small bow towards her, "It is an honor to see one of the Forge of Reos among us Seers. Did you come for something of importance?"
Skribbles shakes her head, smiling again. "No, I came to see whether Erendriel was going to burn the temple down accidentally because she was so excited." She points at Erendriel and laughs, "You almost did it...almost..."
Erendriel looks at her hand, finger cocked and ready to shoot more fire, but she just giggles. Too happy to take any offense at the accusation. "I Did have the plague. It was awful. I had to spend all my time, pretty much, in the arcanist dungeon. Which is AWFUL. You can't do any magic at ALL. And I was totally dying. There was medicine, which made it less scary but..."
She inhales deeply. "I.. don't remember how I got cured. People say that because I have thi son me.." She lifts her arm, pulls up her sleeve, and shows a scar in the shape of a snowflake. "That it means the vampire kidnapped me, took me to a tower, and then... they did an experiment on me to cure me. But I don't remember anything that happened most of that day."
That has Echo looking at Erendriel carefully, then he moves to look at the snowflake shaped mark and actually goes so far as to cast a bit to see if he can tell anything about it.

Skribbles looks at the mark and says, "Wow, it's beautiful." Her Goblin curiousity and lack of decorum causes her to grab Erendriel's hand so she can get a better look at it. "So, a vampire laid this on you?"
Erendriel is poked at and prodded more AFTER the check, than DURING it, which surprises her. But again, she's floating on great feelings right now. Feelings of not dying, and not having to be in the dungeon anymore. Though it's hard to tell which of the two is foremost in her emotions. So her arm is yanked and the snowflake scarring is apparent to Skribbles. "IT's a snowflake. It's icy. TEchnically I can shoot ice... but why? It's ice?"
Skribbles shrugs her shoulders and says, "Maybe you want to cool down your drink?" She releases Erendriel's hand, not even apologizing because...hey...why?
Echo's eyes change to a brief yellow hue before changing back. His eyes dim for a second then brighten. "... that will teach me to use that on a sorceress." He shakes his head, "As far as I can tell, there is nothing, although your own magics may be hiding them better. But if the vampire has a cure... why not spread it around?"
Erendriel looks at Skribbles. Her arm freed, she cocks her finger, and fires a way of frost, hitting one of the vines outside that the priests hate. She then makes a brief grimace. "Ice. I have used it to cool drinks, now that I Think about it... but... yuck." Then to Echo. "They thought, um, the people in the market today, they thought that the Vampire's boss... wanted to cure someone. And is doing experiments on us. And I guess it worked on me."
Skribbles looks at Erendriel once again, and asks, "Are you sure he didn't change you into one and that's why you're cured?" She then puts her hands up to her neck and winces, "You're not gonna drink me, are you?"
That has Echo shaking his head, "I met the vampire before. I do not know what his goal is, but he kidnapped one of the Seers. I was... not skilled enough to do much injury to him." He looks to Skribbles, then shakes his head. "Be at ease. I do not think a vampire would willingly walk into a temple as she did. Especially one of the Moon Goddess's."
Erendriel snickers, but her face is a little nervous. "I didn't... think about that." Glancing between the two, then finally to Echo. "Can you... can you CHECK?"
Skribbles raises a finger and says, "I have a perfect way to check." She nods solemnly and says, "We put a stake through her heart and take it out. If she gets up, she's a vampire."
Echo shrugs, "I can..." He sighs, then looks at Skribbles. "No." He looks to Erendriel, then reaches to touch the holy symbol of Eluna that he wears around his neck before reaching out to touch Erendriel herself. The positive, holy energy looking visible as a soft silver glow that has even changed the crystals marking Echo's arm to a silver on that side.
Erendriel holds up her hands and waves off Skribbles. "I don't want to know THAT badly..." But the Echo's attention as her holding her breath. She's touched and... it's kind of nice, healing glow. "Ahh...." she sighs.
Echo watches carefully to make sure it's a sound of relief rather than any sort of pain, then the glow fades as he moves his hand away. "That was the best way to check. The undead can not stand those that can channel the energies of the divine in a positive way."
Skribbles mumbles to herself, "Oh sure, if you want to go that route..." She looks at the magic and nods her head, "So it was something else. Well, beggars can't be choosers, I suppose. Congratulations on the cure."
Erendriel bites her lip and looks to each of them. "Thank you so much. And I think now I'm going to get the best real sleep I've had since.. I got the plague I guess..."
Skribbles chuckles and nods, "I bet. You're gonna sleep like the dead." She laughs and points, "Because you're undead...sort of a joke.." She looks at the two and says, "That was funny, I don't care what you say."
Echo looks at Skribbles, then at Erendriel. "If you wish, I believe there are some safe rooms in the Temple that you may be able to use. I would offer my own quarters, but I do not tend to sleep on a comfortable surface usually."
Erendriel goes wide-eyed. "That would... save me a walk. Thank you!" She then sets off to find the safe rooms...
Skribbles grins to Echo.
