Disturbing the Peace
Before you stands an elderly goblin woman. She's got gray and white hair piled up on top of her head, and steely gray-blue eyes that age hasn't dulled a whit. She's got a small symbol to Daeus hanging from a chain around her neck, blue peacock feather earrings, and a blue dress all of which quite complement the color of her greenish skintone. She's a little rotund and very short, but she stands with a presence that makes her seem quite a lot taller.
"It's my neighbor you see. They're in and out all hours of the evening. Men by the dozens! Making loud noises all hours. Someone's got to do something about it by Daeus! So I'm hiring you all to see what's up and put a stop to it." You're in the housing district, a small community of houses where those that aren't quite poor but aren't quite rich live, and it's quite quiet at the moment. But she's very insistent that you go to her neighbor's house and 'check things out'.
"..okay! I will take a look at it but if they are doing nothing wrong, I will not punch them very hard. However, if they ARE doing something wrong, I will in fact punch them very hard." The Arvek gives her a big smile, and well, Boshter’s on his way there and then he'll get on his way over. He's just gonna walk out, walk over, and knock on the door immediately if no one stops him.
Standing by with her Earthbreaker resting buttfirst against the street, hands stacked upon the bead and feather adorned head, Toha considers the matronly little goblin with a curious tilt of her head. This sounds more like a Guardsman problem, unless that's already been tried. Hmm. She turns her gaze to her primary coexistence engine and shrugs, spending a few moments feeding the haft of the massive hammer through brazen rings mounted to the scabbard of her greatsword. She glances quickly as the Arvek sounds off, then bows her head to their client before trotting off after him.
Jeirath regards the elderly goblin woman calmly for a moment. His left arms is tucked beneath his back and his right hand rests on the pommel of his rapier in a rather regal posture. He considers her words for a moment, wondering why she doesn't just ask the local authorities to look into this... but Jeirath wasn't one to turn down a bit of easy money, provided it wasn't for shady business. He watches his Arvek companion head out the door, and he follows suit.
"This one wonders how many bad stories begin with carelessly knocking on doors..”
A woman opens the door, a lovely blonde human woman with delicate features. "Come right in, come right in." She welcomes you into the house and you immediately realize that there's something... not quite right about this picture.
Firstly there's the fact that the living room to your right has been turned into a bar where there are any number of people drinking - quietly at the moment. To the right the den has been turned into a smoking lounge where various individuals are resting comfortably. Before you in the hallway is a little podium where the woman that opened the door walks. There's a little book on the stand and she rests a hand on it and offers you a broader grin that makes you realize that she's been smiling this whole time politely but it's possible for her to turn it up a notch. "Do you have an appointment?”
The half-sil swordman looks around quietly as he walks in at the woman's invitation. He follows after her while keeping his head on a swivel, looking this way and that. His hand continues to rest gently on his rapier's handle in a rather elegant, unprovoking way.
"A neighbor of your's has asked us to look into thing. Something about a noise complaint. Your neighbor tells this one that it is difficult to sleep at night, and there is too much noise coming from this house." He pauses. "Why is this?"
Toha isn't city-girl enough to really know what she was expecting on this side of the door. The last time she was asked to look into something around here, there was a demon summoning. It got weird. This doesn't seem particularly 'wicked' or 'malevolent' at present, and, it -is- pretty quiet, but, "This is the most orderly bar I've ever been in.... it's... not right, is it? I mean, shouldn't it be a little... saucier?"
"There are indeed a great many horror stories about doors! Doors that lead to horrible abominations beyond belief and to fights and to planes of demons and to demonic succubi lairs and... apparently to taverns?" Blink blink. Drinking people.
"HELLO! I AM BOSHTER OF BLAR! BOSHTER OF BLAR NEEDS NO APPOINTMENT!" A beaming smile and he just... goes inside.
"No appointment? That's alright sirs, madame; feel free to peruse the bar, and I'll pencil your group in. There /is/ a wait however." The woman behind the podium says all this with the same smile on her face. She opens the little book and pencils in something that looks like 'Boshter' onto it. If one's paying attention to her writing that is. Then she snaps the little book closed. As an aside she smiles to Jeirath. "We do try to keep it quiet but some people are so excited that they're a bit loud. Like your friend there." She doesn't seem bothered by Boshter's overly-noisy entrance however.
Toha nods with a thoughtful, "Thank you, miss." glad she doesn't look as puzzled as she feels. To Boshter she says, "Some doors lead to gas traps and assassins, but this one's preferable." She looks to her other companion and shrugs, "So... this is the waiting area, but not the main show, then?" that, back to the hostess.
"...well, okay!" Boshter beams, then he does, in fact, go to have a seat. He's gone to the bar, then, yes. "Hello!" he says, brightly, to them.
Boshter is warmly welcomed at the bar while Toha recieves an odd look from the greeter. "Of course! The main show is upstairs with Sindri." She giggles and her gaze takes on a stary-eyed expression that lingers even when she returns her attention to Toha. "I'd say we get one person or group in every hour or so. Go on now, I'll make sure that you get called when it's your turn! Have a drink or two."
It's actually a long wait. About an hour before Boshter's name is called and you /do/ hear a few loud odd noises that are entirely inexplicable while you're waiting. Loud drunks at the bar of course, but it's the noises from upstairs that draw speculation. Loud thumps, the occasional raised voice that isn't quite loud enough to hear the words. Other noises that defy explanation.
Then at last Boshter's name is called and you yourselves are led upstairs to a hallway of rooms to either side with one at the end of the hall. You're led past the bank of rooms and to the one at the end of the hall. The opened door reveals...
The most beautiful individual you have ever seen in your life. Their hair is caught between long and short, just enough to sometimes catch into their... are those purple eyes? Eyes that catch and hold, peer into your soul. They're neither too tall, nor too short, but rather somehow perfect. They smile at the sight of you and impossibly it makes them more lovely. "Hello." The door closes behind you but you hardly notice in the face of the perfect voice to match that perfect face.
"...huh," says Boshter after a long moment of staring. "What is this, exactly?" he asks after a moment. "Is this a cat house? If it is a cat house, I will be very put out!"
It's clear he has no idea what a cat house is.
Toha would probably have caught her breath... if that was a thing she did. She cants her head a bit one way, then the other at sight of, "...Sindri?" she wonders almost dreamily.
"Yes, I am Sindri, and this is not a cat house, this is a /temple/." Sindri, and it's nice to have a name to go with the person standing before you. "But surely you knew that. I am a scion, the servant of the higher powers here to aid you." Modestly Sindri's eyes fall so that they're looking at you from beneath their lashes.
"...this is a temple?! But it is not in the temple place! Also, it just looked like a house." Boshter blinks his eyes at her. A glance back at Toha. Then at Sindri.
"...a temple.. to... who?"
Toha shrugs, "I'm not from around here, ma'am." she concedes gingerly. She isn't sure yet of the credentials, but feels it best to make nice-nice while they haven't been formally shot down. Besides, this could be her house for all the construct knows. She glances at her colleague and wonders, "Do all the temples -have- t'be there, though?" With the temple to who question she falls silent. That -is- kind of important. Survey says!
Having put her wagon into storage, Alaryn showed up a few minutes later than everyone else. After all, she had to go park and secure all her stuff. But she rushed on over when she could and arrived -just- in time to hear the statement about it being a temple and the question about who's temple it was. "Hey folks." she remarks as she moves closer, hands clasped behind her back to make sure that she does -NOT- have one near her holstered pistol.
"It is a temple to our great lord Eclavdran." Sindri smiles and again you're struck by how much that smile lights up their face. How much more painfully beautiful it makes them. Their words are alluring too, holding a certain gravatise that makes you want to listen to them. "It's clear that you're new; referred by one of our other members so I'll explain. I, acting as a scion can take your desires to Eclavdran directly and see that they're met as soon as is possible. That's my sole purpose in life; to make you happy."

"I am fairly familiar with all the names of the Gods and I do not remember an 'Eclavdran.' And hi!" Boshter says to Alaryn with a big smile.
Quiet from the golem for some time, though, with the minute movements of her head, she's probably putting some kind of cohesive thought into the situation. Finally, her chin lifts and she levels her eyeslit on the scion's face, "Is that what you've chosen to do, miss Sindri? Does it make -you- happy?" She twists some as Alaryn comes in and, "Hey!"
"Happy?" asks Alaryn as she approaches, bouncing on the balls of her feet. "Who?" she asks as she turns her head to look at the host. "What god or goddess or whatever? I should mention, I'm not really concerned with religion and such."
"It makes me very happy! To be helpful, and to make so many others happy in turn. How could I not be happy?”
Sindri is entirely sincere, eyes bright and smiling. Their eyes light upon Alayrn. "You say you don't care about the gods, and I can understand that. So often they ignore those who need them most, but not Eclavdran. Surely you have /something/ that you want, let me help you achieve it!"
"Mn. Generally, people who put themselves alongside the gods to deliver 'things' tend to be bad guys! Is this Eclavdran also a bad guy? I SHALL FIND OUT."
Boshter is nodding, firmly, glancing over at Alaryn and Toha.
The golem goes silent once more, considering something as Alaryn and Sindri establish their relative stances on the Gods. As Boshter speaks, her attention turns his way, though her head doesn't move, just her point of focus. Creepystare activated, she asides, "What if someone doesn't know what they want?"
"What if what I want is to earn my own way? To become what I will become by my own hands and my own merits?" asks Alaryn. She lifts a brow and adds, "It's not that I don't believe in the gods, or hate them. I just prefer to have my own accomplishments be my own, not due to some outside influence." She looks to the others and adds, "Now.. why are we discussing this? I thought this place was being too noisy?"
"A bad guy?" Suddenly Sindri looks lost, upset even. "Would a bad guy offer to help so many people? Perhaps you do not want anything, but if you do... I hope that you'll let me help you. Even if it's something small, or something you think could never happen, if you tell me perhaps it can in fact be done!"
"...yes? Sometimes they do nice things to do bad things later!" Boshter nods towards Sindri, though the sad look on her face appears to be breaking his heart. "Oh no! I have made you sad! Do you want a hug? I can give you a hug."
GAME: Toha rolls sense motive-4: (1)+-3+-4: -6 (EPIC FAIL)
Toha rubs the back of her neck at Alaryn's words, "I was... just curious." she replies, somewhat abashed. Her focus returns to Sindri in time for the heartstrings and the construct straightens... but Boshter is higher on initiative in that regard and so she allows the Arvek to console the nice scion. Mostly, her hand does come about halfway up to some purpose or other, but she's given pause.
Smiling to Toha, Alaryn chuckles, "Relax my friend. I -truly- believe in my friends. You are among their number." But then she looks back to the others and tilts her head, "So ... noise complaint. Remember everyone?"
Sindri seems heartened by Boshter's offer, and also by Toha's evident efforts in a similar manner. "You are all too kind. If what you require is that we are quieter here in the future, I believe that can be accommodated." Sindri offers a smile and their hand to Alaryn. "Yes?"
Nodding, Alaryn shrugs, "That's all I came here for. Because people living nearby complained about the noise. Keep it down and there's literally no problem. You are free to do whatever you want, worship whomever you wish... just not in a way that troubles others." That said, she looks to the others with lifted brows, asking.. is that correct?
Toha does the neck thing again with Sindri's words and the bows her head a moment, "Y-yeah... just, th'neighbors like't quiet." she says softly, as the scion's been so understanding, "Thank you, Miss Sindri, ah... have a good evening."
"It's definitely a bit weird. I need to find out more about who this 'Eclavdran' is! For all we know he is a silly wizard or djinn or something!" He nods his head up and down, "And wishes always come with a price in the stories. Like being turned into a fish! Because that's where the saying if wishes were fishes comes from. Right?"
"I assure you that he is none of those things. Perhaps wishes come at a price, but do dreams?" Sindri smiles a soft smile and offers their hand to both Toha and Boshter. "I promise that we will be more quiet, and if you wish to learn more about Eclavdran; return and I will speak to you of him."
"Is he a wizard?" asks Boshter, "I am very punchy with wizards. They may not like that." He looks thoughtful. A glance at Toha. A nod, solemn.
The talk of dreams brings the construct's chin down. She isn't particularly fond of her 'dreams' most of the time. Her hand lifts again, this time in valediction, "Fair'nough, miss Sindri. G'night." her tone more thoughtful, but not quite morose, and with that, Toha starts to walk down the stairs, she absently begins a soft, sober melody, "Yooway-oh..."
