Paladin Fanlizards and Delicious-Smelling Artificers
<OOC> Svarshan says, "There is a Solar, here! :D"
==========================> IC: Rumors and Gossip <=========================== Message: 6/4 Posted Author A Mighty Angel Tue Feb 26 Whirlpool ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Soooo... It's not so much a rumor, but a mighty angel has taken up residence at the Temple of Daeus in Alexandria. Seriously, it's apparently there to stand guard over the Book of the Light. For those who know about Celestials, this being is clearly described as a Solar. For the rest of you, it's just a terrifyingly tall being with three wings. And it's standing in the Cathedral. Yikes. Rumors are it exorcised a possessed individual on the spot. Needless to say, this is the kind of thing that's gonna bring pilgrims. ==============================================================================
So. There is a line. Well, sort of a line. There is a line of acolytes winding out the door of the temple. There are also paladins milling about. Some of them stand in clumps, talking excidedly in whispers. One of them is a large lizard. He has a book underneath an arm, and is also, joining in the excitement.
"I hear they killed a thousand demons!"
"It's a gods-da--excuse me. It's a solar! Of course it killed a thousand. Probably ten thousand!"
"Perhaps I can get it to sign my book. Hssss." And that. That. Some of the others there in shining armor turn to look at the Am'sheri. Stare at him, and kind of inch away before continuing their conversation.
Stirling doesn't take part in the gossip, truth be told Stirling is not all that thrilled with this particular Solar. What he is interested in though is one of the foremost demon experts in Alexandria. "Wheres the Sunblade, Svarshan?" he asks several people as he moves through the temple. The fact that his right arm below the elbow has been replaced by a hastily built and rudimentary wood and leather prosthetic doesn't seem to slow him down. "Damnit Svarshan, where are you at?" he says just a bit too loudly.
Others are too glad to clear the way. When Stirling does find him, well. He might slip on the drool. The reptilian looks distracted, with shining eyes. And, when the artificer comes up, he turns those beaming, shining rays towards him.
Golden, shining light. Paladenic light of purest soul-joy.
"Pease to you. This is esciting," the Am'sheri says, on automatic. His eyes are shining, and then--then--he has to do a doubletake at the sight of the artificer. At the sight of the...
Stirling shakes his head "Here you are, I need moment of your time if you can spare one." he says matter of fact. As he says it he fishes a cigar out of his pocket and very clumsily lights a match with his left hand, clearly something he is unused to doing. "I have some proper revenge that needs to be taken and I can use your help."
Svarshan goes still, his head tilting to the side. Stares, for some time--except the muzzle twitches. His muzzle twitches, performing a long, slow inhale. A series of shorter ones.
And that is how Stirling ends up with a lizardmuzzle jammed next to the stump-and-contraption, with a happymumble, "Smells like demon. Smells like--"
Deeper inhale. A reproachful look as the cigar is lit. "Do you want this healed?" Serious question. Push-exhale. Cigarsmoke. "Or do we make sscar? You need Cleansse. Either way. What was thiss?"
Really wanting to know. Everything. And a reproachful look. So reproachful look. Let him smell the delicious thing! It's the sort of focus that Stirling might expect from a gnome and her contraption--only this one's well, been tempered over a few battles, years. And yet. And yet...
Give.
Stirling takes a deep breath and exhales a lungful of smoke, letting the cigar calm him a little. "No healing, I am having a replacement made, would do it myself but it takes 2 hands. Stronger and more durable than the original." he continues trying to ignore Svarshan's look, as you do with gnomes. But there is no missing the resentment in his voice, perhaps at not crafting the arm himself.
"My arm was taken by some demon thing though and it got away. That was before mixing it up with your Solar friend and all that business." he says with a dismisive wave of the hand. "I need some revenge, its still out there."
A look at Stirling. Narrow-eyed. A look towards the Solar.
A...he's going to lose his place in line.
He really wants that book signed. Solars are demigods, practically. The right hand of a deity or a cause. They...oh god. Look at all of the shining eyes.
THE LINE GOES OUT THE DOOR.
"Let us Cleanse it," he says, at length. "This one will take you to a plasse--you may be leaking demoncursse. ...and we will sshare words. Sshare words while this is removed so that the demon. Cannot use it against you."
Stirling rolls his one eye. "No cleansing needed on my part, no taking my anywhere, none of that balony, I'm fine. Lets go see your Solar friend though." he says gesturing forward. "Since your so keen, he is mean in a fight and theres no doubt about that." he comments as he follows.
Another narrow-eyed look. This one has a different gauge to it--it sharpens before fading away to the earlier warm cheer. "Hss, we will go. One has a book. For him to sign. A thousand and one. Recipes for. Demons," he says, with a slightly ...different edge to the cheer. Like turning a corner. Only, slightly. Finding prey. A thousand and one recipes.
Stirling looks around at all the pilgrims, worshipers. "You know what, come find me when your done. We can talk about it, I need to see how my arm is coming along. Going to be adamantine you know." he says with a firm nod. "Don't get too star struck." Stirling says walking away.
Another look, a gauging one.
"There are demonmarks left," the reptilian says at length. Different tone. A pay-attention-tone, and not one said loudly. Oh, no. Not here. He shifts his look to the crowds around them, and exhales.
Quiet.
"One will find. One will find you, Sstirling."

<OOC> Svarshan is here for an hour, then gone for an hour, then back. :D
<OOC> Durrankar says, "ah okie"
<OOC> Svarshan <3
<OOC> Durrankar is going to assume you're NOT here yet.
<OOC> Svarshan was here wif Stirling. Ah...
<OOC> Svarshan says, "We can back up, tho?"
<OOC> Durrankar nodnods.
<OOC> Svarshan says, "All I've had him do is stare forlornly at the VERY LONG LINE. XD"
<OOC> Durrankar says, "hehe. Well, Durrankar will...kind of....nudge their way past."
<OOC> Durrankar says, "We'll assume the line is there."
Durrankar looks a little haggard...even after a night's rest. But he walks up to the Temple of Daeus and.....stares at the line. "Are you serious?" He says as he starts to weave his way through the line......and finds Svarshan. "Brightscale? What're you doing in the line?"
A look towards THE LINE.
The long line, of hopeful looks, of joyful acolytes. Of paladins. Or priests. Of the faithful. Of eyes, shimmering with joy. Of...
"One is getting a book signed," the reptilian replies, happily. So happily. He looks towards Durrankar, and beams.
"Also. Sstirling smells delicious."
Uh... Oh.
"Be glad Stirling made it back at all." Durrankar says as he rubs his left eye....where there is a dull shape around it, like a scar on his scales. "He's missing one of his Artifice arms." He then tilts his head. "A book signed? By...who?"
It is a book of. Ressipes," the reptilian replies, happily. Said book is tucked underneath his arm--a trim volume. Along the spine, it reads, 1001 Ways to Cook Pesky Demons. And well, Svarshan looks so happy. There are beams and rainbows and rays of sunlight, practically.
"...and one ssaw. He did not sshare many words. But he ssmelled delicious. Perhapss. ...perhaps that is why he began ssmoking a cigar." Yes. Stirling started smoking a cigar right there and then. No reason. None at all.
"He also sseemed unhappy." Which is a mystery. Why would you be unhappy when there a demons to wreck vengeance upon?
"Well....you may not get a book signed at the moment, Brightscale." Durrankar sighs a bit. "Things....happened in my last mission." He then pats Svarshan on the shoulder. "Come with me." Svarshan may also notice that his staff has a bright and colorful bow.....tied over the mouth of the head. SOmething....is definitely different. And Durrankar tugs Svarshan out of the line....and starts nudging his way through the crowd....
So, Svarshan is grabbed. He follows along well enough, seemingly amiciable. Yes, yes. Scars. Wounds. These are expected.
Met with joy, even.
Demons.
There might be demons, and there is a Solar, here. The warrior's life is very simple, right now. It is so good.
Durrankar actually stops Svarshan in front of the Solar...but far enough away to let the Solar meditate. "HE is the reason why there are so many people out front." he then takes a deep breath. "I was worried we were going to have to kill him."
Stop. Wait. Translate. The sith-makar tilts his head. Words. The shaman is saying words that the Solar is slightly not perfect.
Turn. Observe. Silent question.
Stirling pages: Yes, we will. Stirling doesn't want to be healed because the new arm will be stronger and harder and feels he needs to be stronger and harder to keep dealing with stuff, always upgrading to deal with the next thing. Going back to weak flesh and blood is for when he's done fighting.
"Again....things happened." Durrankar looks to Svarshan. "Daeus was 'displeased'. We went into -his- realm to cleanse a crystal fragment. Someone called it a 'god fragment'....and, we heard Asumit. He had corrupted one of the sailors.....and he corrupted the Solar here." He then lets out another breath. "If it wasn't for Kravar's bravery in taking him on....we'd be dead. Even I wasn't able to dispel Asumit's corruption except for having a second greater dispel. The head priest here....was corrupted by Asumit."
<OOC> Svarshan says, "Head priest here? Father Samuel?"
<OOC> Durrankar says, "It was the head something. head Parrish or something."
<OOC> Durrankar says, "Something with a p"
<OOC> Svarshan ok. Father Samuel is specific here, so I wondered. And ok. :D
<OOC> Durrankar says, "whom the solar exorcised."
A flick if the eyes towards the Solar. Sorrow. Immense sorrow and... "Ssa," he says. He turns to look towards the divine being and... "...it was not enough."
Nothing. The tail sags, and eases to the floor. "The Dragonfather was. Unhappy?"
<OOC> Svarshan nodnods.
"Very. Because of the corruption Asumit decided to bring to the Solar here. It was not focused on us...thankfully." Durrankar looks to the Solar. "We were able to save him though."
Asumit brought the Ssolar. Here. To the Temple of Daeus?" the warrior asks after a time. He looks uncertainly towards the shaman, and his tail flick, flick-flicks. He's straighter now, the shoulders back.
Tension, where there had been happiness. "One misheard, sshaman. Please."
Whirlpool has reconnected.
"No...WE brought the Solar to the temple. So it could heal. Asumit's corruption was in the Dragonfather's realm. After we managed to defeat the solar by impeding the corruption to him, we came here, where the Solar recovered...." Durrankar tries to explain, but...it's clear he's having trouble trying to explain.
<OOC> Whirlpool says, "Correction"
<OOC> Whirlpool says, "Daeus booted ya'll out here and then the Solar showed up afterwards and purged an agent of Asumit from the congregation"
<OOC> Svarshan says, "Oh! Ok. :D"
<OOC> Whirlpool says, "I mean, you never saw him but it was presumably him"
<OOC> Whirlpool says, "Presumably, the Solar showed up because you saved it"
<OOC> Durrankar says, "ah okie"
<OOC> Durrankar says, "Durrankar was brought into a realm that he knew nothing about. Then was booted back here. This is a case of 'dafuq just happened?'"
"...even with all forsses. The Summoner found a. Way." Deeper breath. Deeper one, a steadying one. One that takes in the scents and smells. The air around them. The people. The Solar. The chance of...
Corruption?
"...he wants the Book, shaman. He wants the book. One...one will get one's own book signed, later." Sorrow. Sorrow for so many reasons. "One...one stays here, for a time. Here," he says, and looks to Durrankar. "You will let the People know?"
<OOC> Svarshan says, "Dragonfather hugz! :D"
<OOC> Svarshan is just sayin'. Most important part. <.<
<OOC> Svarshan needs to scramble. See if bakery is still open.
<OOC> Svarshan says, "Or, tears. ;_;"
<OOC> Svarshan ;_; ;_; ;_;
<OOC> Svarshan says, "But--I'mma do a backfill first, so we can pick dis up? Sec."
"I have started. I started with you, Brightscale." Durrankar before looking to the Solar. "he said he is here to guard the book himself, since the one who was guarding the book before was corrupted. I would be glad if you remained to guard as well, at least for a time..."
