RP: Of Clothing & Food
It's Tariday, Rhaltaas 25 19:22:24 1018. The full moon is up. The tide is low and ebbing. The sky is grey-black, without moon or star. It's hard for human eyes to see anything in the deep shadows round about, without a light. The wind is chilly.
A14: Sage Orum's Plaza, University District
The day is quiet and the sun is passing noon. Astaren is sitting on the steps to the library reading a book and making notes in another. Hmmming to himself and oblivious to those passing around him.
One of those passing by is a muscular Arvek Nar in the uniform of an officer of no particular army, wearing a masterful falchion at his side. His manner of passing by is not quite a marching gait, but almost. Just about the moment when he crosses in front of the library, he reaches up to swat a fly from in front of his face. He says, "Shoo!"
Astaren blinks and glances up, "Wait huh, why do I need to shoo?" Picking up his book and scurying back a bit, "Henry, what did I do wrong?" He offers clearly confused by the attitude and behavior. "Also, how have you been?" His smile suddenly going friendly.
Heinrich looks at Astaren, "Huh?... Oh... no, nothing. Just a pesky fly. I'm fine, and how about you? Have you had any word from Rune?"
Astaren ohhs and nods, "I thought you said shoo to me. Had me confused, didn't think you were upset at me. Still a guy in a uniform like yourself is not somebody to be trifled with." He offers and grins, "As for me, good. No real word from Rune yet."
Heinrich says, "Well, hopefully 'No news is good news' as They say. This /uniform/ really doesn't belong to any unit, you know. I wear it for a few reasons. One, it has just that effect--kind of intimidating, which is useful sometimes, especially over in Goblintown. Second, I guess it sort of represents my devotion to Serriel, although it isn't actually a Serrielite uniform, but the sentiment of military bearing is what I mean--the order, the pride, the espirit du corps. Third, I suppose it's a form of wishful thinking. You see, someday, I cherish a hope to find a fighting unit that matches my outlook."
Astaren says, "Finding a group that matches your views and outlook can be a very difficult thing. I wear robes because they are comfy, and I like the colors. No real significance behind them honestly. You were passing by, I hope I am not holding you from anything now?"
Heinrich says, "Not really, just looking for something a little different for a bite. Mostly I eat pretty heavy stuff... Well, typical warrior fare, I suppose. I figured I'd see what was available in this part of town.
Astaren hmms a moment and taps his chin, "You know, I really do not know. I know there is a pastry shop nearby, but other then that." Shrugging his shoulders, "I tend to stick to the red meats and such myself. So havn't paid attention to other foods. That most of them scare me for things I do not know."
Heinrich chuckles. "Yes, you have a point there, but I think if I can stomach that stuff they call food at the Ox-Strength, or even the questionable drivel they serve at Ma Rosie's, I can probably handle some street vendor's wares in the nicer part of town."
Astaren shrugs his shoulders, "Well the one place I do want is for drinks, not for good." He offers and taps his chin, "I will have to see what kind of food is around here. Might have to try a few of the local delacacies myself." Grinning a moment, "And I never trust the street vendors."
Heinrich shrugs. "To each his own, I guess. I think I'll check out that spot just across the way there. See you later, Astaren."
