Personal Ongrid PRPs
About Personal Ongrid PRPs | |
A Personal Ongrid PRP (POP) is similar to a regular PRP, except a POP happens over time within ongrid rooms and is usually centered around your PC--though this may not always be the case. |
Awards |
Awards for a single POP submission are earnable 3 times a month per player that submits for POP rewards. Unlike a typical combat/noncombat PRP or Meetup, each player must submit for POP rewards (like submitting for RPP). |
Finding a Personal Ongrid PRP Premise |
A premise is just an idea of what the story is about. These can evolve naturally as part of RP or as something you draw from another scene. It can be anything you want to RP about. It can be epic or mundane, silly or serious, formal or informal, a significant point of character development or slices of a character's life... basically anything that may come up in roleplay. For example, maybe your character...
Many PCs focus their POPs on things like Aspects, Ancestral Weapons, and so on, but this does not need to be the case. |
Running a POP |
A POP is more informal than other types of PRPs in that it takes place over time, "at the pace of roleplay." The first thing to do is decide upon a story premise. This could be one involving your PC, or an idea that helps someone else's. You can be involved in others' POPs as well as your own. Once you have a story goal in mind, just begin roleplay and draw others in. Along the way, you should speak with others and draw them in. You MUST be clear to other players whether elements you bring into your roleplay relate to your POP, or are part of something else. This is so that staff knows what legwork jobs are going and who should be listed on the legwork jobs. As an aside, you are welcome to "mix" POPs with GMed Scenes, Meetups, and other types of PRPs. This means that you can include a standard (non)combat PRP, or a meetup that you run into your POP submission. However, the POP itself still requires at least three ongrid roleplays of its own. POPs are also not eligible for the First PRP bonus. Running a Group POP While most POPs focus around a PC, sometimes you want to tell a story as a group. While these POPs aren't run much differently than normal POPs, it means that the focus of your story isn't necessarily an individual PC. Instead, it is a goal or premise that a group would be interested in. A POP is the result of organic roleplay and character development; staff will reject submissions for POPs that are the result of malicious cliques that purposefully exclude other players. (The distinction between character and player is important here.) |
Encounters and Challenges |
Unlike standard PRPs, POPs take place over multiple roleplayed scenes and tend to not involve formal challenges and dice. There is not necessarily a central GM like a standard PRP. Their tone is less going after the beast and slaying it than uncovering a developing Aspect (see RPPs). Perhaps it's dealing with some epic psychological aftermath of a plot. Any general challenges you face along the way, however, should be in line with PRP policy. Since we operate on a system of trust, there's actually a lot of leeway given to develop your Small Story and a number of tools available to you. While older players tend to handwave these things, new players might not be aware of them. Here are just a few:
...and so on. As long as you are not:
... Then your POP concept is likely okay. Run it by a staffer if you have any questions or concerns. |

POPs FAQ
Q: How serious/epic/etc. do POPs need to be?
A: POPs can be as serious or as lighthearted as you like.
Q: Can a group of people get together and put forward an idea for a POP, then RP it?
A: Absolutely! They'll just need to submit their own perspectives/requests from their PC.
Q: Can I submit a POP based around random and nonconnected scenes?
A: No.
Q: Can I submit a POP based around a GM'd scene or PRP?
A: POPs should involve primarily ongrid roleplay, but they can include details from a GMed scene and/or a PRP. POPs submissions should contain at least 3 ongrid scenes, including more as desired.
Special: Be clear what information and rumors are related to your POP versus an GM's arc, and so on. This prevents GMs from getting legwork queues that they can't answer. If you're riffing off a GM's arc too, please check in with them as a courtesy.
Q: How many ongrid scenes do I need?
A: We ask you to have at least 3. You can include more than 3 scenes in your submission.
Q: How many scenes am I limited to per submission?
A: There is no current maximum limit, but if you have, for example, 6 scenes, you could submit for two POPs! However, there is a limit of 3 submissions a month per player (not per character), so keep this in mind when you submit your POP.
Q: Can I use +events to help get people together who are involved? Or just invite others to participate?
A: Yes, but using +events is not required.
Q: Can I still collect RPPs?
A: You can collect RPPs during ongrid roleplay as normal along the way.
Q: Where do I send POP submissions?
A: Please use +request/prp.
Q: How often can I earn POP rewards?
A: POPs are rewarded up to 3/month per player, not per character.
Q: Can POPs be ongoing, or in parts?
A: If it's interesting to you, keep going. We'll reward you every month the story continues upon submission.
Q: Do I need logs?
A: You'll need at least three.
Q: Can the award for a POP be given to a different alt?
A: Yes. Just mention this in your +request.
Q: What constitutes as ongrid?
A: Ongrid means any room in the IC setting, as well as the staffer rooms (if a staffer is running an event in them) and the PRP rooms.
Q: Are POPs eligible for the First PRP bonus?
A: No, but meetups and noncombat/combat PRPs are.
