From afar, Munch is up for plottage. Munch is technically out of range, being level 11. But Bennet the palagun is 6th, and Miki is 10th.
Zyla has arrived.
<OOC> Margaret <.<
You paged Munch with 'I'll see who arrives --- if everyone's L11, it won't matter. It is technically non-combat, but an L11 might unbalance it a little.'
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Hello."
Munch has arrived.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "This is going to be run as a Paizo chase. If you have time, then check out the rules: http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/gameMasteryGuide/chases.html" <OOC> Munch peeks, waits. May participate, may just watch, may switch to an alt. <OOC> Iadoth says, "Actions taken during the chase will affect what happens in the end." <OOC> Iadoth says, "The 'baseline speed' is going to be about 200 ft, which is how far a horse moves at a run. So if you're not mounted, you'll face a bit of difficulty --- you'll have to get ahead to be able to attack, or else take long range pot shots." Aya has arrived.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Hiya, Aya!" <OOC> Iadoth catches Aya up. "This is going to be run as a Paizo chase. If you have time, then check out the rules: http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/gameMasteryGuide/chases.html . Actions taken during the chase will affect what happens in the end. The 'baseline speed' is going to be about 200 ft, which is how far a horse moves at a run. So if you're not mounted, you'll face a bit of difficulty --- you'll have to get ahead to be able to attack, or else take long range pot shots." <OOC> Aya waves. <OOC> Zyla says, "hmms i run as fast as a horse. or corra q" <OOC> Aya isn't worried about speed. <OOC> Iadoth says, "This is operated in initiative order. I will describe the scene, giving you tags as to your choices to get out of the current 'square', which is a skill check. If you resolve one action (which you can narrate however you like), then you get out into the next square. If you fail, you stay in the square, and have to face the same obstacle again next turn." <OOC> Iadoth says, "If you want to get a 'speed boost', which means moving three cards, then you have to resolve /both/ skill checks. Failure in either by 5 or more means you get stuck in that square for that turn and the next."

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh, okay. Everyone else okay with the setup?" <OOC> Iadoth says, "I am open to rules changes."
From afar, Munch would very much like Munch to participate, if he may. He is high level... but he's also on foot. Horses fear large predators, like Munch. You paged Munch with 'That's fine! Aya and Zyla are not L6, so it won't unbalance too much.'
<OOC> Munch thinks he understands. May find how wrong he is once we actually start. <OOC> Aya has only skimmed the chase rules, but is otherwise good to go. <OOC> Iadoth says, "You can make a ranged attack (bearing in mind that to fire into the next square means firing 200 ft. or more) or cast a spell during your turn, if you have a standard action to spare (i.e. if you're not on foot!). You can also melee attack if your target is in the same square."
Ga'Elian has arrived.
<OOC> Ga'Elian waves. <OOC> Aya waves. <OOC> Munch waves! <OOC> Iadoth gurr, will have to catch Ga'Elian up! <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Thanks :)" <OOC> Iadoth says, "Are you sitting comfortably?" <OOC> Ga'Elian is actually shaving and about to get into the shower, but will try to keep up. <OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh! It's a chase across Alexandria. You can move your characters between areas if you like --- I will page you the details."
It's Korday, Callem 04 09:24:50 1018. The full moon is up. The tide is high and rising. Everything is pale grey, veiled by mist. It's warm, humid, and still.
<OOC> Ga'Elian read the chase rules a couple days ago.
It's a grey day down by the Malifre Stables, with slightly poor visibility. The spiky hedges surrounding the ranch are laced with dew-laden spiderwebs, as if a witch slept nearby, and there are only a few arvek shuffling about, cleaning out empty stable blocks. Iadoth is there this morning to drop Fry off before she goes on a trip to the Redridge Mountains, and she's talking idly to one of the arvek about how to look after her handsome grey horse.
Munch is a predator. He tends to think of himself as The Predator, but he's never seen a Schwarzenegger film. Still, horses are large bags of tastey meat, and they know it. Anyway, the metal man is content enough on foot, mithril toes digging lightly into the roadtop as he departs the city, heading off for whatever sort of antics he might get into today.
Ga'Elian happens to be passing along Eldwyn Road, walking beside the griffon Erithamiel, just in front of the stables when he notices the familiar sound of Iadoth's voice and detours inside. He cheerfully greets, "Good morning. I thought I heard you." <sildanyari>
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Eithamiel moves 40 ft on land, but flies at 60 ft with average maneuverability"
Aya concludes a brief exchange with an arvek for business unrelated to the stables. After completing her business near the stablehand lodging, she moves back across the grounds towards the stables, themselves, and the road.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay Ga'Elian." <OOC> Iadoth says, "I will lower the baseline speed to 160 ft." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Practically this makes no difference :)" <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "It's all good. :)" <OOC> Iadoth says, "Zyla, are you still here?" <OOC> Iadoth assumes not. Continues.
Zyla has made her way to the stables, but mostly because she was returning a mount that was used to pull a wagon. She hasn't yet departed though is getting ready to.
<OOC> Zyla says, "sorry, net has been funky."
Suddenly, there is a burst of noise from one of the stable blocks. Doors splinter, horses whinny, hay goes flying, and an arvek stablehand is knocked sprawling to the ground as six fine horses, Iadoth's grey horse included, come through the door, ridden by...
Gobbers?!
Each horse is being ridden by two goblins, one facing forward and tugging hard on the reins, spurring as they go, and one facing backwards, pointing pistols at anybody daring to look at them.
"Stop them!" Comes an arvek nar voice. "Stop them, quickly!"
Ga'Elian turns after the run-aways and leaps up onto Erithamiel's back, telling his mount "After them, boy!" <sildanyari>
Aya stops with a start as the doors splinter. Brows arch as horses bolt and arvek yell. It's the fact that the horses are carrying gobbers that finally makes her blink.
Munch hesitates only a moment. Gobbers aren't very tastey, but he's supposed to be a hero, or something. But the real factor is they dared to point weapons at him. You let one guy get away with that sort of thing, and soon everyone's trying it. Murmuring softly, he starts after the riders at a slow jog, his pace slowly increasing...
Zyla blinks herself and is glad that she is skilled at moving fast, she shakes her head a bit, and starts to move, get a good start and one should be able to keep up with a horse, at least she hopes so.
The 'orse fieves are headed towards the gate. "Don't hurt the horses!" The arvek shouts. Surely that's obvious, but he's looking at Munch. Iadoth chimes in; "Fry!" she cries, but the horse doesn't turn.
There are two clear choices at this stage: Either the horses will have to <leap the closed gate>, or else <go through the barbed hedge>, which is reputedly poisoned.
<OOC> Munch says, "okay, not fully clear action order here... but for my first set, mean to take a regular Move action (medium creature, 30ft, barbarian Fast Movement+10) and Cast Blur on myself." <OOC> Iadoth is going to throw a timestop

Ga'Elian pages: What I would normally try here is to get airborne and fly ahead of the horses, then turn and charge them head on and have the griffon (whose favorite meal horses are) screech at them with his wings fully expanded -- an intimidate attempt, trying to get the horses to buck their riders and stop running away from the stables.
<OOC> Munch says, "Okay, so move and cast?" <OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay, Munch. They have the hump on you, because, surprise round. So..."

The eight horses and sixteen riders break into two groups. One heads for the gate, and makes to leap it...
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "In which group is Fry?"
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d2: (1): 1

... but the horses have other ideas, and whinny and rise, staying firmly in the yard. Meanwhile, the second group make a break for it, going for the razor-sharp hedges instead.
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d20+4: (14)+4: 18
The barbs really dig into the houses, which whinny and bray. But they are through the hedges, at least. For now, though, they're not moving, licking their wounds instead.
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d3: (2): 2
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Right! Munch, you're up now. Sorry for the delay. Basically, Group 1 are still in the stableyard, whereas Group 2 are through the hedge... but aren't moving anywhere next round either." <OOC> Munch says, "Okay. Cast, and head towards the hedge. Mere 40ft movement this round."
GAME: Munch attempts to cast Blur but fails due to ASF.
<OOC> Munch pokes the code. Blur has no Somatic component... <OOC> Iadoth says, "You're fine then." <OOC> Iadoth says, "You can attempt to move out of this 'square' this round with a Fortitude check. This'll put you ahead of the pack."
GAME: Munch rolls fort: (14)+16: 30
<OOC> Iadoth says, "You're through the hedge, then, and have resisted the poison!"
GAME: Iadoth advances the initiative order. Round Two - Init 18. It is now Group2's turn! Zyla is next!
<OOC> Iadoth says, "The hedge horses are, uhh, on the hoof!"
Munch's murmur turns to a high buzzing, thousands of tiny scales vibrating off his metallic skin and hoving around his body in a cloud, distorting his outline. Heading towards the hedge, the metal man crashes though, the thorns that dare try to pierce his hide met by toxins they stand no chance against.
The horses are spurred into action, and are soon far away down the Eldwyn Road, their goblin riders yipping and yelling as they go.
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d20+3: (8)+3: 11 GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d3: (2): 2 GAME: Iadoth advances the initiative order. Round Two - Init 13. It is now Zyla's turn! Group1 is next!

<OOC> Iadoth says, "Ooh, not quite enough. Sorry, but you're stuck in the stables for now!" <OOC> Zyla says, "k" <OOC> Iadoth says, "You can still do a standard action; those horses and their riders are still in your square." <OOC> Zyla says, "so could punch one of the riders, or do something to one of the horses yes?" <OOC> Iadoth nodnods! <OOC> Zyla says, "stunning fist on one of the horses then, non lethal damage" <OOC> Iadoth says, "... aaaand encourages this, because if you get to the end with fewer horses, that'll make your fight easier."
GAME: Zyla rolls unarmed: aliased to Melee+1+1: (1)+11+1+1: 14 (EPIC FAIL)
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Well, that makes that rules lookup easier." <OOC> Iadoth muufuu. <OOC> Iadoth says, "That's actually hilarious, because the horse is only AC14."
Zyla tries to jump the gate herself, and misjudges it, not quite making it over, at least the riders that tried to jump it didn't make it either, so they are closer. She reaches out and tries to deliver a stunning blow to one of the horses, but is still off balance from failing her jump and whiffs her fist past the horse, barely.
GAME: Iadoth advances the initiative order. Round Two - Init 11. It is now Group1's turn! Aya is next! GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d20+18: (9)+18: 27
The first group of horses make another go of clearing the gate, and they all make it. Within moments they are off down the Eldwyn Road, galloping loudly after their partners in crime.
GAME: Iadoth advances the initiative order. Round Two - Init 9. It is now Aya's turn! Ga'Elian is next!
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Aya!" <OOC> Aya says, "I assume that I need to move. Are the horses all headed for the road or same general direction, despite attempting different routes?" <OOC> Iadoth says, "The horses are all headed for the road, away towards the city." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Whoops, should've mentioned that before. Yep, towards the city." <OOC> Aya will attempt to get out ahead of them, if she can reasonably estimate their course. <OOC> Iadoth says, "Munch, you're still on the Eldwyn Road square, along with both groups of horses." <OOC> Iadoth says, "They're headed south, towards Alexandria. If you get ahead of them and wait in the Memorial Gardens District, they'll pass through." <OOC> Iadoth says, "To get there, you need to overcome both obstacles..." <OOC> Aya will Abundant Step ahead, up to 720 feet. <OOC> Iadoth says, "Wassat do?" <OOC> Iadoth checks. I'm okay with that. <OOC> Aya says, "It acts as Dimension door. Teleportation." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Okay. You're at the Memorial Gardens District." <OOC> Iadoth says, "I'm going to call that a standard action. You can move from the MGD if you want to." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Otherwise, just pose it and we'll continue."
GAME: Iadoth advances the initiative order. Round Two - Init 8. It is now Ga'Elian's turn! Munch is next!
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Ga'Elian! What do you want to do?" <OOC> Aya says, "It's a move, but can't take any actions after, so it's effective the full turn." <OOC> Iadoth nodnods.
Aya could probably catch up to or keep up with the horses, if she pushed herself. She could possibly vault the gate or hedges without too much difficulty. On the other hand, none of that effort is really necessary. Her form instantly darkens to pitch and then vanishes with lingering puffs shadowy tendrils. With a similar *PUFFT*, she re-appears many, many strides ahead, inside the gates where the horses and rustlers look to be headed.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "... Ga'?"
From afar, Aya hopes that does not make things unwieldy. You paged Aya with 'It won't, I don't think. You still don't know where they're headed; you might have to wait a while whilst they catch up!' From afar, Aya nods.
<OOC> Ga'Elian is back <OOC> Iadoth says, "Huzzah!" <OOC> Iadoth says, "Watcha wanna do?" <OOC> Ga'Elian tries to get ahead (both obstacles) <OOC> Iadoth says, "Gotcha. How?" <OOC> Iadoth means flight or landspeed. <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "flight." <OOC> Iadoth nodnod. <OOC> Iadoth notes that 'flight' gives only a +10 to either roll. <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "I'll take it for the hedge" <OOC> Iadoth says, "Actually, 'flight' shouldn't really give a +10 to the Fortitude save." <OOC> Iadoth means both rolls, but notes the addendum.
From afar, Aya can still make rolls, as required, also. Long distance to Aya: Iadoth nodnods.
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "I'd guess the +10 has to do with getting beyond the barriers, not with the poison." <OOC> Iadoth shakes head. "It's a Fortitude save, not a skill check." <OOC> Ga'Elian then let's put the +10 on the gate? <OOC> Iadoth gives a thumbs up.
GAME: Ga'Elian rolls Fort: (8)+7: 15 GAME: Ga'Elian rolls comp_fort: aliased to 1d20+8: (19)+8: 27
<OOC> Iadoth only really needed the latter, which is successful :) <OOC> Iadoth says, "Next step: the gate." <OOC> Aya thinks you can roll your companion's sheet directly, Ga'elian, as an FYI. <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "How (syntax?)" <OOC> Aya thinks it's just companionthing. companionmelee, companionreflex, companioncmb. "I'm looking for the post." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Oh, and you get a +8 bonus for being 40 ft. above the baseline speed. So you succeed automatically on this roll. Just pose it up: flying over the gate, unscathed by the thorns."
GAME: NEW ROUND! Iadoth advances the initiative order. Round Three - Init 20. It is now Munch's turn! Group2 is next!
<OOC> Iadoth says, "MUNCHULOUS! Are you still here?" <OOC> Munch says, "yes, if distracted." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Ga', you're in the Memorial Gardens District now, along with Aya." <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Do I also have a standard action? or was that it?" <OOC> Iadoth says, "Nah, that's full round." <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Ok"
Ga'Elian spurs his mount into flight, clearing the gate and hedge. As he soars southward to the City, Erithamiel utters a loud screech.
<OOC> Iadoth pokes Munch a bit. Just 'cause. <OOC> Munch says, "Medium creature (30) barbarian fast movement (40) boots of speed (70) Swift Movement Rage power (75) Run feat (375)" <OOC> Iadoth thumbs up! Speedy. You're on Eldwyn Road. There aren't any obstacles here, but there are both groups of horses. So, you can make a standard action, and move onto the next square too without making a roll. <OOC> Munch says, "Attack a gunning gobber?" <OOC> Iadoth says, "Sounds like a plan."

Munch flexes his toes, a shower of rainbow sparkles lending arcane haste to his limbs. Bladders of toxic chemicals compress, pumping into artifical muscles to lend ferocious, if temporary, strength. Digging his toes into the road, Munch takes off in a literal blur, moving faster than the average horse. Racing to the crowd of riders, the barbarian's axe flashes, the blade whisteling though the air. But such high speeds are easy to misjudge, and the goblin keeps his hide intact, for now. Though the horses are likely nervous, with a Munch amoung their numbers.
The injured group of horses head away down the Eldwyn Road towards the Northern Gates. As they pass, the four pistoleros take a potshot at Munch...

Not sure where the gobbeers are trying to take them, but won't go well with panicked horses, i figure."
Up in the air, ahead south of the gates, Ga'Elian rises, borne aloft by his majestic griffon. He looses two arrows as the first group of horses approaches the city gates, dealing the lead horse a mightily bruising blow, to which it reacts by throwing its riders. The second shot draws blood from the rider of the second horse. The words of the ranger are lost in the commotion, distance, and altitude.

GAME: Iadoth advances the initiative order. Round Four - Init 18. It is now Group2's turn! Zyla is next!
<OOC> Aya says, "What is the weakpoint/" <OOC> Aya thinks she just got lost somewhere.
Munch roars. This is not unlike a buzzsaw going though sheetmetal. An -angry- buzzsaw. Throw in claws, fangs, and leathery wings flareing out, and even a a dragon might take pause. Horses? Horse are very very *NOT* happy to be around the metal man. Feet still sparkeling rainbows, he heads for the gates the riders seem to be aiming towards.
The group at the Northern Gates look at the crowds, which are going to be tricky to get through. Fortunately, the riders are extremely experienced, and just weave through the crowd without difficulty.

A good speech for fellow Korrites and seekers of battle. For followers of Serriel and justice, not quite so much. And, shouting at a festival only gets you so far, even as a giant.
<OOC> Munch says, "Intimidate i think would cause the crowd to help the wrong group." <OOC> Iadoth says, "The DC for Diplomacy was 15; Intimidate used like that requires '1 minute of conversation'." <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Ah"
The crowd cheer and carouse, chucking quantities of beer into the air. It is collective raucousness, insofar as that's a word.
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Want to move onto the next area, Munch, to get ahead of them?" <OOC> Munch says, "yes please" <OOC> Iadoth says, "Would you like to (a) look for the shortcut (Perception DC25) or (b) go through the crowd (Will check, DC20)" <OOC> Munch will look
GAME: Munch rolls perception: (15)+17: 32
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Winner!" <OOC> Iadoth says, "You're through the Festival Grounds and onto the Temple District."
The Temple District is not as busy as the Festival Grounds, but the wind has blown much of the famous fountains' water all over the street. To get through, you're going to have to brave the slippery cobbles --- or perhaps you can remember a shortcut through the temples?
GAME: Iadoth advances the initiative order. Round Seven - Init 18. It is now Group2's turn! Zyla is next!
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Need I roll Perception to keep them in sight as they move southward?" <OOC> Iadoth says, "They haven't escaped yet!" <OOC> Iadoth says, "It'll be obvious where they're headed once they get through. There's only one exit, into the Temple District. From there it's less obvious, but if they get miles ahead you'll have to make a survival roll."
The second group of horses have a go at getting through the crowd, having to control the horses as the arvek yell and cheer.
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d20+8: (7)+8: 15
They don't quite manage it, and are still stuck within the crowd itself. The gunslingers take rough shots as they pass...
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d2: (2): 2
<OOC> Munch does leave a pretty wide wake of destruction to follow... just hope he's on the right path if you follow him
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d20+12-2: (5)+12+-2: 15
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Ga', does that hit your touch AC?"
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d20+12-2: (12)+12+-2: 22 GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d20+12-2: (6)+12+-2: 16
<OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Dex mod=+5 so, just barely not" <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "the other two do, though"
GAME: Iadoth rolls 2d6: (9): 9 GAME: You damaged Ga'Elian for 9 points. 60 remaining.
<OOC> Ga'Elian reminds the GAME that it is the players who are supposed to get the good rolls. :D <OOC> Iadoth says, "Can you roll your Ride skill then?"
GAME: Ga'Elian rolls Ride: (9)+15: 24
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Unless your modifier is greater than 5... oh." <OOC> Iadoth says, "Yeah you're fine." <OOC> Ga'Elian also has Mounted Combat.
Two of the three shots hit, but Ga'Elian remains in the saddle as he flies overhead, harrying the horses.
GAME: Iadoth advances the initiative order. Round Seven - Init 13. It is now Zyla's turn! Group1 is next! GAME: Iadoth advances the initiative order. Round Seven - Init 11. It is now Group1's turn! Aya is next!
The first group of horses, with Fry at its head, have a second look for that elusive shortcut taken by Munch.
GAME: Iadoth rolls 1d20+10-2: (12)+10+-2: 20
They don't manage it either, and now all of them are stuck in the arvek crowd, harangued together.
GAME: Iadoth advances the initiative order. Round Seven - Init 9. It is now Aya's turn! Ga'Elian is next!
<OOC> Iadoth says, "Aya!" <OOC> Iadoth says, "... Aya?" <OOC> Munch thinks we're fadeing. Is past bedtime himself. <OOC> Iadoth nodnods. <OOC> Iadoth may have to schedule a Part 3. <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Maybe tomorrow? (Or anytime between now and about the next 7 hours works for me, too.)" <OOC> Munch says, "Tomarrow i should be able to do." <OOC> Iadoth will try for tomorrow. <OOC> Munch heads off to sleep. Makes note for tomarrow. <OOC> Iadoth nodnods, thanks Munch! <OOC> Ga'Elian says, "Laters."
