  • Characters: Kaelyn, Merek, Braelnoir, Cryosanthia, Ezil, Raethon

  • Summary: The three scaley amigas go to the Steelbelt Inn at Port Alexandria, to pick up Braelnoir's equipment and question the staff about the previous night. Along the way, they draw some attention both foreign and domestic. Despite Cryo's assurances that it's part of a play, the street is concerned by what seems to be a dragon and a chimera on the loose. Once inside the Steelbelt, the patrons are convinced the transformed pair are actually in magical costumes (sourced locally!) as part of a Play happening at the Invisible Theater. Food is about to be ordered, when a minor Noble and major pain of Kaelyn's arrives, with an entourage and the intent to capture her for his menagerie. Braelnoir waps a dwarf with her tail, and a struggle commences. The Noble orders his liverymen to subdue the Feather Dragon, and Kill the demon. Merek, in a celestial form, strikes the Noble down dead, and blinds one of his men. The liverymen are thrown into confusion and their Underboss commands them to keep fighting while he runs away. 'For Help'. Some leave, sooner and later, some attack to subdue, others go at Merek with daggers. Raethon uses his magic to bodyslam one of them into the others. The liverymen, intimidated by Kaelyn's breath weapon and reconsidering Merek's words of wisdom, eventually all break and flee. The Watch, and then some Temple Vergers arrive and attempt to make sense of things. There has been a death and even if it was through self-defense, it's not a trivial laughing matter.

The Sea Walls of Alexandria have been called a Wonder of the World. So has its port. From here, one can see both--the walls, rising either side of the mighty Tornmawr River where it feeds into the Inner Sea, and the Port. A port of international envy, ships fill its waters in plenty, along with the Alexandrian Navy. To the south and all sides, the Inmost Sea stretches. To the North, the Sea Wall, and a great gate which leads to the shining city.

Overhead, flies the flag of the Phoenix. Atop the wall, massive artifice-lights shine out into the waters. -=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-

The Steelbelt Inn, located near the wharf and the shipyards. Across from a brewery that is both competitor and supplier, it is a favourite haunt of the shipbuilders and a 'local' bar that is skipped by sailors, who want something more like the Ox-Strength where there will be a mix of strangers and reputation doesn't follow.

A butchers right next to the Steelbelt supplies it with meat, which is provided by local hunters and farmers. On the verge of closing for the day, it looks more reputable than the Steelbelt, which isn't a high bar to clear. The Inn knows not to do the clientelle too dirty, but isn't particularly reputable in appearance.

Kae is one of the first ones to the area, she makes a great blocker for traffic and all, as while the furry/feathery aspect does kind of make folks less leary of her than say a normal draconic critter, she's still well, as far as others are concerned a dragon.. Ie, larg eengine of destruction with big teeth, claws, wings and a breath weapon...

As she wanders by, one sailor can be seen pausing to look into his drink, then sigh and drink the rest of it, maybe in an effort to forget...

Then Kae sees the butcher curiously... She then tilts her head to the right, ears perking, before she looks now to the bar, then back and forth... "I like there being a close by butcher..." She says cheerfully and looks now at the inn/bar/restaraunt curiously.

Merek makes a way to the shipyards while he's on delivery with his cloak adjusted about attire. He makes to the place and looks to see if they will let him within!

Finally mostly not gleaming now that the sun's gone down, Brae's new form only takes to the occaisional lamplight as she passes, broken by hair, scar or her really humble, if pragmatically short, dress. She's making a decent showing with the hooves, despite the occaisional stumble due to a slightly raised cobblestone here and there, she observes, "Well... I ain't got any new night vision, so I assume I still got m'own peepers." in a reasonably casual tone, tail(s) idly lashing with her stride behind her, "Haven't got a proper look at myself since... hell, yesterday... I think." Kae's remark brings a deep breath and an almost dreamy sigh, "Oh, yeah... I could kill for a good hank of beef, right now." This brings alarm to several citizens who are giving the... interesting group a wide berth.

"Hey Merek!" Cryosanthia calls out, raising a hand in his direction. She's following along. Mostly, she's been watching how Braelnoir moves, and the way the setting sun reflects off her silver scales. Occasionally, she looks at her own shadow or reflection in passing windows, Azog's earlier comments still on her mind. Thus, she watches how the silvery demonic chimera moves, Kaelyn's often quadrapedal gait, and keeps her own motions understated with the exception of bouncy tail movements.

"Did you want to buy a side of something... like a horse?" The white-scaled sith teases Kaelyn. "You can see some reflections, if there's a light and the house is dark, but people might not like you looking in their windows. You're somewhat fearsome. I'm surprised the guard haven't come around to see."

"It's all right, stage costume!" Cryosanthia calls out to people giving them a long stare. Perhaps they'll believe that...

Kae ooohs "I've had like looots of runins with the guard, at first they thought I was sandy. I had to point out she was a rainbow dragon, and I am missing colors!" She saysand then looks around curiously, perking her ears and staring as a couple sailors walk by, muttering about dragons and, none of the muttering is remotely complimentary...

Kae peers at them and asides to Brae and Cryo.. "I dun think dragons maybe too terribly popular here... " She says and looks back at the bar door, she studies it and umms "You want me go first? Or should Brae or you go first?" She asks the other two ladies, looking from one to another...

She then blinks at the mentioning of half a horse... "I dun think I could eat that much on a good day..." She says and tilts her head "Maybe a quarter cow though, maybe... big maybe..."

Merek notices all of the people, with a nod to Cryosanthia and to Kae and Brae, with a lift of his brow to the new form. He doesn't comment it looks like. He pulls his cloak to him a bit as well.

Braelnoir frowns a little as she looks back over to Cryo at her remark, though she trips a little with some quick clip-clopclopclop before she steadies herself, "Huh." Huh. Well, she's more intimidating when she's ending people for Kor's amusement, she supposes, though there is a little bit of a nag, at the thought. She looks to Kae for the welcome distraction, "A rainbow dragon?" say she who has actually never met the Lady Sandy, "Ain't that just swampgas mercs like t'blow at newbies t'try an impress them?" As she turns back around toward the direction of travel she pauses and draws back a step, "Oh! Ah... Hi, Merek...! Funny thing happend while I was earnin' my hangover this morning..."

"I've met a Sandy, she wasn't a dragon. She was an elf full of candy. Swampgas rumours seem much more likely." Cryosanthia observes.

"Well Kae, there are three of us, and Merek. I'm sure we could put away a lot. Their chef can hardly complain if we give them the meat to work with. Did you bring your spices? Pick something out. I... I should warn them first, I think." The palescale sith says, slipping up to the entrance to the Steelbelt. "Ha! Safetyboots! I get it! And I have claw-caps, excellent."

Sweeping inside she can be heard to announce loudly, "Ladies and Gentlemen, The Invisible Theater travelling show is about to grace your establishment. Marvel at the costuming for 'The Dragon and the Demon', a pantomime that is showing in the Theatre District all this week. Check there for times."

There is a noisy response, more grumbling than appreciative. Ship-builders apparently aren't that interested in street theater. Cryo's head pops back out the door, "I think it's good. c'mon in."

Kae peers, and smirks... "Whatever changed me evidently got her too." She says simply, her ears pricking forward then backing... Then she splays them as she looks around curiously at folks... Off in the not too far distance, there's a group of sailors/soldier types from some other country, one motioning at the trio, though maybe it's not quite super visible...

Kae glances to Merek and wiggles clawed fingers at him before shrugging "Okie, in we go." She says and well in goes the elf-turned-feather dragon...

She's just uses the horned crown of her head to push the door open as she wanders on inside, considering the size of the place it's a bit of a squeeze to get through the door, but Kae is soon inside...

She pauses briefly and moves off to the side... "Oooki doki... here's hoping for some good brews and a really big steak.... I could so use a giant steak..."

"Sandy is powerful," Merek mentions, with a nod to all three. He lifts a brow to what Brae says, but it doesn't look like he has a comment for it. He follows along with Cryosanthia, he doesn't look like he has a lot to say while he shifts that cloak about the frame.

Braelnoir glances sidelong at Kaelyn, "Think it's a romantic comedy?" she quips then looks herself and her sister-in-superscience-shennanigans. Hmmm. Ok, sturdy hardwood floor... she doesn't remember it being polished, though gods know how often it's been spilled/puked on. She remembers taking a pony into a feasthall once, the stopping didn't go so good, so steady, easy pace. She smiles reassuringly (she hopes) to Merek, then, steadying herself with a forepaw on the doorjam, steps in into the bar proper after him, "Make it two, luv!" Not quite catching sight of the foreign admirers just yet.

There are a lot of staring eyes inside the Steelbelt as well. A couple workers are rising, hands going to heavy tools at their belts. It wasn't crowded until Kaelyn got inside, but that much dragon is going to crowd any space.

"Here, let me move a table." The white sith is dragging one out of the way for the dragon. Turning to the patrons she tries again, "These are costumes! It's fine, We're Players! The Dragon and the Demon is a romantic comedy about eithics, as two plane crossed lovers argue philosopy using common puns. Uh... here's our manager."

Merek is grabbed like a shield, moved around to be visible.

Her own Steelbelt claws clickity-tickity as the sith moves about on the polished floor. "See the realistic scales! Bought from local metalworkers, sewn together by seamstresses!"

Merek is used like a shield, which brings the man to the front. He glances between the people in the place, then he nods a bit. Lifting up both of his gloved hands, he speaks with a smoky voice, commanding attention. "Everyone here will be fine, I speak with the blessing of Eluna, whatever these three will say, they are within my protection!" The three of them probably have not seen him in this way before.

GAME: Merek rolls diplomacy: (19)+24: 43

Kae blinks a few times and leans over as she whispers to Cryo, in Draconic no less (( I dont' think you can pass what I look like as a costume... too natural)) She says and then glances up again and Merek does his thing....

Kae's tail twitche sand she then shrugs... "Sooo, two tomahawk steaks, big ones, and ummm what else?" She asks curiously, before looking at Cryo. "You wanna go put our orders in?" She asks now, and then looks arond once more.

The group of soldiers/sailors can be heard getting closer, though they are outside...

GAME: Merek rolls perception: (14)+25: 39
GAME: Braelnoir rolls perception: (17)+0: 17

Ahem, "Support yer local tradesmen, m'luvlies, be astounded by what they can do!" Brae starts, glancing around, "Amazin' fit, really!" She eyes the fellows readyin' tools and she slowly eases further into the common room and sets a 'hand' into the fluff, "But, yeah, I'll take a couple of those tomahawk steaks, too, and some ale, if ya would?" Either she mistook Kaelyn's order for being just her own(or got it right) or she's honestly wants meat that badly.

Cryosanthia can convince people of anything! At least, she believes so. Hands on hips, wide power stance, she radiates confidence as Merek casts his spell and calms the crowd. Success! At least, enough to convince them they aren't a threat. Even though the gods might be moved by Merek's intervention, these shipbuilders aren't interested in sharing the Inn with... whatever collection just entered. Several swallow their drink, or hastily cram what remains of their meals in their mouth, chewing it down, then file out the door. With only a little grumbling.

The sudden exodus only encourages those outside to believe something is up. Something, dangerous.

Cryo answers Kaelyn, "Magic, magic explains everything. I'll put the orders in. Three... four... you want one Merek, I'll ask for five, and Ales." The palescale slips into the back.

"Hey... Hi...." The door closes, cutting off her ordering.

GAME: Merek casts Angelic Aspect. Caster Level: 9 DC: 19

Merek looks to the door, his white-black armor making a little bit of noise while his cloak shifts with him, his gaze then looking to the door. He lifts up a hand with a simple word of power, while black wings which look angelic begin to appear from the back, a halo shifting about him while the energy of the divine empowers the man as well. "Who enters?" he asks.

Kae looks to Cryo and snorts a bit of a laugh, smoke pluming from her nose in twin streamers "Yeah magic." She says and smirks again as she sits on her haunches at the table. she looks to Brae and umms "Soo yeah, first big thing you gotta get used to, when yer all wierd and stuff.. stares... Then there's often jibes and stuff..." She says and grins a bit... "OOoh and if yer big? Apetite.. I've learned I have a kind of built in, quick trigger? I guess? Specially when I get cranky, growled at this noble the other day, even bared teeth when he was making nasty remarks about me while I was picking up food..."

Kae says and shrugs... "As I said, cranky..." She adds and looks to Merek curiously... "Anyhoos, thanks for going with us!" She peers back toward the kitchen too..

Outside? There's a bit more hooplah, and before long a well, rich, noble-type looking person wanders in... Along with an entorage, and he slowly starts looking around the place...

Kae blinks and whispers "Speaking of...."

Ezil opens that door next, confused and a bit wary as he steps in from the street. Yes, his hand was on the weapon at his side, but as he sees the source of the ruckus he relaxes."They said it was a demon!" motioning outside. A double-take having to be taken "You know... people outside are really gossiping. What happened?" taking a moment to look out the door to after the people who have fled, and drawing it tightly shut. "They're all out there making a scene. I should of known who it was, but they got me believing it too." he says, happening by outside it seems.

Braelnoir absently runs her forepaw along fluffiness for a moment or two before she notices and hastily pulls the limb back and staggers just a little. Ahem, "Sorry, luv." It's about then that Merek ups his own limb count and she twists in to see what's prompted the reaction, slapping some poor bar patron across the face with one of her spaded taltips, "Whoa, what's up?" A look up to Kae, "Oh. This is 'bout t'get complicated, I reckon. Oh, hey Eezee!"

Merek looks thoughtfully to Brae, with a nod to the woman in thought, then he looks to Kae as well as Ezil, and to Cryosanthia. Then he waits to see what way things will go while he shifts that cloak.

"Quiet Lout!" A scruffy looking man with a broken nose tells Ezil. "He's about to speak."

"I am Taylaren Scythe of House Pindlewick, and that Quetzolequatl will go wonderfully in my Bestiary. A spot in my stable is already prepared. The demon I shall dispatch as a public service. You need not concern yourself Celestial, Alexandria can handle this foulness." He sweeps his hand forward, "bludgeon it men, dispatch that."

The entourage, a sizeable collection of rough fellows draw sap-sticks and surge forward.

Meanwhile, the customer who was tailslapped grabs at it, throwing a fist at Brealnoir.

Everyone else who was sitting and eating, watching the show, stand now and back away so the show can go on.

The party is in a loose cluster near the door, with Cryo in the back and not visible. Around the Inn, there are eleven dockworkers, one is punching Braelnoir. The Noble came in with 15 liverymen as his entourage, who are moving to attack. Their orders, disable the quetzokoatl, kill the demon, coming with clubs, trunchards and sap-sticks.

GAME: Ezil rolls weapon0: (6)+5: 11

Ezil sees the situation, his glance going hard as he notices the thugs. He wastes no time, rushing the man closest to him that goes after Kaelyn, but his hook goes wife. He's not a pugilist, but he's been in a few barfights before. More now that he's here in Alexandria. "Hands off the girls!"

Merek looks to the noble as well as the thugs with him, "You won't, they are people that have magic on them," he says, while he begins to lift a mantra before him, the bolts swinging from it into the noble along with two thugs, the purple arrows of shadow material forming magical darkness upon the three. "You should take your leader and be about your way!"

GAME: Shipbuilding Dwarf rolls 1d20+2: (7)+2: 9

The shipbuilding dwarf (who says they all have to be miners) whose meal is interrupted with a tailslap, snarls, "Watch yerself yew glittery pint." He swings at Braelnoir, missing. Short arms.

The gloomblind bolts hit the Noble and one of his thugs, the third goes wild. The shadow spreads across both, high class and street born. Entombing their bodies in draining darkness. The noble drops to the floor. The thug, remains standing with his eyes wide and drops his sap, "I'm blind." The one who was missed, shaken by Merek's presence, drops beside his boss and examines him. "He's dead."

"Avenge Taylaren!" The broken-nosed thug shouts, "It's also a disguised demon! He murdered the Boss"

There is confusion in the ranks, a few turn and draw weapons, rushing Merek. A couple stand there, others move for the feathery dragon and the demon.

Everyone else, who was standing and watching, decides to leave, heading for the kitchen.

It's pandemonium. Five of the thugs are looking around in confusion, this was supposed to be a simple mission where they outnumbered the target. Suddenly, they're outnumbered, or it feels like it.

Others, stay the course. Three surround Kaelyn, swinging at her head, her sides. Their sap-sticks missing or bouncing off the feathers.

The ones attacking Merek do much better. Drawing daggers, they stab. One plunges his deep, the other lands a significant slice. The third moves into position but his blow misses.

The final thug creeps up behind Braelnoir and gives her a solid wack across the back of her head. He's quite satisfied, then concerned. Where is his support? He looks around, "Guys? Are you helping? What?"

As the kitchen door swings open, Cryosanthia's voice is heard exclaiming, "What the Scales!" She's unable to get past the rush of people taking refuge in the back.

It kind of hurts! Yup, but well the majority of the hits, either bounce off her horns, or well feathers of her wings.......

Kae's tail lashes and she covers her snout with her hands, at least for a little bit, eyes closed, before a little something clicks... Suddenly those eyes snap open, those slitted pupils as narrow and dangerous as they can be..

Then there's the sound of air being sucked in, it's coming from Kae, deep, there's a bit of a whistle and she's suddenly rearing before she exhails, hard. A blue lance of well, energy leaves her maw, this aimed for the door of all things, and suddenly a big chunk of the door, and part of the wall too is blown outward, the rest scorched and smoking as arcs oof electricity it seems crawls around its surface... Smoke slowly seeps form Kae's nostrils before she simply roars. It starts as a low rumble, before the room is filled with the noise, it's simply earsplitting.

Another breath and Kae can be heard shouting "Enough! Stop! This is stupid!"

Well, that got real, fast! The silvery 'demon', who, despite her relative demeanor is kind of wierded out by the whole new inlook from life is a bit slow on the uptake at first. Brae's tail slips out of the inebriated grasp, "Sor-!" she starts, though she gasps at the touch and turns in a hurry in time for the Dwarf to take a swing at her, which, she stumbles back into a table to avoid. Right or not, no one swings at her without rebuke! She folds her leonine forepaw across her chest, about to knock the hell out of him, when she gets waylaid by the asshole she lost track of in the confusion. Alright, that hurt, and you only have to get arrested a couple times to realize the sudden knot you have on the back of your head did -Not- come from a fist! She turns then, then with a keening yowl to let "KOOOOOORRRRRRRRRR!" know someone's about to get their ass kicked. She bunches her shoulder, giving the fellow an opening to skate the sap against her scaled brow then unleashes a savage backhand at the sapwielder, her fingers splayed in the aftermath with feline claws momentarily unfurled. It doesn't last long, they get shy, but they apparantly -do- work.

Gloombolts, an explosion that blew a hole in the roof. The Alexandrians outside watch the Steelbelt Inn, talking about the Dragon and Demon that must be fighting inside.

The explosion of the wall and door draws SOMEONE'S attention all right. The door swings open, or what's left of it, and in walks an elf with a staff. "What the hell is going ON in here!?" He tries to yell over the noise.

"I said LISTEN!" his voice raising. "Either stop this craziness, or take it outside! Someone's hurt damnit!" well dead really, but Ezil didn't stop and check. Still it served the guy right. Even if things went wrong.

GAME: Merek rolls diplomacy: (10)+24: 34

Merek looks to the man he hit with the gloomblind bolt, taking a moment to realize what he did to him. "No! I didn't mean it!" He then begins to back up, he's distracted by what he did, and as such gets shanked by a few daggers which draw his blood upon the floor. "I can bring him back! I know the magic, I can!" he doesn't look like he wants to fight while his wings begin to shift about.

Several of the liverymen look at Merek in confusion, seeing his genuine contrition. The Boss is down, and their assignment no longer makes sense. Some, hesitate and do nothing. The ones trying to avenge their boss, keep stabbing him. Others in combat with Braelnoir and Kaelyn hear the compelling arguments, but don't absorb them... yet.

"Delay them, I'll get the watch." The broken-nose Thug commands, immediately running for the door, and towards Raethon. The one checking his Boss continues to do that, and futilely attempts to revive him. As the other 'leader' tries to exit, several of the shaken thugs think that's a great idea, and follow.

Bar patrons are still pouring into the kitchen as quickly as they can, the place is swiftly draining.

"Help us!" The three on Kaelyn shout at the others who were standing there. One shakes himself, they all look kind of frightened, but there's some rough loyalty and he steps up to the Feather Dragon, swinging. The dwarf that swung at Brealnoir watches her turn and clock the thug behind her. He hears the solid thump of the blow. Those paws look pretty wicked. "Yer know what, ahm gonna leave ya ta it."

The guy she punched is backing up, he's looking over at the remaining squad, "What the hell guys? I'm not fighting her alone! Do something!"

The blinded thug practically begs, "What's going on, guys? I can't see! Someone get me out of here." He grabs the nearest body.

As he flails about, he grabs Raethon.

Kae blinks as she's smacked across the jaw with a sap? She sniffs some, and rubs her nose, before she sees the fellow looking kind of triumphant and all after doing damage, and Kae reaches out with one of her forelimps, trying to just knock the dude into the floor. Then she turns glancing over her shoulder and lashing out with that tail of hers!! "Eat floof!" She calls out... She's all but sulking at having somehow missed with both... "I'm sooo much better with guns..." She mutters.

Cryosanthia remains stuck in the kitchen, by the flow of customers, the crowding, and several of them telling her, "Don't go out! There's a Dragon, a Demon and an Angry Angel. People are dying."

"I told you, it's all a Play!"

Seeing her companions being swarmed, to say nothing of herself, is wearing on Brae's tender mercies. As she endures a whifful flurry from an array of saps, she focuses on her first target and her hand snaps out, fingers splayed as before and once again open with the small, but pointies! With a snarl, and what control she can manage in her new form, with only her somewhat skewed body awareness and discipline, she slashes him painfully across the belly, though not as deeply as she very well could have, "Trying t'letcha live- LEAVE US ALONE!" and she tries to get the other two into her line of sight without completely losing him.

A blinded thug is clutching Raethon, feeling his face, "Bohdan? Is that you? Get me out of here!"

"No. I'm not Bohdan, and I won't let you get hurt, but you're gonna have to stay here, or I'm not gonna be able to protect you." Rae then puts him on a bar stool. "Stay here." Then Rae gets out of his grasp....and turns towards the melee. Seeing Braelnoir flanked, Rae shakes his head....and snaps his fingers. One of the men starts to float into the air and Rae stamps his staff on the floor.....where the one floating in the air....SMACKS the one on the other side of braelnoir. "Yeah, I'm definitely done with bar brawls."

Ezil sighs as one man is taken out, but as another is on Merek he moves on to the next. It's a simple method, punch whoever is still fighting. It's a bar brawl after all. "I said STOP IT!" as if that really helps. A solid straight punch hitting the other man in the jaw, as Ezil just stares, waiting for him to decide if he wants some more.

Merek looks to the thugs while he notices they will keep fighting. He begins to think about what the noble he killed actually is, perhaps to learn that if he comes back. He instead takes a swing into the thug fighting with him while he manages to strike.

Wham! Slam! The thug takes two solid shots to the face. Any normal man should have been staggered, but this guy seems to have a Rock-Jaw. He smiles with bloody teeth, and spits one out.

Bohdan's friend sits on the stool where he is placed. He rubs at his eyes, straining to see. He raises his hands to feel around, then thinks better of it, and sits like a schoolboy on the dunce chair.

It's a dissarray around Braelnoir, one thug has been flung through the air into his partner. Both are bruised and the hammered one, the nail, is having no more of this. He backs away, disengaging and attempting to get out the door. The one that Braelnoir almost punched out, decides to make a break for it. This insenses the hammer, "You set me up Fred!" He sings as his buddy goes by, his sap connecting with a loud crack. Fred goes down into a table.

Things are not going according to plan. The plan was to surround a quetzolquatl and beat on it until it thought coming along was an acceptable idea. Some injuries were expected and that their buddies would step in. Instead, the Boss is dead, the backup has backed-out, and nothing seems to be getting through those feathers. One hesitates to swing at Kaelyn, then another does, then all four thugs aren't attacking her. Leaving seems to be the better plan, so they do and all withdraw for the door.

The fight is dying down, of the liverymen, only two are still swinging: The one in the air near Braelnoir, and the one stabbing at Merek. The others are all either gone, unconscious, dead, or sitting pretty."

Kae then gets a great idea when the ones attacking her run off... She crouches her forequarters, bunches her back legs under her, and leap! And there's a crunch and a scream as Kae's head goes through the floor... *blink... Blink* "OOoh yeah, Soo I'm sorry miss..." There's another scream and a big muffled wham and Kae falls out fo the hole she just made with her head...

It's raining men! Hallelujah it's rainin' men! As one of Brae's foes is suddenly beset upon from above by sorceries previously known to her, and the fellow takes down her previous assailant on his attempt to flee, she considers who all is left, sees Kaelyn has cleared herself while she's been occupied, though Merek is bleeding with a live blade after him. She growls, gnashing her teeth and presses her forepaws against the edge of the table and SHOVES, driving it into the dagger nut and dissuading him from further mischief. She feels her hair fluff from the floating man taking a swipe at him and, with a scornful smirk over her shoulder, she turns away completely and holds up her right paw, a single, sentral digit, claw out, extended to explain her thoughts in his direction, "Bed wetters."

Raethon, the wizard who had been smacking one of the thugs with another thug just.....stares at the thug who is still trying to fight, despire being held in the air.

That is when a very deep, gravelly voice can be heard coming from the elf's staff, a voice that can make a body shudder from how deep and resonant it is. "You should've stopped fighting when you had the chance."

Only when the voice stops speaking, does the thug suddenly SPEED into the air....past the missing ceiling, and into the sky with a 'WAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh......' and he disappears from sight. "Idiot. I had control of his body floating in the air. I could've thrown him into a spike and killed him. What an complete moron."

Merek looks to the fight as that finishes, then nods a bit. He speaks with the workers, to see if they can find where to bring the noble, while he finds a drink.

The flying thug was the last of the active combatants. There are still a few left, conscious. Bohdan's friend is sitting on his stool, staring blindly. The one that was stabbing Merek lies, a victim of a table, and the one that first attacked Braelnoir is down also, by her paw and one of his buddies. The noble is dead, and one of the thugs was vainly attempting to ressucitate him. Abandonned, he lies protectively across his Boss, closes his eyes and expects to die.

In the distance, there is an icy splash, and what sound like fishermen in alarm. The idiot will probably survive.

Cryosanthia finally makes it past the Dwarf with his meal and mead, and the eleven other helpful patrons holding her back. She blinks, staring at the hole in the floor that holds Kaelyn, the one in the roof, letting in the snow and sky. She sees blood, takes a step, "Merek!"

She sees Raethlon, and halts, then backs into the kitchen again.

Ezil has to back up take assessment of what just transpired, having walked in the door to such a crazy brawl. "Merek, sit down." he motions, having been standing next to him until a table slammed between them during the fight. "Let me heal you, let's get you sorted." he had seen others going to the aid of the downed noble, but his attention hasn't gone to the man still on the floor. Right now it's about the living that he knows. "How many times did he get you?"

Kae blinks and tugs and tugs and tugs, and finally there's a crunch, and she's pulled her head -out- of the hole in the ceiling.... "I sooo doon't know how to fight like this." She mutters, now flopping on her rump and sitting like a dog might, head raised up.... She then peers at the door, sighs and pulls some gold out to fix the door and the hole in the wall which she hands over to the correct person, so as to make sure damage she caused was at least paid for...

"And here I was hoping for a couple tomahawk steaks and taters." She says and well, yus, she makes for a really good pout, ears drooping out to the side as her head is hung low.... Her cheeks even poof out.

"Only one cure fer stupid." Brae remarks absently after watching, admittedly wide eyed, at the floating man going buh-bye through the roof. She slowly turns toward the dwarf who took a swipe at her, "Now... I'ma apolgize fer accidentally slappin' ya with my tail. And... I'm gonna let that little shot ya took at me pass. Once. Scram." She considers Merek a moment, then, seeing Ezil's on the case, she turns to go up the stairs, using her paws on the wall for balance, "Eezee! When yer done, I need someone with thumbs up in room seven!" she calls. She pauses halfway up, looks at the elf with the talking staff and, "Thanks, Mister." then continues up...

Raethon looks around and sighs. "At least things are calmer now." he says before looking to Ezil and Marek. "The hell happened?" He flat out asks. "I'm here trying to pick up a few components for a water breathing spell, and the door to the inn explodes."

Braelnoir spends a little while on the door upstairs, and, however she gets it open, it slams against the wall. There's the sound of things falling. Some curse words. A couple of things getting dragged...

Kae peerrrs at Raethon.. "Ummm, welll, lezze, this noble guy thought I'd make a -wonderful- addition to his menagery, and had is people come and try to beat me into submission so I'd go along with him like a good little... ummm... critter?" She says then sighs "It devolved into a bar fiht, I tried to scare folks away and the only thing I could think of, well was take a deep breath and let go... Well I did, and that's what messed up the door... And the wall... Which I'll pay for, I really didn't want to accidently kill anyone.... Best thing i could think of.."

Kae then umms... "Obviously it didn't work.. other things, I have zero clue how to fight in this body... LIke none, nadda, zero clue.... It's an odd cross of being mostly feral with a little elf I guess? I dunno... Anyhooos, yeah, so I dunno how to fight like umm whatever he called me? A questorkoala?" She says and blinks again....

Ezil would finish his work on the man, seeing him healed. "Who else got hurt?" he asks, standing from tending his friend, and dusting his hands. "I have a bit left, but..." looking then at the room, Braelnoir, and Raethon. "I still don't even know what I really walked in on." he admits, letting out a heavy sigh. "It got bad, real quick."

The watch responds first. Patrollers arrive, and a more capable fighter. They remain outside, observing while their force builds. The regular beat-guards are tasked with telling people to stay indoors, and stopping traffic. It's quiet in the Inn, but they're not about to rush into a futile situation. Soon the heavily armed watchman is joined by a watch-mage and watch-cleric. One scry later, they come through the door. The heavily armoured watchman first, the other two trailing. The watch-cleric seems ready with hold person, or hold monster, and the watch-mage on counterspell duty, while heavy watchman takes the lead, holding a smooth mace pretending to be a truncheon casually, "All right, what's all this then? I need some explanations."

Raethon whirls around and points his staff at the suddenly arriving watch, but holds his spell. "Mage...you can stop looking for spells to counterspell. Plus, I'm better at it than you are." He then looks to the rest of the group. "And you can stop being really hostile.....You'll find one the assaulters in the sea a bit off the dock....or that's where I flung him." He then points to the blind man at the bar. "And there's another one. He's blind though, so he's not going anywhere." He then looks to Kaelyn. "You're gonna have to explain the rest though."

The Watch-Commander slips in, unnoticed.

Kae huffs, some multi-colored smoke escaping her nose as she looks to the Guard.. "Ok, soo, we were coming in here to ask questions about Braelnoir here getting transfigured.. See if we could get info of events leading up to the event and just afterward." She says, "Anyhoo we'd just ordered steaks, and that fellow." She points at the dead noble. "Comes in and orders his people to try and capture me by beating me unconscious, so he could add me to his menagerie or something like that. Called me a umm.." She blinks and looks around, trying to remember... "Ooh I got it now! Quetzokoatil..." She says "OR could be questorkoala, but I'm htinking the first one... Anyhoo he I guess was trying to enslave me for his amusement? And also said he was gonna kill Brae here too.."

Kae says as she rubs at her long neck... "Sooo annyhoos, it devolved into a biiig bar fight as more and more folks joined in. I tried to stop the fight by scaring folk into stopping using I think a breath weapon? But I don't think it is, it acts too much like a ray caster.." She says and tilts her head to the right now.. tapping her chin "could be whatever changed me encorporated my gear into the form.. BUut anyhoo that doesn't matter, My attempt to dissuage them from the fight didn't work... They kept on, and eventually more folks joined in.."

Upstairs, having given up on her request for thumbs, Brae has settled for looping her arms through the straps of her weapon belts, backpack and breastplate. She hears conversation, a lot of it all of a sudden and sighs, shaking her equipment loose with a clatter before she emerges from her room and carefully, bracing as best she can to maintain her balance, starts to slowly, carefully, clop-clop down the stairs, "Easy now, luvvies...." she says warily. She's a Korite, she can't walk away from a fight, but she doesn't have to walk into one... right?

Ezil rubs at the back of his head, looking to the Watch, and then to Kaelyn. "I had just walked in as it started. A man tried to capture the women here, and a bar brawl broke out because of it." he states, sighing and looking about the room. "It happened real quick, and a man pulled a knife."

"Sorry, Braelnoir. I didn't get to make it up there." pointing to the guards questioning everyone. "It all happened so quick. I tried to step in and break some of it up, but they were intent."

The watch-mage gives Raethon a look, but he and the cleric seem less on edge now and are letting the Watch-Heavy handle the questions. He listens to the answers, he gestures towards the remaing entourage and tells the cleric, "All right, separate them and get their stories."

He looks at the others, "Some from the Temples will be showing up soon. Assistance that is a little harder to kill or intimidate. There's at least one dead and some property damage, so that's beyond 'bar fight' disturbance levels. We were told a demon and a dragon were rampaging, and a noble was murdered. Clearly, some parts of that are inaccurate," he gestures roof-wards, "and some not."

"That's..." the guards don't look happy. The Watch does not look happy at the account or the...body count. Eventually, one of them with a few bars and medals attached to her uniform, the Watch-Commander, steps forward. An arvek. Which means she doesn't know how to smile.

"Look...this is going to take a while to sort out. Instigated or not, we have deaths, here. I'm sure you understand the gravity of that. Especially--" and a nod towards the noble, who is no longer breathing.

"We'll be needing to take more formal statements over the next few days, from each of you. Probably be best if that started tonight and--" a nod to Kaelyn and Braelnor. "We'll see if we can't get your friend some help. I'm sure the...I am sure the Arcanists will love to volunteer their services." By the officer's tone--the Arcanists will have no choice.

Braelnoir shrugs, asiding, "Guess it doesn't matter none. Don't sweat th'little stuff, luv." She is really looking around trying to guage the mood of the law. She continues carefully down the stairs and makes a concerted effort, several, actually, to get her tail(s) under control before settling into a chair with her forelimbs folded in her lap, "No quarrel, gents."

"They'll likely come faster when you tell them Raethon's involved." The Elf's staff quips towards the commander...which causes Raethon to roll his eyes. "Not now, Havok." He then looks at the hole in the roof and......seems to be pointing to the sky......and turns towards the sea....before pointing more directly. "Send a few of your guards out towards that ship. If you hurry, you'll find one person getting out of the sea, and be able to catch him. And yes, I know my calculations are correct."

Kae siiiiiiiiiiiighs.... Lotsa smoke, it's kind of prety colored... "this is sooo gonna take alll night. Specially if'n I gotta repeat my self, lots..." Kae shrugs and lays down, kind of curling up like a big cat might, and well regails her story whenever asked answering whatever questions she needs, truthfully... The whole time her fingers drum on the floor top.

Ezil is in a bit of shock at the incident, shaking his head as the guard speaks. "Well, them drawing weapons made it more than a brawl." he concedes, but a second shrug follows it. "The noble was talking about collecting, and taking these women. I didn't see what took him down in the fight though. I was focused on trying to keep his men away from Kaelyn and Braelnoir. They wouldn't listen to reason. I even mentioned them not being demons. He told he to hush and started the fight." trying to recount the quick escalation. "I had only been here a couple moments before it all went to hell."

"A few that left are at the station. The rest are, were, in his employ. We'll figure out which of them did what." The watch-heavy says.

Then assistance arrives from the temples, a sampling of vergers with teleporting and fighting ability, who arrive en-masse. They consult quickly with the Watch, then divide up. Raethon is carefully consulted for his account. Their first priority seems to be to eliminate the bystanders get an official statement and a promise that they'll visit local precinct and give some follow details. This eliminates everyone who was in the kitchen, except for the dwarf, who downplays his involvement, stating that he did take a swing at Braelnoir but wasn't part of whatever the other group was doing.

The wet thug is brought in from the ocean. Raethon's calculations were corrrect.

"I wasn't gonna let'm kill me, so I fought back. Did what I could t'keep from doin' anyone real permanent type harm." Brae explains, "Which is hard, since I only been like this fer a few hours. The dwarf took a swing at me cuz I caught'm with my tail, but we sorted that up usselves. Civil-like. The rest of'm got told by the dead cake eater t'take Kaelyn an' kill me. These men were just tryin' to help us protect ourselves."

"Make sure you talk to this guy too." Raethon says as he gestures to a guy at the bar. "Mentioned 'Bodhan' when he grabbed onto me, and I didn't want to see him hurt, but he's currently blind. Keep a guard with him." He says as he places a hand on the blind man's head and says a few spidery words. "Your sight will return in a few moments, sir...but....I want you to talk to the watch here. And please be honest. Because...I would be very unhappy, if you weren't. And yes...this means telling of your involvement if you were involved. You don't want me to be unhappy." And he steps away from the man.

Bohdan's friend has his sight returned, he gives his name and a statement, which seems truthful enough although his perspective is skewed. Being in the employ of a noble means he's outsourced most of his thinking and follows orders, and the information he is told is limited. The gist is they were informed Kaelyn was simply a beast, Braelnoir was a last minute attempt by the noble to do something heroic, since there were concerned citizens on the street, and when the Boss died everyone acted irrational and he can't account for their actions. Variations on this are likely to come from the others, painting the Noble for some of the fault.

Merek nods a bit, speaking with watch, while it's back to drinking!

It's determined that Kaelyn and Braelnoir aren't at fault, although Kaelyn's condition and the accidents of her form are a concern. There will be some arcanists assisting her soon, and she'll end up with a watch-escort to keep regular people from over-reacting to her form. Or sending in reports of dragons or quetzoquatls in the street and attempting to capture them. Braelnoir questionning takes an interesting direction as the watch seems interested that her current form is the result of some unknown assault, and want details on that as well. They are relatively good at sorting out self-defense, so Ezil and Raethon are cleared soon also.

Merek caused a fatality, that's going to be harder to deal with. They want him to come in to the precinct. He's being cooperative, so there's some leeway, but even an accidental death will have some repercussions.

Cryo hangs around, even though there's no reason to, as she feels somewhat guilty for suggesting the trip in the first place and being absent when everything went south. "It'll be ok Merek, we'll get it sorted out."

Kae siiiighs "Obvious case of self defense, they brought weapons, didn't even try to clear it with anyone and came in here fighting..." She says and sighs.. "Noble boy there can be rezzed at the temple and stuff, and mebbe this is a lesson learned." She says and then grins a bit... "In fact, I imagine getting him to the church on time would be a good thing..."

Being resurrected is at least 7,000 in gold. It's a considerable expense for most of the population. Some Nobles are Noble in title only. Reincarnation is 1,000 gold, but who wants to risk coming back as a Kobold?

"Everyone in Alexandria carries weapons, it's hardly a provocative act." The Watch-Heavy says, "The rest of their behaviour isn't excusable. You'll have to settle up with the owner for his ceiling, and floor, and whatever business he might have had tonight. Taylean-Scythe can likely afford his ressurection, but shouldn't have to pay for it. Someone here will be."

"I expect there's gonna be some other noise about that." Brae muses once the law's sure she's not a threat, despite her appearance, "We best keep an eye on things if we can, Kae." she says softly, then unsteadily clop-clops over toward Merek, gently nudging him, "Hey, Mer. Ya'lright...?"

Kae umms "Yus, well I will pay for the thingies I broke, so the hole in the ceiling... By the way leaping in doors like this suuuucks, my head went through the cieling.." She says and looks up, more gold is passed to the owner....

Kae then umms "Soo yus, damages handled I guess?" She says cheerfully..

Ezil is let go, and was glad he didn't draw a weapon even after others had. "I don't even know what to say about that." he notes, looking at those left after the guards set them loose. "I'm worried for Merek, but I did say you weren't demons to that moron." letting out a sigh and shaking his head. "What a mess. This is why I prefer the road. Less nobles, less... craziness." still trying to get over it. "Do I need to help pay, Kae? I had just walked in... but... damn. What a mess."

The watch remains a while longer. Everyone is encouraged to stop by their precinct if they have any follow-up comments to add to their official statements. The watch will be in touch with Merek, his encouragement is a little less voluntary. Kaelyn is assigned a rookie patroller to tag along with her and stop situations getting out of hand. The Landlady says it's perfectly fine for Braelnoir to stay, in a way that communicates she really wishes she wouldn't. The fee for damages will be tallyed up and presented to all those who volunteered to contribute. The noble is taken away to the temple, things will be resolved. They are hopeful he can afford a ressurection as they would really like to know what he was thinking. Then, they depart. The vergers from the temple vanish with teleports.

As they leave, the silvery chimera is given a 1x2' placard that says 'I am not a Monster' with the stamp of the watch. She is encouraged to wear it always.
